Seasons 1-3 feel like a totally different show. Way more nostalgic and Lowkey. The later seasons are more joke-y and fast paced. I like both parts of the show, let me be clear, but yeah there is a distinct change.

She was in the Bruce Springsteen, Dancing in the Dark, video and then the sitcom Family Ties and was the most known cast member.coming into the Friends series. Courtney saw early scripts and lobbied to play Monica as she identified with that character. She’s a bit OCD etc. I love how neurotic she is. It’s relatable and charming. I love how the show pulled traits from the actors into the characters too.
It doesn't get totally awesome till like the end of 2nd season. S3 onwards its absolutely the best tv series on the planet, humor wise and dialogue wise

i agree with you. Imo ross easily has the most interesting job of the group. if anything i think it’s weird they don’t love dinosaurs. Also as someone who has OCD i love monica’s representation. I relate to her a lot even though she experiences more cleaning OCD like my mother does. i do think it’s sad they make fun of her but imo try your best not to take them making fun of each other too harshly, They do it a lot and it’s out of love!
So it was RACHEL who initiated the kiss not ROSS. He was going to stand up and continue their laundry, but Rachel was just so excited that she stood up to the rude lady she just kissed him. Don’t worry it’s not a romantic kiss, it was more of a spur of the moment/excitement of the moment kind of kiss that caught Ross by surprised. Not good for Ross’ feelings for Rachel cuz that only makes things confusing. But yeah there is foreshadowing of a possible romance between the two, but that’s just it for now. As you wanted, Rachel will live for herself first and even meet new people/guys aka possible love interests. Ross is still dealing with his own personal things like his estranged wife and her partner as well as his baby. There’s still a lot going in season 1, just enjoy it and don’t get so psyched out with every interaction especially between Ross and Rachel. 😂 they have a loooonggggg history..you have not even reached the beginning of it 😅

This is absolutely one of my favouritecomfort shows, but it is worth mentioning that its 30 years old and things have changed in that time :P I've never felt like Friends did something offensive or awful, but I've definitely had my moments upon rewatch where I end up rolling my eyes over something dumb from the 90s XD Just wanna say, try not to be too surprised if something hasn't aged well, and don't let mean comments get to you for not "reacting correctly".
This show is sorta strange in that it has elements of the girl boss themes that are super prevalent today but that isn’t the sole focus. It’s much more about relationships. The Ross and Rachel stuff does feel rushed but without that then there would be no relationship dynamic for people to ship. And that is a huge thing in shows. No one else in the friend group has relationship potential with each other.

I know Ross is coming a little strong but I just find him adorable. He's also trying to be respectful by not telling her how he feels or making an actual move because it hasn't been that long since she left Barry (or since he got divorced for that matter). And as others have said, Rachel kissed him but it wasn't in a romantic way, just a friendly "spur of the moment" thing. Anyway, in spite of watching this episode about a 1000 times, I only just recently noticed there is something on Rachel's back under her shirt in that scene, specifically when they kiss. I assume it's attached to the mic or something. It's clear Monica has a problem that goes beyond wanting things to be a certain way and it may seem cruel that they're making fun of her for it, but that's what they do. They also make fun of Ross's job, Rachel being a "spoiled brat", Phoebe's weirdness, Chandler's constant jokes and Joey's acting jobs. Sure, some of these things are their choice (like their profession) and not something they can't control like Monica, but it's still something the others make fun of them for. One of the things I love about the show is how they often flip the genders, like with Chandler's situation with Aurora. It's often been portrayed on TV that guys are seeing multiple different women but never the other way around. Although in reality, I doubt these things often work, regardless of gender. Btw, Sofia Milos who plays Aurora is absolutely GORGEOUS so I don't blame Chandler 😂 But Matthew was good looking too, even though they wanted us to think he wasn't. Fun facts: Maggie Wheeler (Janice) accidentally let out that iconic laugh, mainly due to Matthew Perry and his comedic skills, which was added to the character. Also, there were rumors that Maggie auditioned for Monica but she has denied this. The laughs after Ross says "Yes there is a laundry room in my building" (that delivery is so good!) is also due to David and Jennifer laughing after a studio light blew during a take. E6 is actually the first episode that features 'The Rachel' haircut, and, ironically, Jennifer Aniston hated it. Also, the movie director is James Burrows who directed several episodes (not this one though).

Maggie Wheeler ("Janice") has said that she's lost count of the number of fans who've come up to her and said they love Janice and hate how mean the other characters were to her in the scripts. David Schwimmer's comedic instincts and physicality were amazing, and as the seasons went on the writers gleefully revelled in putting him in ever more embarrassing predicaments, - and he always rose to the challenge.

You're absolutely right to call out their bad behaviours. It's an old show, and the characters will do a lot of things that are considered toxic today.
I mean it’s not real if you treat friends like that and they don’t like it, then it might be a toxic friendship. But if they all like to make fun of each other and they don’t get far too personal it should be fine.
I think it’s more of her wanting more character growth/development for Rachel. But again I understand her point of view of Ross and Rachel’s friendship/situationship. I feel once she gets into the midway point into season 1, she’ll be okay…maybe.😂
