Well now this was a interesting video and I own the FN 502 in fde. As far as I'm concerned this is a very well designed and functional 22 LR semi-auto pistol. Ran through somewhere around 3000 rounds with virtually no problems and the accuracy seems to be very good. It is not my favorite 22 semi-auto pistol that I own, that honor would have to go to the sig Sauer p322 I think my Taurus TX 22 competition would come in number two, I am very glad that I bought the FN 502 tactical.
Just found and bought the FDE............ to add to my TX 22 and Beretta m9 22..report will come later... + get a front optic installed: Well done...thoughtfully explained: Thanks
Nice review. Too bad every gun dealer is basically "scalping" these. MSRP is around $480 ish. They are going right now for almost $1000.00 right now. You have to be out-right out of your mind to pay $1000 for a 22lr handgun. Too bad FN isnt doing anything about it. Nice gun but I can wait. My Glock 44 in 22lr is fine right now. Good job though....
MSRP is $499. I looked everywhere for one. Gunbroker had plenty ranging from $700-1200. No thanks! Found one at Scheels online on 12/13 and picked it up at my local Scheels-$499. Paired with a Rugged Oculus Suppressor this little .22 rocks!
Ya go figure….. not sure if it’s the distributors or the dealers but they sure are vultures ….. budsgunshop does have them right now for 508.00 cash……. Just a heads up
A friend has a 502 and I have shot is a couple of times. I really liked it. Has a 9mm feel, is accurate (his had red dot) and very few malfunctions. It surprised me when he mentioned he had sent the gun back to FN for work. What?? It's almost new. Well, apparently, there is excess wear in the slide which revealed itself in cleaning. FN tried to call this normal wear but he's only had the gun for 3 months and wouldn't put up with that dismissive attitude. He's a competitive shooter (15 yrs shotgun, now long rifle and I've seen him hit a target at 1000 yds and 1 mile at a private range outside Ephriam, UT.) I'm wondering anyone else has had this experience or is this a one-off.
I just got one and I’ve had it for like 2 weeks and it’s been pile of shit, I gotta contact Fn or take the gun back to cabelas I think I got a defective gun, or are they all shit
They’ve had a couple recalls on the earlier models, people have been changing out the guide rod and the spring. I just got mine (2024) and am waiting for some parts to switch out. Haven’t shot it yet. I’ll probably do a few mags before and then run it with the new stuff after. See if I can notice a different. Also I’ve seen people polishing their ramps.
And I got myself one in flat dark earth and it rocks. The trigger is outstanding. I had no issues with it. The weight of it is perfect and the only thing it’s better than this 22 LR is a Volquartsen Black Mamba!
It looks good and has a nice trigger, but they might not have bothered with the open sights. It is obviously made for a dot sight, but if you buy it thinking you will just use the open sights, then think again. They are on the quality level of bb gun sights. It is easy to move the front sight with thumb pressure. FN will say to put FN 509 sights on the 502. Just leave off the open sights in the first place so that the buyer doesn't have the impression that they are useful.
I put the Trijicon FN 509 Suppressor Height Night sights on my FN 502 Tactical. I was the guinea pig as Trijicon confirmed dovetail dimensions but couldn’t confirm if the sights were compatible. As they had not tried it. I didn’t want the blacked out sights. Waiting on a Sparrow for my accurized MK2 and 502 Tactical. Good video I’m twelve minutes in so far. 275 rounds through the 502 today. Remington Gold Bullet it didn’t like at all. No Bueno brother. Not reliable at all.. The Aguila Super Hollow Point worked best. Federal Punch had hiccups in the beginning. Regarding holsters. I’ve ordered three total so far.. FN E Store FN 509/502 garbage. Waste of $90. Now idk what to do with it. Red Earth my buddy John is gonna modify my NUKA OTWB. Just was a little tight is all. Should fit with my Sparrow I’m waiting for. The other one is from Gunfightersinc. Also RH OTWB. I only conceal carry my HK VP9SK. Don’t like to appendix carry anymore. My holster guy uses the same Gemtech you do.
This came out two years ago, but just showed up in my feed. A couple of comments anyway. I agree with your sentiment that 'shoot what you feel comfortable with.' A whole lot of people cringe at the very thought of a 1911 in .45, yet that's my EDC (at least when I was carrying every day). I was a Range Safety Officer for a while, and we had prison guards who would come out once a month or so to shoot. They'd shoot 9mm, and this one girl couldn't hit a target at 15 yards to save her life with a 9. She was anticipating and hitting the ground up to 15 yards in front of the target. So, a .22LR, for people who aren't comfortable with anything bigger is a good choice. The next comment is on optics. My 1911 has a laser grip (came that way from Kimber), and for defensive shooting, I'm using the laser to aim with. I can see the laser, especially in a darker situation, very easily and I don't need a sight picture. Dot on target and shoot. So, in a defensive carry situation, I'd want a small laser for the front rail. Laser Max has both red and green lasers (mine is red, I'd go green if buying new) that mount to the rail. Obviously, I'd want a holster that supports that, but if I could find one. But, I would want a laser (that is reliable) over sights, for night time, dark area use, as well as the ability to put it on target quicker. Also, a red or green dot on someone's chest is a stark reminder that you're 'on target' and 'an attention getter.'
