I could listen to this conversation for a week straight and not come close to scratching the surface of my interest in it.
I grew up in a religious cult that was/is anti-science (they've been in the news a lot during the pandemic) and was astounded at what I could test on my own once I left the cult (and at how horrible my old "brothers and sisters" could treat people who left). This pushed me to go to college. I'm now 38 years old and am in an Aerospace Engineering program at University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). I wake up every day with a renewed awe of the body of understanding of science and its implications on our society.
My professor, Dr. Lynnane George, was the Mission Director for one of the Titan IV rockets and I've recently been working on a project with Trip Carter, who was on the team that implemented the use of the Cesium Clock in satellites (formerly known as NAVSTAR, now known as GPS).
I feel an immense sense of impostor syndrome every time I'm around people of this caliber, but I am incredibly excited for my future and the new knowledge I will gain tomorrow. I have recently been helping with STEM Outreach through GSTEM, Cool Science, AIAA, Nasa DemoSat, and Nasa GLEE.
Thank you for doing this. Thank you for making it available to people like me.
How can I help? I would love to be a part of the future of this science outreach.

    • @primateinterfacetechnologi6220

      Far out... much respect.
And I thank you for the term "imposter syndrome" as strangely despite being 50-something years old, I had not run into the term previously. It struck "home" due to a vague group of feelings that I've had... not identified clearly or related to each other as a group unto themselves... er, what I mean to say is, or perhaps better put: I am a musician... or so they all tell me.
      Peace be upon you, sir.

What a stupendous way to take the life of not only the life and scientific exploits of one of the most important and interesting people of all time, (allegedly, as Simon Whistler would say 😂😂😂) but to also bring to light the hard work of the team of people from Yale working to preserve and present his legacy for all of the world to see and revere. Thanks so much Chuck, Ellen Cohn, Benjamin Franklin (Mitchell Cramer) and Neil for the wonderful work done here to bring it to my fellow partakers, and also dum-dums such as myself, in an unexpected and entertaining talk/show. Chuck and Neil, you always bring the hits! Wow, what a giant run-on sentence filled paragraph I produced there. Told you I’m a big dummy! I never comment on any videos though and so it just goes to show how much I LOVED this episode, but all of Star Talk!!!

I've experienced the sensation of electrons storing in my body before a lightning strike. My brothers and I were in our house watching a lightning storm from a living room window. The hairs on my neck and arms suddenly stood up, and about a second later a lightning bolt struck. I don't know where or how close it struck because the intensity of the flash blinded and disoriented us for about 6 seconds. It was like getting punched in the head by light.

I have a question about time. Let's say, that my friend boarded a spaceship. Like a rally big one. And let's say, that i watch him, from a very far distance, as he fly by at the speed of light. Do I see him flying as an frozen statue? Because, as we know, time stops for a particle at the speed of light, but not for an observer.
