Welcome to The Wizarding World rabbit hole that is Harry Potter. The best thing about the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, to me is that the chambers following the third-floor corridor containing Fluffy each play to the strengths of Harry, Ron and Hermione. The Devil's Snare chamber caters to Hermione's knowledge of spells. (Even though she froze up out of fear in the book and had to be reminded that she was a witch by Ron) The room with the winged keys caters to Harry's skill with quidditch. And the chess room caters to Ron's knowledge of how to play chess. Side notes: The Sorting Hat chooses new students' houses based on their corresponding personality traits: Gryffindor-Bravery, helping others, and chivalry. Hufflepuff-Hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play. Ravenclaw-Intelligence, knowledge, and wit. Slytherin-Ambition, cunning and resourcefulness. Erised (The Mirror of Erised) is the word desire spelled backward. Hedwig is a snowy owl. They have ruffled wing feathers to silence their flight so prey animals don't hear them coming. They also have natural camouflage due to their coloration, and they're the only birds of prey who don't have bare feet due to their habitats, like the Arctic Tundra. At the time of the deaths of Lily and James Potter at the hands of Voldemort, Harry was only 15 months old.
Oh! This was brilliant. I’ve watched the films and seen the books so many times that I got bored of them. So now I mainly watch reactions to the films because I see the films through other people’s eyes and find new things to appreciate. Nicolas Flamel is a real world historical figure. As is his connection to the Philosopher's Stone, which dates back to King Solomon in the Bible. There's a huge amount of real history that JK studied to develop these books. Even each character's name is purposeful. Its amazing.

I think the real identifying mark is Harry's scar. Besides the 'lightning bolt' shape, people in the Wizarding World don't scar unless they suffer/survive being hit with dangerous magic. Harry's mother sacrificing her life for Harry secured a protection on his life through his childhood, but it requires what is basically 'recharging' by living in his aunt's house for a part of the year. It actually keeps Harry AND the Dursleys safe from magical attack. The problem for the Dursleys is that they never asked for or agreed to this; Harry was kind of foisted upon them. And Vernon is old-school British middle-class; he's uncomfortable standing out for something weird, prefers to be conforming and 'normal'. Vernon did say he intended to put an end to this 'magic' nonsense. The Dursleys don't actually HATE Harry, they hate the embarrassing weirdness. They do resent being stuck with him, but it's not 'hate' as such. Some say they should be glad he goes off to boarding school instead of trying to stop Harry, but they know Harry's coming back and he'll be even weirder.

Quidditch is a fun game to play, but very exhausting. As I tell people, it is like a game of basket ball crossed with a game of dodgeball and with a game of tag being run through the middle. Every game I have seen form the World Champs has someone being stretchered off the field.
I was working the theater for the first movie's premiere, that was how I found out about HP. I vowed against it, then took a work break and saw Neville trying to fly, terrible. But then took another break and caught the chess match and big reveal.... I got hooked, anndd written up for taking too long a break. Then saw the last show that night, and then twice the next day...been hooked ever since. I have a channel devoted to reading HP (WRDreads), and am joining the up with Bibliobibuli to start Literary Luminaries for a deep dive into the books.
As you said, hermoine is the great of the groupe, that is just because the screen righter liked her so much and gave her task and sentences of the boys, in the book, they are more equally useful. Also why are in the beginning ron and neville seems bad at spells, both got the leftover wands of relatives(cause of diffrent reasons), and the not right wand, together with beeing a beginner is also not a good combination.
The funny thing, all the owls delivering the letters, the book mentions none...... 😂 Highly recommend getting to the audiobooks at least, once youre done. I have another channel devoted to HP, and starting a podcast with Bibliobibuli. We're a bit obsessed.......

