This video applies to 2011-2014 3.6L Engine - Chargers, Challengers, Chrysler 300's, Grand Cherokees, etc with 5-Speed Nag 1 / W5A580 Transmissions. If you have the 8-Speed (8HP45RE) this video is not applicable.
I am going to do this fluid change next week but the info that I am finding when looking for a correct fluid amount seems to be varied from 4.3 quarts approx. up to 8. Did you use more than a 5qt container? Thank you for the vid!
It can vary slightly that's why this method of measuring what came out is important. If I remember right it was around 4 quarts, but again, make sure you use the graph to measure and ensure the correct level is in the nag1 transmission, very important.
Saw a video saying it can be 6-7 quarts on the 8-speed Trans... also, it’s important to check the temperature of the fluid while checking the fluid levels. Very complicated... dealership will cost about $650-$750
@@omarcortez6277 just cause you saw a video of that video "using 7-8 quarts" doesn't mean you will.. I saved myself thousands, well $1500 as others say, by doing it myself! Took over 8 hours but I got it done! Mine took 4.5 quarts on my 8 speed v6!
@@mrficks1838 I know this is an old video, but yup your right, mine took 4.5 quarts... and has 120k miles, and I don't think it's ever been done. How often should it be changed ?
@@B_HarTz - Just seeing this now - I think changing (also this won't be a 'full' change because 'one draining' only gets out about half of the fluid, I think) -- but about every 30k miles is a good idea. 30 -50k miles seems to be a good marker point for peace of mind since hearing reports of this transmission having problems if not 'babied'. Though IMO many abuse these transmissions and then complain they are no good.
For a 2013 V6 you will either have: - a 5 Speed (Name = Nag-1, aka W5A580, etc.) - an 8 Speed (Name = 845RE, 8HP45RE) You'll know which you have by how many gears you have. You can find this out by putting it in to manual mode or just listening for the shifts. For the 5 Speed you put it into manual mode by pushing the Shifter to the right once -- I don't know the procedure for the 8 Speed. If the tube is also not there then you have the 8HP45 transmission and it's a different process which all is done under the car at the transmission pan. Here's a video that shows it: ruclips.net/video/XObN94hkQ-Q/видео.html If you have the tube but no cap then you'll just need a new cap so moisture doesn't get in and damage the transmission.
Joe Biden's Shotgun • they have a probe machine designed for it... This method works just as well though. Also the mechanic might be reading the notice on the trans cap and not wanting to mess with it.. And/or void Warranty.
Hey I need help I have a 2013 Dodge Charger sxt awd with the 8HP45 Tranny and I’ve been trying for some weeks now to find the fill point on the transmission and I have ton dipstick or tube for dip stick I’m think it’s a plug style fill point but I can’t find any information on my issue . Reason for wanting to do fluid /filter change I think my Tran fluid going bad car has been late shifting/jerk only between 39-42 than it’s fines don’t think it’s anything major. Tengo un charger 2011 motor 3.6 pentastar, el carro es automático y manual de 5 velocidades, que aceite debo usar? Soy de Mexico
How did it drive after?
Does the v6 2011-2014 Chrysler 300 have the same filler point at the same location too
Yes they should.
Will all of this work for a 2012 3.6l v6 charger ?
Alexis Coulombe • Yes, works for 2011-2014.

If so then that's a big problem. I don't recommend you drive it until you put a cap on it.
