I feel like they did the ol' bait and switch. I had a corded one when they first came on scene and it lasted forever. Ex got it in the divorce. Dyson stopped making corded and went to this battery-only bullshit, riding on the good rep they had. I bought into it and it's trash. Even awhile after the new filters it started acting up again. Tried a new battery. Worked for a bit, then back to shit. Got a new actual Dyson OEM battery and the same thing happened. They're like cars and lightbulbs now, with their engineered failure to make you buy another; "It's not a flaw, it's a feature." I agree - never again.
Glad to hear it. I hope you have better luck than I have though. This video is older, but after awhile even replacing the filters doesn't seem to work. I think Dyson designs planned failure into their products... I finally just gave up on Dyson and bought a corded Bissell for a fraction of the cost. The inconvenience of a cord is much less than the frustration of shortening battery life and constant filter and clogging issues.
I can confirm, that if you still think you've done everything and your dyson should be working it most likely IS the filter. I happen to have two in ny possession and when one filter went bad but I did everything I could to clean and fox it the only thing that worked was switching it with the other filter.
Honestly, this is what I did to solve this issue: First, on high heat and speed of a blow dryer, blow on the filter until you notice any of the wetness gone. Then, on a cool shot setting and high speed of the blow dyer, blow into the filter if the vacuum a vouple times until the light flashes off. It took me an hour, but it was worth it!
I've cleaned my filter a few times with success. Last rinse & dry didn't help. Light stayed on. I decided to try one more thing before buying replacement filter(s). I safely used a compressed air nozzle and blew both elements of the filter in reverse of operating airflow. I vacuumed from full battery to stop/discharged and filter light is still off. 🙂
@@Eric_from_Kansas I really think that the culprit of the stoppage with filter light is the pleated portion of the filter. The exposed purple part cleaning is obviously straight forward. You can see the difference. Hardly so with the pleats. I think some of the purple filter residue may even get deposited in the pleated filter when cleaning, possibly shooting right into one's foot.
I had the same issue on my v10. Had the same original Dyson filter and vacuum for approximately 5 years. I soaked the original filter in a bucket with hot water and simply green for about 3 hours. Used shop compress air and allowed the filter to dry for 24 hours. Vacuum operational check good.
@@Eric_from_Kansas Hi Eric, thanks for your reply. I had ordered the filter found through Walmart $10 - fits fine, but dyson air filter light is still pulsating. So I ordered directly from dyson (per phone number listed on my vacuum filter 4x more expensive at $40) and it surprisingly did not fit in as easily into the vacuum. In fact, dyson filter's fit was more like the amazon filter's fit you mentioned that did not quite fit in right away and had to push it in with more effort. i bought my dyson v10 is 2021. Do you think it's the battery? If so, please provide link to how to do battery replacement. I guess for that, it would have to be ordered directly from dyson huh?
Mine has the same issue. Additionally, I noticed that it only sounds like work in the lower levels other than boost, but the suction is very weak. It can barely pick up nothing
Seems to me like engineered failure on Dyson's part. Can't keep making money off a problem if you actually solve the problem. Gotta milk it. 😠 (Sorry the delayed response. Thank you for watching and commenting though)!
I have a v10 with pulsing issue and have 3 filters which we switch out regularly so that we always have a clean & dry one. STILL it pulses. Have cleaned out the inside. Have used different batteries, it still pulses. I'm over it. Starting warranty process tomorrow and will request a different model for replacement. Not doing a v10 or v11 as I read they both have these issues.
Just arrived to this discussion , have the spare filters , clean it all regularly. But still pulsing , took it into our garage asked my husband to use his airline to blast it all with air I thought it was as clean as it could be , you would not believe the dust that came out now it works as well as it did brand new.
The filter is "washable" you run it under warm water for 5 mins, use a washing up brush to loosen the dust and that's it, your obviously not cleaning all of the dirt out especially deep down inside, it basically lasts forever as long as you keep it clean....
Using a degreaser as well helps to break down the oils clogging up the filter as well. I like to soak in a mild solution of bleach and water after for 10 min to sanitize/deodor. Cheers
I have had this problem ever since I bought my Dyson V 10 animal 5 years ago. I tried everything. Even professional service. When on max, it's till makes that intermittent noise! I am desperate and thinking of just throwing it away. Dyson sucks, but badly!
@@Eric_from_Kansas Exactly it makes perfect sense. They gotta keep you spending money some kind of way. Can't make these gadgets too efficient, but I was still expecting a longer filter life.
@@Eric_from_Kansas Oh wow please don't tell me that. Yeh you should probably do another update video. I just ordered the ones you referenced from Amazon. They should be here Thursday.
@@Eric_from_Kansas I'm still waiting on my filters from Amazon. All of a sudden the vaccum came back on and working perfectly fine. I need to look further to see what's going on. Either the filter wasn't completely dry or a clog somewhere has been miraculously removed. This vacuum is acting weird...smh

It worked great for the first year then I replaced the filter under warranty when this started. However I have it on medium and it’s pulsing and I’ve cleaned everywhere. Wtf
Yeah this one worked great for several years for us. However, after awhile even replacing the filters didn't seem to work. I think Dyson designs planned failure into their products. It's kinda obnoxious ngl. Maybe have two on hand - wash one out and let it dry while the other is in use🤷♂️. Wish I knew of a better solution. I have a dog that sheds non-stop (which is why we bought a cordless vac)... it's a pain.
Have the Dyson cordless V10 . Dyson told me battery is gone, they sold me new battery, $76.00. Machine still pulsates on all 3 settings. Don’t want to spend anymore $$$, even on filters. This vacuum works great, as long as you don't use it to vacuum up dust!
True 😂
thank you for this video, the only one on youtube regarding pulsing blockage that solved my problem, once again thanks a lot.
Thank you. Video from Dyson that I viewed did not mention that filter. Cleaned it with a brush and it works!
Great! I just got the inexpensive filters from Amazon, put one in - et voila! - not only fixed but, good as new. Thank you for making this video.

What is the solution ?
I fix my filter. I washed at washing machine and later I up it into tumbler dryer. My vacuum cleaner is working as normal 😊
