"I'm gonna thrash you within an inch of your life. AND THEN I'M GONNA TAKE THAT INCH!" As much of a doof nugget Wesley is, that line actually goes hard 😂🤣😂...
Wesley has entered the chat! Perfect addition to the crew in my opinion with his knowledge and experience. Plus, it's someone most viewers are familiar with so the getting to know you period isn't necessary. Bonus he's always good for a few laughs.
Hero aired on November 30, 1999. Glenn died almost exactly 3 years later on December 3, 2002. Nobody saw Wesley coming. The Empath Demon actor was better than expected, so we started to feel bad that he wasn't going to survive. The horn absorbs the essence. So it basically sucked him dry.
It's interesting how it's just part of the job, no real shame, for a watcher of their Slayer dies. But if their Slayer shows independence, that's a fire-able offense to the council.
Thanks guys. Good episode, good reaction/discussion. Glad they brought Wesley back and love the kissing joke. As for demons, my favorite is still to come.
the Scooby Gang/ex Scoobies right now: Buffy = slayer, Willow = witch, Giles = can perform basic magic, Oz = werewolf, Anya = ex demon, Angel = vampire, Cordelia = seer, Xander... still nothing! lol
Doyle always remembered even though he departed the show so early. Only thing is we get a great following episode here for Buffyverse Fans. What was brilliant about Angel as a show is how was able to develop the characters from BTVS that were maybe one dimensional. Angel, Cordelia and Wesley make that transition into the new show with ease, and it was great how these three worked so well after the premature loss of Doyle. Wesley develops possibly more than any other character in The Buffyverse, and is a brilliant addition to the show. Great comedy again when Cordelia kisses Wesley again, and he says 'I think it went considerably better than last time' Great writing. I don't care what anyone says Wesley becomes my favourite character in The Buffyverse.
A lot of people say that Glen Quinn was fired because of his drug use. I think that is mostly speculation and gossip as everything I've read that officially came from Joss Whedon's camp is that Doyle's departure was always the plan and that Glenn Quinn knew about it from the beginning. Joss had wanted to have a character who appeared in the opening credits get killed unexpectedly when he filmed the first episode of Buffy. Before Lost, Walking Dead, and Game of Thrones made it commonplace, credited actors were usually considered "safe". He wanted the character of Jesse to appear in the credits of Buffy so his death would be a shock to viewers, but the network wouldn't budget for two sets of credits.
To me it's felt like the "Joss wanting to kill the main character" thing has kinda started a life of its own in the fandom lore, and here was mostly used as a cover. Not just a cover for himself for killing a popular character, but also for the actor so that it wasn't because of his problems. Sure, Whedon had had the idea before, but it was Glenn Quinn's issues that presented the opportunity or maybe even forced them to execute it. Plus having a great substitute ready lessened the blow. Also from some interview w David Fury: "Joss has bandied about, 'I love the idea of putting a character in the main credits as one of the stars of the show and then kill him right off the bat,'" Fury said. "But in the case of Doyle, he didn't want to kill off Doyle. It just became a situation. The work situation became difficult.... It's hard enough to make a television show without the headaches."
@@odkres indeed, could they have cast him tho, knowing his issues so they could use the issues as the excuse to force it? like 4d chess lol could have been the plan the whole time, we know how devious them hollywierd types can be haha
lol yea no one saw cordi becoming a main stay character, like she was fun originally, i liked that one more, but the new version is nice, still annoying lol but without the ditzy blonde excuse, but her growth is fun so far. wait vamps can taste, eating just does nothing for them haha, some like wine for its taste, in many franchises they can get drunk if their victim is drunk. i think only a few the taste turns to ash, but cant remember which. yea nah most of the time i recall they can taste, they just dont like the taste mostly, maybe the sense is dulled? but they can smell and half of cooking is the smells, if food dont smell good they dont taste good or as good.
Imagine telling people during Buffy season 3 that one day Angel, Cordy and Wesley would be having cosy post-demon-hunting breakfasts together 💞
There’s a scean where the three of them are all fighting on graduation night
Trust me, you'll grow to love Wesley's character. He (and Cordy) have some of the best character development in the whole Buffyverse.

Mikey, Doyle died in the November 30, 1999 episode of "Angel".
Glenn Quinn died on December 3, 2002.

Finally the best character has returned Angel needed a rogue demon hunter.
Whats a Rogue Demon?
Vampires have a superior sense of smell, like a wolf's or something. I bet, with a memory of human cooking, they would be great chefs.

What I always read that it was supposed to be closer to the end of the season, but the drug use made them push it earlier.

Did Mikey recognise Alexis Denisof's name at the start there, I saw that look?
Nope didn't even know the actors name for Wesley haha
Wesley!
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
They dedicated the 100th episode of the series to Glenn Quinn after his passing, one of the few eps in season 5 worth watching.
Why is the show so low volume?