On my daughter's 21st we went to a gun shop and she tried all sorts of handgun out. She settled on a Springfield XD subcompact in 9mm. As a NRA shooting instructor and RO I could not get her to o hit a refrigerator size target with that gun. The trigger was giving her fits. One day while we were shooting I ask her to shoot my Kimber 1911 in .45acp. I did not have high hopes🎉 due the the bigger cartridge and heftier weight but oh man I was shocked. She took to that 1911 like a pig to mud and shot it amazingly well.night and day difference. I wound up buying her an Ed Brown Kobra Carry .45. it's a great 1911 and she is scary accurate with it. It just goes to show you a change of handguns can help. On another note and what brought me here is the FN 502 which I just acquired recently. I like it a lot and added an AAC free suppressor, streamlight TLR-1HL and Holosun 509c. I'll get her to try it out soon and see what she thinks of the FN
@@reloadNshoot The 1911 is one wonderful pistol to shoot. What I've found, especially with women, is they are afraid of the recoil, or alleged recoil. We've done such a disservice to all shooters with television shows and movies, etc. People are expecting pistols to hurt them. A few years ago, one of the guys at the range bought a S&W .460, IIRC. He had a bipod on the front of it, and he offered me the chance to shoot it. I said 'Sure, no problem.' We were on the 100 yard range, and it was very easy to put three rounds on target at 100 yards. The recoil that everyone was afraid of wasn't that bad. Okay, it lifted the muzzle up about 30-40º from the horizontal, I wouldn't expect anything less, but it was very easy to shoot. The thing is, though, someone sits down behind something like that and it's like 'Oh wow, this is .460, the recoil is going to kill me!' They hold it with a death grip. @@desertwolfarmory you’ve clearly never owned one. I’m giving the 502 a second chance, if it doesn’t perform I’m going back to a tx22. It makes me cringe to say it, but it’s the standard for what polymer 22 pistols should be. Runs anything you feed it for as long as you shoot it. Less than 250rds into the 502 and it’s gummed up and doesnt function. Great feeling, shoots nice when squeaky clean but it’s not as reliable or resilient.
The 502 is overpriced, and made by Umarex, a German air gun company. It only comes with one magazine, and extras are unavailable right now. I don’t see the advantage of the slide mounted optic. The reset on the trigger is long. I have the 509, and was very interested in buying a 502. Right now these are selling for over $600, and have, I think, a $479 list price. I compared the 502 to the Taurus TX22 competition, and bought the Taurus. The Taurus lists for $533, and I bought one for $459 with free shipping. Taurus corrected everything I disliked about the original TX22. Now it has capability of a barrel mounted optic ( nice because the barrel doesn’t move) , the suppressor adapter is gone, the pencil barrel has been replaced by more of a bull barrel, and the accuracy is much improved. I compared it off a rest, with my Ruger MK4. Both with Venom optics. The Taurus kept up with my Ruger from 10 to 20 yards. Giving the Ruger the edge at 20 yards, because of the Volquartsen trigger. With the addition of a Tandemkross trigger, the Taurus will be even better. Right now, the striker fired trigger is really decent. The Tandemkross trigger will have pre and over travel adjustment. Just waiting for it to arrive.
Here we are in 2024 and I just purchased a FN 502(comes with 2 magazines) for $429, Holosun red dot $310, streamlight $158 and 2 extra 15rd magazines $66. A bit over $1000 with tax. It's just going to be a plinker and used for dispatching trapped critters. Not a target gun but should work for what I need.
Horrible gun my FN 502 never did shoot. Everything that could happen did with this gun. On top of everything else the customer service is by far the worst I have ever dealt with. Parts are hard to get so if you buy this gun you better hope yours works. There are too many other good guns out there to purchase an inferior gun like this.

Does Chicago require something more than a CCL to legally carry? I thought I heard something about that but wasn't sure. I work out there sometimes unfortunately. An I carry. Just don't want any legal issues if I ever needed to use it. Hopefully will never have too.

Lotta talking no Shooting no Take down instructions could’ve been a lot more versatile video
Make your own video if you are going to complain so much like a girl

Forget about shooting this gun.. because it’s impossible to find anywhere.
* just meant as a joke..... not taking away from the video or the gun.. *

Bass pro has them now I bought mine today 499
Taurus tx 22 comp has red dot ready slide.
The Taurus has it on the barrel, not the slide.
@@jtc406 My friends keyholes regularly
@@RCXDerp he should have is pistol fixed, that’s an issue with his. Not all.
Less talking , how about shooting it !
