- We all need a little inspiration sometimes. My inspiration for this kiln unload was coyote turquoise lake and the spectrum glazes used on this big bowl! Other glazes combos include amaco and mayco. I’ll share them all with you.

That spectrum bowl 😮❤. I’ve gotta start looking at those glazed. Love it!
Thanks Aubrey! Yes those spectrum glazes are fun!
Hi Lisa, another great opening, you are the person who convinced me, through your kiln openings to purchase Spectrum glazes, not only are they beautiful but also cheaper than Amaco and Mayco and made right here in Canada!
I know ! Definitely better priced!
If there was A “Pottery Awards” like the Grammy’s - You would win big in the Glazing category! Seriously amazing Lisa! That Very Best mug at 8:11!!! Get out of here! 😂 Amazing kiln opening, thanks for sharing! 💜💜
Natalie that is so kind. Thank you!
Oh, that's what I call a successful kiln load! I love, love the last bowl, it is heavenly! Yout color mix with the turquoise, alabaster, flux and raspberry/sangria are really beautiful. We do not have spectrum, nor coyote here in Iceland, and only selective Amaco and Mayco to choose from, so I rely heavily on making my own glazes and always wind up not having enough test tiles to try out different variations. But it is so much fun seeing which glazes fit one another and do not crawl or crack upon meeting up. opening a kiln is always like magic.
Agreed it is magic! I used to make all my own glazes and need to start doing more of that again!
Love your studio green on the brown clay Great mugs and vases
I love the vintage vibe from that green 😊
Your last bowl was stunning. Wow! Now I need to buy even more glazes 😅
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! So generous and glaze combos are fabulous!! Xxx❤
You are so welcome!
As always the pieces look beautiful, the big bowl is magnificent.
Well done, I'll need to start writing down the combinations you use to try them myself. Slowly I am setting up my studio since June 2023 and getting glazes together.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks! Always so much fun to play 😊
I don’t know how you have the energy to switch out clays like you do lol. Or maybe I make it more complicated than it needs to be. Everything turned out beautiful!!
I used to fret about switching clays until I talked to a very experienced potter who told me unless you are needing a pure white background an occasional brown smudge isn’t going to hurt anything. Now I take about an hour to switch out. I do have a wedging board for each clay type tho.
@@finklepottery704 I guess they are right lol. I’ve been too lazy to switch to my red clay lol. It’s time though. Beautiful work!
Wow Lisa! Love the last bowl! Amazing how the colours play together!!
Thanks!
Hi Lisa! Thanks for sharing. Beautiful pieces! FYI, if you have a scale you can measure specific gravity. 100ml of water weighs 100 grams. If 100 ml of glaze weighs 150 grams, it has a specific gravity of 1.5. It's actually more accurate to weigh instead of using a hygrometer with glaze. I love the Very Best turquoise mug! And that large bowl at the end turned out spectacular!
Thanks for the tip. Good to know!
That large bowl is truly amazing!
Thank you!
Everything was nice but you were right - you saved the best for last. That bowl is awesome!
Thank you!
Hi Lisa! Oh wow, your last bowl is just stunning! I like the same colors that you do, and the Coyote turquoise lake is beautiful. It looks like it has a little bit more green to it than my turquoise glaze. I might have to try it! Your glaze combinations are so inspiring to me! Thank you for sharing!❤
Thank you Ana! Yes I am loving turquoise lake 😊
Wow!! Gorgeous bowl! I love how you added the divets..and that glaze combo OMG 😳 STUNNING! I haven’t used my cactus in a while because it wasn’t playing nice with layering 😂 I will try again. Love all of your pieces…couldn’t ask for a better kiln opening 🎉🎉!! Thanks for sharing Lisa!
Thanks Molly! I haven’t had any issues with cactus yet but…. You know pottery. You never know what you’ll see when you open that lid lol
Another awesome share. I too am on the Spectrum train. I've been adding the soft red, soft aqua and soft blue to my mug rims and watching the magic. The Autumn Purple doesn't come out as purple on its own. I am thinking I may not be getting it hot enough. Thanks again for sharing and inspiring.
Hi susan. Autumn purple for me often comes out more blue with hints of purple. You just never know what you’ll get with it.
That bowl is spectacular! I need to try some spectrum glazes.
What an amazing kiln load!! I so love the turquoise colors as well. You really killed it with the last bowl!! I happen to have all of the glazes you used on that so I am definitely going to have to try something similar. Thank you so much for always sharing your incredible glaze combinations.
You are most welcome!
Loving Cactus next to Autumn Purple! 💜💚
Thanks Amanda! I hope all went well with the baby?
@finklepottery704 Hi Lisa, Thanks for asking! Yes, she is so wonderful her name is Fern and she is one month old today! She is my second, & my son is 6, but I'm so excited for a girl!
Oh my how perfect is that name ❤️ fern. Baby girl living in the forest. Congratulations!
Wow! That bowl is amazing!
Thanks!
You are truly inspiring, thank you! I need to try that lake aqua glaze. Btw, your last bowl was one of the most beautiful bowls I’ve seen! ❤
Thank you so much!
All beautiful ! Western canada :)
Thank you western Canada! 😊
❤WOW!❤
Love that twilight
Yes it is a great glaze !
How do you make such crisp logos application? Beautiful glaze combos?
Are you asking about the underglaze decals? If so, I find applying them at the damp clay stage really helps.
Wow! All winners
Thanks!
