My routine is whenever I see a new video on this channel I try to watch as soon as I can, I like before I even watch, and I leave a comment to support the channel both creatively and to feed the algo.
I appreciate how this channel has a clever horror/creepy theme that dials in and out depending on the subject matter. For example, this video keeps the aesthetic of the channel but wisely adjusts the tone to fittingly match the subject.
My views on the McFarlane releases tend to be from a cynical capitalistic POV which is a me-thing as much as anything else. I think the low-price on the Batmobile was a pseudo-response to the on-going debate on the pricing and distribution of large vehicles and playsets at retail. The too-high price of the Batwing was an attempt to recoup some of the loss on the Batmobile and to capture demand in the obnoxiously large vehicle category. That category is being served by Thundertanks, Haslab/Mattel crowdfunds, and some indie company offerings, but even here McFarlane Toys is undercutting most of them.
While I get why people like McFarlane Toys, it is almost never for me. I think I have bought one recent McFarlane release, a Superwoman bought on clearance for $4 for future use as a custom or fodder. While all the big toy companies are making business-based decisions, McFarlane Toys’ decisions seem sort of odd and/or banal (?). From making sure every wave consists of a disproportionately high amount of Batman or Batman-themed characters (they sell!) to odd accessory choices (here is one fist and one open hand, here are no accessories at all even though that baton is the character’s signature weapon). It is great that people seem into it and some of the designs are cool, but thankfully for my wallet I do not feel like I have to collect MT.
Also, since I wrote so much and comment so often, just want to mention that comments from this channel are not written by Ben, but by me, Hal. I produce and edit the content for this channel. Small thing, but people tend to identify with one person per YT channel. Our channel/show is run by some of the crew.

Well all the same, happy to have you here Hal! and knowing that, you definitely make Ben look good. Heh,heh... now I'm wondering if anything in those video interviews have ever gotten terribly awkward and ended up on the cutting room floor. I kind of wish that RUclips had a IMDb style production credit pull down.
As for McFarlane, I 100% agree with all of your points. Until recently, I haven't bought anything from McFarlane in maybe 20 years, but I have a soft spot for his company for one reason, he was the first major US toy company to cater to adult collectors. Though the quality definitely diminished over the years, from the X-Files, to The Matrix, and every Clive Barker, Wizard of Oz, Movie Maniac in between, McFarlane was releasing figures catering to an unloved demographic, and with quality at a price that a lowly movie theater employee could afford.
But, over time, the prices went up the quality went down, and he also lost the "four Horsemen" ( some of the best sculptors his company had) and NECA swooped in and took over the market. Since then, it doesn't seem like Todd has had any desire to get the toy gods to notice him again. But recently, with him getting the avatar license, I've noticed that fire kind of reignite, And I think that the Batmobile was a shot across the bow of the other big toy companies. That is the type of capitalism the market seems to have forgotten right now, competition! We the collectors definitely lose when these companies don't have anyone coming for the top spot (and willing to do higher quality at a lower cost to the consumer)... I would love to see NECA's $40 to $70 butt sweat just a little (Much the way Hot Toys is starting to get nervous at the volume of companies currently gunning for their spot).
For now, other than Aliens of course, I'm still going to stick to mostly 1/6 and higher end items, but I will say that McFarlane has caught my attention with these moves (hence the review). It will be interesting to see what He does next, now that Todd is once again holding the microphone.

Oh, and I'm glad you notice the tonal shift😄 I realize that with superhero stuff I probably was going to be getting to be getting more kids, and "happy people", sooo, you know, no cutting my fingers off and such. I also try to go with a somewhat more upbeat vocal pitch, did you know that the pitch of my voice is almost the same as the background hum of most crowded places, it's very difficult to hear me in a food court.
It is my dream though, that some kid starts browsing the rest of my video catalog, and then walks into the kitchen in all black and declares "Mom, Dad... I am Goth now!" Then mopes back down the hallway, slams his bedroom door, and "Enjoy the Silence" can be heard muffled and pulsing from behind. They don't even know where he got the stereo, much less find the eyeliner and clothing in such a short time.

@@strangeform I agree that competition and jockeying for position is good for collectors overall. I came back to action figures during the pandemy after really only buying LEGO as an adult.
My main collection is sort of the opposite of you in that I mainly stick to 1/12 and only dabble in 1/6. I am not sure if it was Marvel Legends or who set the standard, but the 1/12 scale seems to have a lot of compatibility across a lot of lines to the point where there is so much inertia at that scale. I like mixing superheroes (Legends, MAFEX, Mezco, etc.) with military lines (Classified, Valaverse) with licensed properties lines (MAFEX, SH Figuarts) and independent lines like Mythic Legions. My bank account hates it though.
I have only a few 1/6 scale, mainly by Mondo and ThreeZero. I do not own a single Hot Toys figure yet. I think my mind may be forming a mental dam because if I allow myself to get into HT (I have a co-worker who is into them), it might unleash a flood of too many choices.
Oh, and don't get me started on my small but expensive Masterpiece-grade Transformers. Don't even get me started

@@schadenfreudeind Your route is definitely the way to go, for both space and money, although I'm sure the Legos blow any of those savings away. And it is interesting to see the cross-pollination between the one 12th and 7 inch companies. As for masterpiece transformers, I have everything up to shockwave (I also have all of the alternators boxed up somewhere) but then stopped because the third party companies were getting too good, and beating Takara Tomy to the punch, and with products that were often better. So, just like with you and Hot Toys, the playing field just got too big. However, if I ever become a millionaire overnight, you better believe that I'm dedicating a room (or wing of the house) to transformers.

@@strangeform Third-party Transformers have gotten insanely good over the years. It is at the point where I am semi-surprised the third-party companies are allowed to continue. I realize a lot of these companies are overseas with different laws, but, as you said, these companies are eating Takara Tomy/Hasbro's lunch.
I am in a semi-pause on Transformers as my attention shifted to 1/12 scale figures. Also, I completed my Masterpiece-scale third-party Decepticon Justice Division collection which is a pinnacle for me in terms of the right amount of quality, cred, and obscurity. I am not sure how I could top that in terms of personally satisfying Transformer toys

I love the design of this Batwing (other than the two little teeth on the front). It pains me to say this but I think this design is a little bit cooler than the original 1989 Batwing. I'd really like to add the Mcfarlane version to my collection.

@user-cb4uv3lh1k Seriously? Wow, I'm sorry, that is sort of unacceptable. Especially because they had markdown sale inventory here in the states, they probably should have shifted inventory to the uk if they were having so much trouble meeting demand.
