You guys hit it on the nose - yes, for me, it's the communication barrier that still exists, even if Filipina's speak English far better than any of the other SE Asian countries. And I strongly believe it's not all on the Filipina... from what I experienced, most expats won't even meet them half way by learning the Filipina's native language. I urge a lot of the expats to get off their asses and start learning the Filipino language or you will always feel like an outsider whenever family and friends get together (which is quite frequent!).

I have been in a family party in the Philippines. I didnt feel left out at all, but I am an introvert, so I didnt need attention. Just drink a small cup of tuba with everyone 😉, and listen to them, answer their questions nicely. It was not that hard.

You have to know each other well and what your limits are. Learn to communicate. We took my partner's widowed mother in as she needed care. It's become a 24/7 need in the last couple of years, so we have had to hire two helpers. It's a challenge sometimes but God is very clear about the duty of children to care for parents.

I’m coming Oct 26th to Cebu, then traveling around and staying 3 weeks around the Philippines. Just vacationing and looking around and seeing personally how the Philippines suits me for coming back and possibly spending more time semi retired 3 to 6 months at a time. I believe everyone is different and hard to paint the Filipinas or the foreigners with broad brush strokes. I don’t want to be the walking ATM, but understand where I am and the need of the ones I come into contact with have few resources to compared to most others in the world. I’ll balance my budget and evaluate the best options for my future. ❤🙏

What is concidered "old age" and "retirement age" over there? I see videos of like 80 year old foreigners with younger Filipinas. So i would doubt the gal's parents are older than him. So would he be expected to help pay for her "retired" or 'old" parents when they are younger than him? How does a parent ask this older foreigner for money when they are "retired"? Many, if not most Americans are working into their late 60's and beyond. So a (I'm just guessing a number) 50 year old retired Filipino could be asking for money from a person decades older and still having to work? These are real questions. So anyone with any information please respond. Thank you.
It would seem odd for a person to retire if they can't afford to retire.

Maya, your husband mentioned Pilipina jealousy. You should consider doing a video on how your husband should tell you if another Pilipina is coming on to him. Especially, if she is one of your family members or one of your friends. What would be your reaction overall, would you lay any blame on your husband if he told you first, and what would be your final outcome?

I am from Québec and I had a girlfriend from Morocco. We both spoke excellent French, and still, at times, one would say something that seemed inoffensive to him or her, but that would start a angered reaction from the other. We used the same French words, but the meanings were not always exactly the same. After it happened four times, I took the habit of asking for a time-out when an argument occurred in order to ask what was the word that produced the reaction so that we wouldn’t fight about a misunderstanding.

There are limits, but I believe it was fir their requirement to live, not be their savior. Thus surprised me. My wife does sent to her parents, but her sisters are always trying to get us to sent to them. My limit was hut long ago, so she has been working for about 10 years, and she took over that task.

Being family oriented doesnt mean you have to provide for her family.
In my case as family oriented woman, i never asked money for my family, instead I just work even if he supports me, so I can also like help my family somehow FROM my OWN money. A family oriented filipina has a big heart and very caring. Some foreigners also just like spending or sharing to others and you cant stop them from doing that. And also if you dont want to regret about choosing the right one, you should really get to know that person very well before deciding to marry. Coz filipinas are all different. Different mindset, different environment, different faith.

Keeping your hand on your lady's lap under the table throughout the interview is something a boy in high school would do with his first girlfriend. It shows insecurity. Show some class, Mr. Gio! Also, wearing sunglasses for an interview in a shaded enclosure, and the lady is not wearing sunglasses, really speaks volumes about personality issues.

About the communications issues, I find it incredibly entitled for Westerners to go to another country and not learn the language. If you want to change your life and move to another country, but don't want to respect the people or their partner enough to learn the host language, what message are you really sending? For what it's worth, I am American and am planning to move to SouthEast Asia, but wouldn't do so without learning the language of whichever country i choose.

After 40+ yrs, there's very little miscommunication...you either, (do understand) bcz if you (don't) you'll never really be happy....But of course there's lots to disagree with. it might be the taxi fare or the time it takes waiting to pay the elect bill....and if you don't have the Patience's to wait n understand this is everyday life in the Philippines, that they live and love for...then perhaps their life situations make it the problem, and if You cant cope with just that much, you wont be capable of truly loving her her, her family and One's self in general. If You wish to be there for short or long term plan and can''t cope or handle everyday life ....forget everything else....Patience goes along way to finding a balance so to speak......And if you have little respect for yourself let alone the In's and out's of everyday life in Phil's, then you either change your attitude, perhaps drink less beer maybe helpful? But if your capable of loving, I'm sure you'll be able to not only, get n keep the lady, you'll make a lot of others' happy to be in your company, that are important to Her... ❤ ❤ My point being...... that it isn't at all that there's much bad or wrong with her, or this or that woman. Take a good long long look in the mirror Bro, before you start blaming Others that come your way, or wish to simply Love You Too..... diba?

