Waterfall Circle Hike in Iceland (The best hike in East Iceland)

The Waterfall Circle is an 8 kilometers long hiking circle that starts and ends in Laugarfell. On the hike, you can see five waterfalls and one canyon. Some of these waterfalls are among the most powerful in East Iceland. The most famous of those five waterfalls are Kirkjufoss and Faxi. The Waterfall Circle trail takes you along the banks of Jökulsá River.
You will drive a gravel road for a few kilometers to reach Laugarfell parking lot. A standard regular car will do fine on that gravel road.
The parking is free and you can use the restroom at Laugarfell guesthouse but make sure you remove your shoes when you use the restrooms at Laugarfell guesthouse or when you enter the guesthouse.
I recommend you take enough water, snacks, and light food on this hike. The hike can take up to 4 hours roundtrip. Keep in mind that there is another route that is way longer. Make sure you stay on the Waterfall Circle Hiking Trail. If you watch the whole video, you will get a good idea of how this hike is like.
After the hike, you can take a bath in the hot springs in Laugarfell.
