I’m 40 years old and starting over. I broke up with my ex after 13 years in October 2019. I plan on buying my second home next year but i’ll be on my own this time.. I’m so excited because I get live my life the way I want and decorate the way I want it and apply minimalism. Keep things nice and clean. I can’t wait. At least something to be exited about again. ❤️

You’re content is one of the few that ACTUALLY inspire me to declutter and see it as a positive step. As a college student, I’m constantly moving, and I notice my anxiety sky rockets every time I have to make a life altering decision about where to go or if I should just pack and move across country. I realized, why am I letting my physical things hold me back from doing what I truly want to do! Keep up the great content girl. 💪🏽

For me the biggest change has been how quickly i can tidy up my ENTIRE house daily so that it is always looking clean and organized. And this has lead to a much shorter and easier cleaning routine which means i no longer spend 3-4 hrs 1-2 days a week cleaning 💪🏼 and it has has also made a huge difference with my kids because they now help to tidy up and they are loads more organized which is amazing 😃 and the best part of all is the peace that my hubby and i feel looking around our home or even just sitting on the couch and seeing such a tidy and organized home instead of a crazy hotmess like we used too 🙏🏻☺️

  • @brookealexander2584

A few of the biggest benefits I have expierence from practicing minimalism is that I feel free fom from wanting what everyone else I know has, and even just feeling free to delete social media for weeks upon weeks or months upon months without owing any explanation to anyone.
I used to be so sad when I noticed that someone else had more cute clothes then me, but now that does not bother me as much, as I am reminded that everything I have I love and use.
And taking social media breaks frees up so many opinions! There is always someone telling you how to think, and it is so nice to take a break from that and not feel like I own anything to anyone for those breaks.

Minimalism made me feel lighter in life like I have less things to think or own or say.. I don't worry about the materials that I have because I love every one of them in the way they are and in the way they present in my life. My mind is now settled on a clean base, I have my goals and plans and I am more intentional about my daily routine and time plans. Minimalism just made me someone I would always dream of but don't have the courage to do so. Great video, I am really obsessed with these kinds of videos and especially with your videos ❤️ love you 😊❤️🌷💞

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been doing a lot of research on minimalism over the last few weeks because I started noticing the impact of putting value in “stuff”. I was shopping when I was stressed, thinking it would make me feel better, but it only ended up making me feel worse and feel guilty for wasting money on things I didn’t need. These videos have been very inspirational, and I’m really enjoying the small transitions they’ve encouraged me to make so far! Keep up the great work :)

I have a serious issue with bags. I’m constantly on the lookout for the perfect one. But in hindsight I realize the variety of choices paralyzes me! My husband has been in the hospital twice in the last month and we live an hour away so I stayed at my grandparents house so I could be close. Each time I’d pack and repack my toiletries and my totes trying to decide which was the perfect bag. I finally realized that I was overwhelmed by the choices I had and I was hyper focused on that. I absolutely believe it was just anxiety that was taking hold but honestly I’m really thinking that paring down my choices are going to give me more peace. At least that’s the goal!!!

My husband and I finally decluttered out steam iron and ironing table today. I moved in eight years ago and since then we never ironed anything. Since autumn 2017 I am decluttering more and more and today we found the courage to let go. All the times before we thought „well, we don‘t use it, but we can‘t not having it“ (is that a sentence?) so it stayed. 😄

It's made a huge difference in how much time I spend cleaning. Even when things get bad, I spend maybe an hour VS hourS like in the past. I really saw this when I went through my closet again recently. It took a lot less time and I still parted with things that I couldn't last time and this time I was over them.
It has also made me appreciate my things more. I walk into my closet and feel immediate joy. I feel less guilt keeping things I don't like or use. If not for emergencies, I bet we would be saving more money as well. It helps you get better at only acquiring things you actually need and love. I am way more discerning with books and clothing especially--I used to buy things if they were cheap and "good enough." Now I make sure I really want the item, not just because it's cheap.

Also ditching the burden of having to keep track of all those items just because they cost us money. It’s way more empowering to donate/sell these items to avoid having to worry about where they are/whether they are safe/have been dusted/washed/serviced etc.

More flexibility also to help other people. We give our "Toy Room" to my brother in law and his newborn for a few weeks, because his wife is very ill after the C-Section and has to stay in hospital at least for 2 or 3 month. I wanted to support him. Without minimalism this would be a hardship and chaos. My little son now gets a play corner in the living room and my brother-in law has a room all for himself to bond with his little daughter. We would never be able to help him out if we were still cluttered as we were.
Edit. The "toy room" is not a spare room. Our little ones co-sleep in our room. We are able to live with six people in a two bedroom appartement without feeling overwhelmed. It is amazing

As far physical things, feeling overwhelmed by it depends on what the thing is. As I've said before, I love being surrounded by books, so feeling like I live in a library is more cozy than overwhelming lol, but I have been able to let go of other physical things. I'm a nerd, and in several fandoms, and I used to feel like I had to possess certain merch from those fandoms. Now, I am more selective about the merchandise i purchase. If it's not a book or manga (Japanese graphic novel), I find it easier to say "no".

Hey Ashlynne! I love the content of tour videos and the whole mood you have set; I’m just wondering where do you buy your clothes from, by that I mean fast fashion stores or slow fashion..? Because I’ve been having this discussion with myself that I want to be a minimalist on a budget but also as much of an environmentalist as I can be! So it’s a bit overwhelming and curious to see and take notes of how other people do it!

Definitely my most appreciated benefit of switching to a more minimalist lifestyle has been a reduction in anxiety. I definitely went through a period in my life where I felt this terrifying need to own More Stuff and hoard it all, which correlated alongside a period of being 100% broke. Now I have the peace of mind after decluttering that everything I still own is important to me and that I won’t need anything more until what I have has worn out and served its purpose.

That’s so hard! I put them in a box and every time I declutter, I hit that box and just slowly declutter it. My train of thought is “if it makes me happy” or is functional then I keep it. I don’t think there is anything wrong with have a sentimental, memory box.
You’ll find that over time those things don’t matter as much so you’ll know what to throw away. My mom just moved and I left a bunch of memory boxes from high school. With a more minimalist mind set, I chucked out so much stuff cause it wasn’t as meaningful as I remembered it to be.

I have a bit of constructive criticism, as I watched probably all of your videos on minimalism. I guess there's only so much you can say about being a minimalist, but I feel like it's getting repetitive. I was a little disappointed because I've heard you mention all of these points before. I also feel like speed was too slow. Watching it at 1.5x speed sounded more at regular pace. It made me feel like it was to stretch the time to 10 minutes long. I do enjoy the cinematography, and I commend you for your time spent editing and maintaining a consistent style in lighting, but at this point, I believe you can come up with more unique topics. Maybe your audience can share ideas? My intention is not to spread negativity. I hope I don't receive hate. I'm encouraging and challenging you to be a little more creative because I know you have the potential. I think that will make your channel grow.

Keeping cupboards and drawers tidy is easy, because there’s not so much junk to arrange. You can put things away faster, because there’s less to deal with. 😊✨

I like the map over your bed! I did a puzzle that looked just like it! Where did you get it from?

We're wondering how you're going to be able to get to your sisters wedding this weekend, when the US/Canada border is closed except for essential travel, and then there is a mandated quarantine of 14 days after arrival in Canada.

Hey Nicola! So the Canadian border is closed to foreigners, but I’m actually a Canadian citizen. So I’m allowed into the country and I am currently quarantining for 14 days! Right now I’m on day 3 of the quarantine 🙂
