Umarex has the 22lr market cornered for sure. If any major brand had a 22lr pistol In the past 20 years, sig and colt come to mind, it was likely made by them

Between 502 and that 509 they are awesome firearms, the only thing I did to the 509 was I put a stronger recoil guide rod from Fn because I shoot the Winchester active duty ,Enjoy them be safe

To put that lever back up after fitting the slide back on the frame , its not "a struggle" just press on the top off the barrel and you can turn the lever smoothly ;-)

Very nice video. I have had my black FN 502 now for several months. I have found it to be extremely reliable and fun to shoot. The single action trigger is very crisp for a modern 22. I have about 1000 rounds through mine with near zero issues. I usually run just inexpensive Remington Thunderbolts through it and it runs great with most of the cheap stuff. I have not personally experienced a leading problem but have not had a suppressor on mine yet. Two things I would like to add. The rear sight actually remains when you put a red dot on the pistol. There is a rear sight on each of the optic mounting plates. Also, Apex now makes a replacement stainless steel guide rod for this pistol that is very slick.

Well now this is a interesting video and a very interesting 22LR semi-auto pistol. I own the FN 502 tactical in FDE and I do like it but for me the worst thing about it is the trigger. The trigger brakes okay and it is a light break but the reset is just horrible. That is one reason that I like my sig Sauer p322 much better and I like the capacity of the sig p322 much better. I feel like that FN really dropped the ball by not coming out with a more competitive higher capacity magazine.

I just returned to Sig Sauer a Sig Sauer Model 1911 made by UX. It had a terrible time cycling ANY brand of 22 ammo except stingers. I think it was because of how big and heavy the gun was.
In your opinion which gun is going to be more dependable, the Sig P322, the FN 502 Tactical, Walther PPQ or something else? I’m a little weary of jamming problems.

Good stuff, I didn't know that about Umarex. Learn something new every day. 👍 thought about picking up a 22 because of cheaper ammo but haven't actually pulled the trigger on it.🤷‍♂️ shop down the street has some walther 22 pistols for like 350 I think. Might pick one up just to have a plinker. This thing looks pretty identical to my 509 though minus the safety. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the vid! I really like the pistol, or I should say I want to like the fn 502. Haven't shot it but I've held it in the store a couple times. Feels great in the hand and I do like the external hammer. Has a good weight to it, feels solid and also has a bit longer barrel... but is it worth the $200+ over the taurus tx22? The tx22 doesn't feel as good in my hand, but still not terrible. It feels cheaper but thats because it is cheaper lol.. The sig feels good in my hand too (kinda between the taurus and the fn), has nice capacity mags and has fiber optic sights, but just how concerned should I be about the barrel leading issue? Ah decisions, decisions...

Just bought it, not impressed. A few ftf. Not horrible but not great either. Bigger issue was the mag release on both sides. I kept releasing the mag inadvertently with my right hand, on the right side of the gun. I'm right-handed. I have to adjust my grip and even then I released it again a few times. The sights were off the gun shot high and to the left consistently. I'm probably going to put a red dot on it so I'm not super fired up about that.

  • @plantguy100

The FN is among the most expensive .22LRs. Is it worth the the extra $50 over the Sig P322? Is it worth more than the Beretta, also Umarex made, the Walther PPQ and of course the Taurus TX22?. As you've said, Umarex makes lots of the .22LR, including the S&W. So many of them have ammo issues and frankly for this price, we should be getting better guns. Most will only function well with CCIs, which of course is the most expensive ammo. Other HV options from Remington, Federal and Aguila, among others, may or may not work well. Constant failure to feed/eject gets quite annoying.

I bought my first one (FDE) September 2021 and my second one (black) in July 2022. The 502 is much better than the other pistols in its class, specifically the Sig 322 of which I also have.
