Somalia had Eretrian for hundreds of years. One of them I Know a lady 75 years now had 4 generations of family there. They are of course completely Somali now. We also had many who came in the 70s to 80s who received great help with open arms, because they fled from Mengistu Haile Mariam. Siad Barre helped Eretria in their fight against Ethiopia and the rest is history.

The problem in the country now is one that was created due to a power vacuum spanning over 25yrs and the irony is that there weren't any fundamentalist issues in somali until the early 2000s when America started involving itself in somali elections and I'm sure you won't be surprised that during that same period it was already invading and destabilising Iraq and Afghanistan. The problem in Somalia is geopolitical that is being masked as a religious issue.
