Tips: you have to soak to water and salt the shredded bloosoms at least 10mins And squeeze it. Wash at least 3times. It will help eliminate the bitter taste. Then boil with kalamansi or lemon juice it will make it lighter in color and not black.drain after boiling cook. Then you can proceed cooking to with different dishes. May favorite is salad. Once boiled, just squeeze the water. In a bowl just add coconut cream/coconut milk, lemon or kalamansi, salt, onion, ginger and black pepper. And red chili if you want it spicy. No need to cook. Just mix qnd ready to serve. You can also do that with jackfruit. Unripe jackfruit, boiled
@gatasalvaje8611 nope. Fresh. The only thing boiled is the banana blossom. You could actually use boiled unripe jackfruit or grilled eggplant. 😋😋😋. It's called salad
Banana blossom yummy if you put coconut milk saute with onion, garlic and you can put meat or shrimp.. yummy also for kare kare banana blossom, flower of banana you can put it also for pata tim😋
Banana blossom and green jackfruit are meat substitute for vegan and vegetarian since you Andrei don’t eat meat this will be a good alternative for meat besides tofu. Banana flowers are very good in kare-kare instead of ox tail just cut them in chunks. Here in Australia very limited to get the right banana blossoms so I buy them in cans same as the green jackfruit though I prefer to get a fresh one. So I said to myself when I retire in the future I believe I can very well live back in my own country as vegan coz we have lots of fruits and vegetables to choose from it is just up to your imagination 😊
In the middle of each banana flower there is a hard stick (like a toothpick ) , discard that before cuttng. Banana blossoms are high in fiber and low in calories. They also contain antioxidants, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, copper, zinc, and essential amino acids.
I appreciate mama Olga for always trying to cook something for her family. Even if it is not the perfect way to cook the recipe it is ok as long as they find it masarap ❤😊. It is the love of family that draws us to watch them n many of us see r family in them.
To prepare the banana blossom, you need to separate the florets and remove the pistil ( matchstick-shaped which should be plucked and discard) . Pour salt and knead to remove the bitterness then wash well to remove the salt. You can use the banana blossom with kare-kare. Or you can cook with other green leafy vegetables or you can cook it with coconut milk only.
yeah! that's right po, yan sana ang comment ko..that's the right procedure on how to cook the banana blossom or banana heart. put some salt and wash it well to remove the dagta😅 and salt.
Andrei, when cooking banana blossoms, first there is a hard stick you need to remove from each banana strand. I dont really know how you call it. Every part that is soft is usable. So many ways to use it. You can use it on soup, sautee/ stirfry with pork or shrimp and coconut mik, or put it in kare kare. Also it needs to be soak in water with salt and then squeeze it to remove the sticky residue, or it will turn bitter. 4:51 What mama Olga did was really good though. Looks delicious!❤
Try unriped jackfruit also. Same process. They call it tortang langka. Boit it then if its already cold squeeze then remove the extract so that it is not bitter.
Mama Olga slice thinly the banana heart, then sprinkle with salt and squeeze to remove the resin of the banana heart.then rinse the squeezed banana vegetable and squeeze again.😊 Saute the ginger garlic, onion, tomatoes.you can add pork strips and coconut milk.season with salt and pepper, presto you'll have a delicious vegetable in coconut milk.😊❤Enjoy.😊
You can saute with garlic, onions,a choice of eggs, fish, seafoods or any kinds of meat, even plain with just seasoning Magic Sarap and flour ,fry it until you see it's golden brown, deep with banana catsup,Toyo with kalamansi or lemon or even vinegar with a dash of sugar ,salt and slice cucumber it's all so very delicious ❤
you take the hard stick first, before cooking the puso ng saging. then you can chop it and add a little salt and squeeze it so that the liquid from squeezing it will not mix it to the soup.
You can do the same with unripe jackfruit. Make friiers out of it. Just remove the skin, core, and seeds, slice and boil the flesh. Drain the water, add well- beaten eggs, minced garlic and finely sliced onions, black pepper and flour. Shape like burgers and fry.
Andre, the pistil/stigma “needle like” part from the florets has to be removed before cooking, also must be soaked in salt to remove the banana heart’s natural bitterness (bitter sap).
Nice for a first try. Better way of preoaring it is to take all the inner flowers and patiently remove the hard stick and film inside them. It might be tedious but those things are hard and wont cook well. Next is to mince or grate it and then either soak or boil it salty water then squeeze it out to remove water and bitter teste. The dish will have an overall pleasant taste and texture.
Mabait At Mapagmahal Na Anak Si Andrei Sa Kanyang Mama Olga.. At Hindi Sya Madamot Sa Pagkain,Makkita At Marramdamn Mo Talga Ang Kabaitan Ng Puso Nya. Araw² Po Ako Nanonood Ng Mga Video Nya,Inaabangan Ko Lagi Kng May Bago,Sarap Nilang Panoorin Kumakain Silang Lahat At Sarap Na Sarap Sila😊😊😊Lalo Na Yong Pamangkin Nyang Si "Mr.Masarap😊"
You must to remove the flower stick inside before mix to slice part then put a little salt and squiz by your hand to remove the bitter taste water of the blosom dont remove center part the small heart shape because it sweety you can cook it w/ coconut milk also.
