I performed this service today on my 2012 TL which still had all OG bulbs. Was able to remove bumber cover fairly easy and swap out low HID/high beams and fog lights. Took my time, and it came out really good. Thanks for posting, most appreciated!
Great video as always with clear, step by step instructions on how to do it yourself! Many DIY’s take extra time and patience especially when it is your first time doing it. Part of fun of DIY’s is the actual process of getting it done. When you do it yourself, you know it was done correctly, saved a ton of money and the satisfaction that boosts one’s confidence and self-esteem is priceless. Your almost 11 year-old car now has brand new lights & fog lights in the front. Great job! You motivate others to try these projects with your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Great vid - thanks for posting. I have an 09 TL which I’m updating. Was the upgrade a straight up plug and play? Don’t really wanna mess with the TL’s wiring so I’m hoping this is an easy solution. Thanks again!
So far, no issues with them! Since I stuck with HID for the low beams, the hardest part was getting to the bulb itself. After that, it's just a simple swap. For the fog lights, no warning lights came on or anything like that after I've put in LEDs. Hope that helps!
Nice video production! In my case someone smashed a fog light cover on my 2013 TL so I need to completely remove the front bumper. You partially removed the bumper but could you explain how to remove the whole thing? Also at around 3:05 you say to remove 6 screws, could you explain where they are? Any tips on removing the bumper would be very much appreciated, Thanks!
thanks for the video. of all the DIY mods that I'm willing to try on my TL, changing the low beams is probably the one that scares me the most because of the bumper removal. having said that, I do think I need to change them on mine so I'm going to have to give this a go after this winter. the next scary mod would be to install the short shifter, which I'm also very afraid of when it comes to removing the center console. are you planning to do that given you have a 6MT?
For me, I'm good with the stock shifter, even though the throws aren't the shortest, so I was going to leave it as-is. Thanks for watching - good luck on your bulb change!
I had a person put in the wiring, and I mounted the lights myself. They're held in with double sticky tape (I think I searched for "automotive" or "outdoor" ones). I didn't know how long they would last, but multiple years went by and they're still there! ruclips.net/video/dO-kIWEFTIM/видео.htmlsi=hMMOsRxgxzjzGWy5
The high beams (same bulb that for DRLs) are even easier to get to - no need to remove your bumper. The intake and coolant reservoirs are easy to get out of the way to get to the bulb
Thanks this was super helpful, waiting for my bulbs now super relieved to see I can swap high beams easily first before the lows. In the vid it looks like you didn’t remove the bottom bolts of the bumper correct? Just took out the top and wheel well ones?
I went to a body shop and they told me the reason it was so difficult is they didn’t want people to steal them back in the day. HID were expensive in the early 2000s lol
@@khalidramji8083 Guy at Acura just explained to us that it's because of theft apparently. It is a costly bulb. The dealer charged $295 for the replacement with labor. Complete robbery regardless.
@@LightsAndButtons I also thought it was a stretch. Definitely a costly bulb, even if you DIY. Even more so if you need the ballast. But to bury it so deep, not practical... IMO. Cheers!

Thanks for watching! I have more shots on the bumper removal here: ruclips.net/video/dO-kIWEFTIM/видео.html

What about those extra lights you have on the bottom? How did you install those?

Gonna be doing this on my car soon, 2014 TL
are the high beams just as easy to get to as the HID once the light assembly is off?

This video alone is all I need to never buy an Acura. Essentially remove a bumper to replace a bulb? Bite it Acura!

😂 seems like a lot, I just went through the wheel weld, much easier for the low beam. But to each their own.

Wow, I've never heard of that. I'd hear people would go for taking wheels/cats but not bulbs lol
