    I went here a number of years ago. The sense of evil I felt was palpable. I will nerve forget approaching the cremation ovens. They were glowing inside almost as if the ashes of the victims were still inside. As I looked inside the glowing was from small candles of remembrance placed inside the ovens. The sense of loss and sadness I felt was overpowering.

      @@WandererBell As an educator, we value lifelong learning. I traveled as a child to Disneyland in the 60s, worked at the cannery at $2/hr in the 70s, worked to enter college, majored in business but switched to education to contribute to society. My oldest students approaching 60. I traveled during school breaks. I remembered driving NZ with a paper map. I remembered booking a solo tour to China of the places I wanted to go. I remembered the 1st ipod with wifi to help plan locations. I had landlines till 2016 and got my 1st cell phone I have traveled to China 53 times and Japan 42 times. I document my experience on RUclips and Facebook but it is for my records. I have many Facebook and RUclips posts but more of a slide show .. for my memories. It doesn't bother me if only 3 views...me, myself and I I starting to forget what I did last year so I make a list. I first followed your Iceland video and that helped me a lot to break out of my shell. I also followed your Austria video closely and now planning Peru with Ecuador. Every new country is an adventure and planning helps. I used to backpack China hostels to meet friends and get ideas. Now I like your hotel choices because I know you plan well. Being a minimalist is great if you don't have life's baggage... as we age, must declutter junks. Memories can be digitized. My father lived to 53, and family history indicates diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. Every day is a bonus. I am the guy with ikigai... My hobbies are travel, magic and kites! The price of the Indian food was listed in big letters right on the poster. 12,900 won for the main dish plus rice, nan and salad etc. I've lived in Korea for 5 years and I've never seen a restaurant that didn't have a menu. Korea is not cheap compared to the SE Asian countries you mentioned and Japan because average per capita income is much higher for Koreans than the people of those countries. Especially in Seoul due to it being the capital mega city. Even many Koreans prefer to vacation at SE Asia and Japan over places in Korea because it's cheaper for them to do so.

    • @WandererBell
      @WandererBell 7 дней назад

      That makes sense. Thank you for the explanation. Regarding the meal prices, when I got inside the restaurant, the cheapest meal was about 20000 which is totally different from what they displayed outside. Now I learned a lesson. I always take a photo if they display a low price outside and then I show them the photo incase I don’t see the same price on the menu inside the restaurant.

    • @testingnow144
      @testingnow144 7 дней назад

      @@WandererBell It did also say "Lassi" was extra 2000 so maybe there was something else you ordered that was more. Korean businesses are very honest when it comes to prices and what not. It's not like some countries where they scam(lie to) the tourists out right. Having said that, the more touristy areas will be more expensive like every other country. I'm from the US and eating out in general is cheaper in Korea if you know where to go. Good luck and have fun.

      @@kelvinyschun The one in Cusco always has hot water for tea/coffee in the lobby and the guest house in Ollantaytambo, you can ask the owner to provide one. He lives in the same guest house and he is very friendly. He will do his best to help.

    So strange that the cards don't work at the airport when folks just arrive in the country...wonder why they have it set up that way??

    • @WandererBell
      @WandererBell 11 дней назад

      It is hit or miss. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don’t, based on what people have reported on the Reddit forum. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. There was nothing wrong with my card; it worked in the city center using the ATM from the same bank I tried at the airport. It is obviously a poor system that nobody seems willing to fix.

    Interesting…you and another vlogger I follow are both in S. Korea at the same time. He’s shown/reported a totally different experience…the Koreans were very welcoming and helpful to him. He’s also a tall German dude. From my understanding, in general, Koreans look more favorable to the lighter skin foreigners/people. Colorism is real. Sad.

      It is true. Koreans look more favorable to the lighter skin people. I knew that based on my research before visiting Seoul, but I decided to visit it anyway because it is too close to Japan and the flight ticket was just $65 USD. The good news is that I am only in South Korea for just 1 month and I have no plan or desire to extend my stay or revisit.

      Of course colorism is real. Even in Japan they discriminate their own with darker skin color like those from Okinawa island.

      @@jjman533 From my personal experience during a two-month stay and a previous visit to Japan, I never faced colorism. People were very kind and helpful to me, even though I’m not white. Colorism might exist in Japan, but it doesn’t seem as common as in some other countries.