In ancient times wolfsbane killed of the wolf population little by little. J.K. really knew her stuff. The books and movies are filled with knowledge. Most are just unfamiliar with the truth vs. fiction used. Its interesting if you look into it.
How does Dumbledore know everything that Harry et al get up to? There is a fan theory that he knows because he had experienced it already. That Ron and Dumbledore are the same person. However, this theory doesn't really track, as Dumbledore's past is well known. It would only track if Ron, in his old age traveled back and replaced the real Dumbledore, then used a spell or potion to look like Dumbledore, thus replacing him.
Harry´s aunt Petunia not really a mean by heart character. She acts this way towards him because back in the day she was very sad and jealous that her sister was magical and she wasn´t. So she dealt with her anger and frustration in declaring and telling herself that the wizarding world is a freakish, dangerous and most undesirable thing to be part of....when actually she was really hurt to not being able to attend Hogwarts herself 😮💨. She of course loved her sister deep inside - how could she not care for the only one she had left from her... und Harry recieved the full storm of her frustration because she knew that he must be a wizard too. She partly despises him for it and partly she wants to protect him from whatever killed her sister.
They dumbed down Ron's character so much in the movies. Some of his bright moments were passed to other characters. In books for instance, while in the devil's snare, it was Hermione who was panicking and not Ron. It was Ron's idea which freed her. They reduced him to comic relief to a large extent.
I must, as I do with everyone, give two corrections for this movie, as it makes two major mistakes that are different from the books, and they are important to understand. First, Quirrel never saw himself holding the stone. He wanted the stone for the elixir of life, so he saw himself holding the elixir of life. That's why he couldn't get the stone, and why only someone like Harry who wanted the stone but not to use it could get it, because only someone like that could actually see themselves holding the stone. Second, Harry was strangled until he passed-out, then Quirrel burned to ashes and died. Harry was not awake to see that happen. Harry did not only have that power in his hands, and he didn't actively kill Quirrel. This is very important to understand.
It's funny how there are always people wanting to treat "the books" as being the scripts for the movie, and label everything that's perceived as being different as "mistake" or "wrong". That's not how things work, though. If you've making a movie for a pre-existing franchise, you're still writing a separate new "book" for the movie, that just happens to take some things from the pre-existing works, adding new stuff, removing other stuff. For me, the movies worked just fine (as did Lord of the Rings, Arrowverse, MCU, Transformers, etc.). I had read the Lord of the Rings books a long time ago, several times, but the movies still worked just fine. For everything else, as far as I'm concerned, the books/comics are "wrong"...
@@Syndur The thing is, I'm not treating everything different as being a mistake or wrong. I'm pointing out two actual logical mistakes that the movie made. One that makes no sense within the movie itself, and one that makes no sense later on. These are direct logical mistakes in the story, not simple differences between the movie and the book with me holding the book as gospel. If you actually read and understood what I was saying in my comment, you'd be aware of that and wouldn't have wasted time with this response to me.
Just a suggestion..... perhaps you can place the vedio screen in the direction that you're looking to watch the movie....cause at up top it's so small and ain't clear
Fun fact: Harry, Ron, and Hermione have little to no impact on this movie. Without them, Quirrell (and Voldemort) wouldn't have been able to get the stone from the mirror anyway. Also, without the deductions the three were accumulating against their house, Gryffindor wouldn't have needed the points at the end to win the House Cup.
Fun fact: without Snape giving unfair points to Slytherin and taking unfair points from other houses Slytherin would not have been in the first place either.
I know editing takes time and is hassle, but, when i see a 39 minute reaction to a 2 hour film i feel sad as with an intro and outro you’re only giving 30 minutes to a 2 hour film ie massive parts cut out. I hope your future HP episodes are a bit longer so we can properly enjoy the reaction. 👍🏻

There are many many well known pop culture things that I don't watch or care about, but still know base things of it just by sheer brushes with it living life. That's where the term "living in a cave"means, because it suggests having zero influence, or outside experience with people, as things would have naturally rubbed off on you even by secondary association. Sometimes it just comes off as fake with YTbers, especially how every YTber seems oblivious to so much main stream pop culture stuff that even people who aren't into it know about.
The scary thing is. Is that rat is an old man that's been in Ron's room since this first year & you don't find this out till the 3rd movie. Prisoner of Azkaban make you think twice even tho they didn't intend it that way. I'ma dad and I would've wrung that rats neck. But this whole set of movie's are amazing. Quidditch is a fun game to play, but very exhausting. As I tell people, it is like a game of basket ball crossed with a game of dodgeball and with a game of tag being run through the middle. Every game I have seen form the World Champs has someone being stretchered off the field.
I was working the theater for the first movie's premiere, that was how I found out about HP. I vowed against it, then took a work break and saw Neville trying to fly, terrible. But then took another break and caught the chess match and big reveal.... I got hooked, anndd written up for taking too long a break. Then saw the last show that night, and then twice the next day...been hooked ever since.
I have a channel devoted to reading HP (WRDreads), and am joining the up with Bibliobibuli to start Literary Luminaries for a deep dive into the books.

As you said, hermoine is the great of the groupe, that is just because the screen righter liked her so much and gave her task and sentences of the boys, in the book, they are more equally useful.
Also why are in the beginning ron and neville seems bad at spells, both got the leftover wands of relatives(cause of diffrent reasons), and the not right wand, together with beeing a beginner is also not a good combination.