Foreigners should remember women date them because their alternative options are worse. ALL humans are naturally driven to survive. My bro has been happily married to a Pinay for about 30 years. He provides for her but her personal income from work is sent home. That works out for them since he is not expected to support her distant relatives. If she wants to do that she can earn the money herself. His military retirement vested at 20 years and he's wisely debt-free except a cheap mortgage locked in long ago so he doesn't need her income, and she upholds her end of the bargain at home because she's a devoted parent.

I have questions, 1) what would be considered a fair amount for a foreigner to contribute to the family? And 2) as someone who has always been self reliant I would have an issue giving adults a monthly stipend so wouldn't it be more acceptable to provide the family with a way to make money? For example buy a car for your filipinas brother and sign him up for grab. Would the family still be expecting more help?

Hi guys, good video, I have Filipina girlfriend (she is 50, I'm 53) but I made it clear after about 6 months of knowing each other, and after first meeting last year, that I am and will not be financially responsible for her sons (mid 20s), she did get angry and said don't ever talk about my family like that again LOL, but I made it clear from the start, and don't flash your money around when going to her community!! you need to make boundaries right away. Oh I must add my girlfriend has business's so she's not really poor herself.
Also the subject of being asked why you have a foreigner boyfriend but stay in the Philippines, really? the answer is simple, why do you think we go to the Philippines? because our money goes further, if we take Filipinas back to our Countries the money will be less and won't last long lol you Filipinas need to understand that back in our Countries the cost of living is so high, higher than you can imagine in Peso's lol.

I watched a video recently on the Peas channel talking to attorney gracie....apparently, it is actually a law there that a women has to support her family and siblings. So, I think if I were in your shoes I would get that set amount you mention put on legal paperwork so there is no question which would eliminate someone saying I need more this month or what have you....

Wow Gio, your wife is gorgeous.. is it too rude to ask why she only moves half of her upper lip? I mean, my aunt had the same thing but it was because she had a stroke and lost part of her face muscles... Maybe something similar happened to her? or maybe it's just how she talks? 😁😁

Filipina’s expect their Boyfriends/husbands to have a endless pot of money available for them and their families
Many don’t appreciate the support either

Only if you have the wrong Filipina 😉. My wife's family, except for one sister, has way too much dignity, honor, self-respect and self reliance to ever ask for a handout. For them to offer is a disrespectful gesture.

I mean, if you marry a foreign woman, the least you can do is learn her language to feel like you belong with her family, that's basic respect imo

At 60 to 70, many simps will be discarded unless a sizeable inheritance dictates that the stay another 20 or 30 years Past money and lifestyle means nothing to gold diggers Everything is about what they get today or tomorrow No credit for past giving 3 out of 4 get burned If u are the 1 in 4 then you ate lucky or got the good one.

Language barrier? Its a shame & embarrassing that most Filipinos are far from being fluent in English in spite of it being the medium of instruction in PH schools Its common knowledge that poor PH women love the foreigners money only rich PH women are not everywhere they're where the rich locals are & are not after small time middle class expats

HI maya my 1 & only grandchild has same name. I have only 1 son who used to be caring. My daughter in law has filopeno mother & english father. I beleive she covert narcissist & basically put up with my son using me as emotinal punchbag for last 2 years. Its been worse over the 5 years. I tried talk to her mum who is like my son controlled my daughter in law. Whatever i do is not good enough! I have brought my son up to retpect all walks of life & when my mum died i took him holidays of poorer countries. India etc. I have a terminal illness & 4 my own sanity & recovery from narcisstic abuse just fone to see the baby. Ive brort my son up to do right thing & respect all walks of life cultures & faiths. This girl hates my authentic self & i am thinking is it anything to do with being filopno aswell as narcissim? Her mum has no empathy they just behave so fake. My son has changed beyond beleif towards me. This crab mentality is something i feel. He was born on my birthday & i dont even think i will get a card as every year she makes plans to go abroad with her mother & my son. Very money orientated too & my son earns. Respect to u Maya ❤

supporting her family robs resources from her, the children, and grandchildren.... as a carholic/christian nation, the mindset needs to change about your job being to hand resources out to parents and siblings. The Bible tells you to leave an inheritance to your children's children... to get your family out of poverty, you need to plan for the generations after you, not the generations before you.

None of these are a big problem... more amusing than annoying... but I'm wondering how many other Filipinas do these funny things that my wife does:
    1. "Mahal, do you know where is the ano?" 🤔
    2. She unplugs appliances overnight (coffee maker, toaster...) ☕️🥯
    3. When she's talking to her family in the Philippines, she speaks LOUD, because they are really far away! 📢
    4. All such calls to the Philippines are made between 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. 😳
    5. We strongly disagree about exactly when food becomes garbage 🤢
    6. Can't understand the thermostat after living in 🇺🇸for 9+ years - pushes the 🔼 button to make it 'mas malamig' 🌡️😅
No westernization here - she's 💯%🇵🇭Filipina. Anybody else?