Add an ample amount of oil in the pan if you want to fry them better/evenly - like a fritter. The middle will always be half or not cooked and outside is burnt if there is only a small amount of oil. 😊
It’s one of my favorite vegetables to cook. I make it sisig style; shred the banana blossoms (like shredding a cabbage but take off the fleur outside) then squeeze and rub it w/ rock salt , then squuezing it in running water 2x. Saute with garlic, shrimps, pork and diced tomato til wilted. Lastly put in vinegar, pepper and a lil water 1/2 c.until it’s dry and cooked. Bon Appetit🧑🏻🍳
I cook bannana heart as torta. Clean the blossoms by removing the match-like thingy inside, dice blossoms and petals then boil it with salted water, strain then beat it with eggs, season with salt and peper. You can also put onion leaves then fry it.
You should remove the middle of the flower that looks like a matchstick, because it is tough to chew!, I think that you have to soak the sliced banana heart in water with a little vinegar ,to prevent it from turning black, that's what people say, research it to be sure , it's a delicious substitute to beef burger patty, just spread some mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, ymustard, ketchup on the burger buns, it's a perfect meatless burgers
Vegan burger patties? This is probably Andrei's recipe. Best recipe for banana heart is chicken curry. You put chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, ground pepper, bay leaf, salt, chili pepper (optional) and a cup of 2nd extract of coconut milk. 2nd extract of coconut milk is After the first squeeze of coconut milk (set it aside), and the left out grated coconut is mixed with 1 cup water and squeezed again. That's known as "2nd coconut milk extract. Bring to a boil until chicken is semi cooked, put the chopped banana heart, 1 tbsp of curry powder, and after chicken and banana heart is tender, pour the thick 1st extract of coconut milk and simmer. Do not let it dry out. It should be like a coconut milky consistency.
I suggest that when you are trying a new recipe,it will help a lot if you watch how to prepare a dish from you tube first. The banana blossoms has florets round each cover, the pistl inside should have been removed and discarded. However, boiling and slicing thinly probably helped to lessen the bitter taste.
Banana blossom is also delicious in pork sinigang or chicken sinigang. You can also make salad, just boil it to tender and squeeze it to remove the water then add coconut milk, onions, garlic, ginger and salt to taste. If you make a patties make it thinner so that it will be cooked inside
MEATLESS BURGER & BANANA BLOSSOM (PUSO) SALAD Andrei, you can create a "meatless burger" for your nephews using a mix of banana blossom, a certain mushroom, tofu (curdled soya milk) and monggo sprouts. Your nephews would really ❤️ "meatless burger" for an afternoon snacks. Btw, I also ❤️ "banana blossom (puso) salad." It's one of my favorites. There are days I crave for "banana blossom (puso) salad." Check out a few YT videos on how to make one.
you can also make the puso ng saging into pickles. 1. clean the puso and take the hard stick 2, cook it to make it tender, 3, drain and set aside, 4. prepare the ingridients for pickles such as, chop ginger, tomatoes, onions and make a coconut milk then mix them all, add vinegar and salt to taste or a lttle sugar. that's it. Puson ng Saging na Pickles....sarap!!!!😋😋😋
It is best to discard or remove the stick-like filament in the banana blossom . You can also try cooking banana heart in coconut milk by adding either pork, fried fish or anchovy, and seasoned with shrimp paste.
Andrei.not all banana heart is allow..but the other banana heart.wee have a banana heart like ampalaya.but carsava is only allowing to cook like that, salad also w ith coconut milk.
I've seen my mother mashing/squeezing the banana blossom (after cutting) with salt until the juice will come out. Then rinse with water. You can add that floret (tiny banana flower) but remove the hard sticklike or called pistil inside and the calyx. Diko alam sa Tagalog. 😅
This is the first time I saw puso ng saving cooked like that like a meat patty or burger. Looks delicious though. It's usually ginisa or kinilaw or salad.
Grated banana heart are usually sold in markets. The vendor soak this in salt water to prevent them from turning brown. Just wash thoroughly before cooking. It is a good substitute for meat.
After boiling and removing water, you can simply saute it in garlic and onion already fine. You can also slice it in a chunk boil and remove water you can add it in the pork monggo recipe perfect
You can also chop it and put it in water with salt then squeeze. Saute with onion, garlic, ginger, tuen coconut milk and season with salt, pepper, a little chilli, fish sauce and boil until tender the banana heart
Oil is too little and the banana blossom patty is too thick. When frying, make sure the oil is hot and you have enough amount to fill the entire pan to fry 5 or more patties.
u can saute w/garlic & onion, pork (bite size) or dried fish. add pre-cooked banana blossoms or raw jackfruit add coco mama or fresh coconut milk. add sotanghon (glass noodles) bring to boil ....... SO YUMMY 😋😋😋
My late dad loved to cook that kind of dish, but with lots of tomatoes and green onions. You can try that next time. No need to add water while frying as long as you have boiled the banana heart. Happy cooking mama Olga.
Omg .I will try to cooked this way..looks like hamburger Patty great way to substitute with a meat..to lower the cholesterol 🤣....luv it ...the way she cooked this...try also the #adobongpusongsaging its a banana blossom with soy sauce and little vinegar...😊....