Sometimes I ask myself how is it possible that someone haven't seen these movies yet and then I remember that I haven't seen any of the avengers movies not even one Except for maybe guardians of the Galaxy volume one
As you watch them you'll soon realise Harry's cousin wasn't a bad person, he was trying to protect Harry from a world where he didn't fit in and gave him tough love

How does Dumbledore know everything that Harry et al get up to?
There is a fan theory that he knows because he had experienced it already. That Ron and Dumbledore are the same person.
However, this theory doesn't really track, as Dumbledore's past is well known.
It would only track if Ron, in his old age traveled back and replaced the real Dumbledore, then used a spell or potion to look like Dumbledore, thus replacing him.
I enjoyed your wonder on this one, just a tip: the books are much better, you'd better read them than just watching the films, cheers!

Harry´s aunt Petunia not really a mean by heart character. She acts this way towards him because back in the day she was very sad and jealous that her sister was magical and she wasn´t. So she dealt with her anger and frustration in declaring and telling herself that the wizarding world is a freakish, dangerous and most undesirable thing to be part of....when actually she was really hurt to not being able to attend Hogwarts herself 😮💨. She of course loved her sister deep inside - how could she not care for the only one she had left from her... und Harry recieved the full storm of her frustration because she knew that he must be a wizard too. She partly despises him for it and partly she wants to protect him from whatever killed her sister.

They dumbed down Ron's character so much in the movies. Some of his bright moments were passed to other characters. In books for instance, while in the devil's snare, it was Hermione who was panicking and not Ron. It was Ron's idea which freed her. They reduced him to comic relief to a large extent.

I must, as I do with everyone, give two corrections for this movie, as it makes two major mistakes that are different from the books, and they are important to understand.
First, Quirrel never saw himself holding the stone. He wanted the stone for the elixir of life, so he saw himself holding the elixir of life. That's why he couldn't get the stone, and why only someone like Harry who wanted the stone but not to use it could get it, because only someone like that could actually see themselves holding the stone.
Second, Harry was strangled until he passed-out, then Quirrel burned to ashes and died. Harry was not awake to see that happen. Harry did not only have that power in his hands, and he didn't actively kill Quirrel. This is very important to understand.
It's funny how there are always people wanting to treat "the books" as being the scripts for the movie, and label everything that's perceived as being different as "mistake" or "wrong".
That's not how things work, though. If you've making a movie for a pre-existing franchise, you're still writing a separate new "book" for the movie, that just happens to take some things from the pre-existing works, adding new stuff, removing other stuff.
For me, the movies worked just fine (as did Lord of the Rings, Arrowverse, MCU, Transformers, etc.). I had read the Lord of the Rings books a long time ago, several times, but the movies still worked just fine. For everything else, as far as I'm concerned, the books/comics are "wrong"...
@@Syndur The thing is, I'm not treating everything different as being a mistake or wrong. I'm pointing out two actual logical mistakes that the movie made. One that makes no sense within the movie itself, and one that makes no sense later on. These are direct logical mistakes in the story, not simple differences between the movie and the book with me holding the book as gospel. If you actually read and understood what I was saying in my comment, you'd be aware of that and wouldn't have wasted time with this response to me.

Fun fact: Harry, Ron, and Hermione have little to no impact on this movie. Without them, Quirrell (and Voldemort) wouldn't have been able to get the stone from the mirror anyway. Also, without the deductions the three were accumulating against their house, Gryffindor wouldn't have needed the points at the end to win the House Cup.
Fun fact: without Snape giving unfair points to Slytherin and taking unfair points from other houses Slytherin would not have been in the first place either.
That's an interesting observation. What these three do here does play an important role in the bigger picture though.

I know editing takes time and is hassle, but, when i see a 39 minute reaction to a 2 hour film i feel sad as with an intro and outro you’re only giving 30 minutes to a 2 hour film ie massive parts cut out. I hope your future HP episodes are a bit longer so we can properly enjoy the reaction. 👍🏻

There are many many well known pop culture things that I don't watch or care about, but still know base things of it just by sheer brushes with it living life.
That's where the term "living in a cave"means, because it suggests having zero influence, or outside experience with people, as things would have naturally rubbed off on you even by secondary association.
Sometimes it just comes off as fake with YTbers, especially how every YTber seems oblivious to so much main stream pop culture stuff that even people who aren't into it know about.
The scary thing is. Is that rat is an old man that's been in Ron's room since this first year & you don't find this out till the 3rd movie. Prisoner of Azkaban make you think twice even tho they didn't intend it that way. I'ma dad and I would've wrung that rats neck. But this whole set of movie's are amazing.
