I originally wasn't that much of a fan of Zizi as Mary Poppins at first but after watching a few more performances of her as Mary Poppins, she is amazing
We saw her as Mary recently, I can't tell you how much better she is than this one performance. Seriously, the talent she has is unbelievable. There's another number later in the show where she literally sings, dances (like this,) and then a solo tap dance. Honestly, just amazing!
No matter how many different productions go on around the world, there will never be a cast like this one. Zizi Strallen, Charlie Stemp, and the legend that is Petula Clark.
Such a fun and colourful production. I took my daughter and granddaughter, who dances, to see this when it first opened. You can’t help but have a permanent smile on your face watching this. Petula Clark brought a tear to my eyes. Glorious day in Trafalgar Square yesterday. I also want to say how well behaved we theatre lovers are, no trouble that I saw, only kindness.

I'm an expat Brit living in the US. On a recent visit home, my son surprised me by meeting me in Leicester Square, with tickets to see Mary Poppins the same evening! Its always been on my bucket list to see Petula sing live, so this was just one of the best evenings of my life. The show was stunning, loyal to the original film, but with new songs and new plot twists, absolutely fantastic.
Sat here with the biggest smile on my face. One of my most favourite musicals, been lucky enough to see it twice on tour. One day I'll see it in London!

The adults are great and it's a given. I'm amazed that the kids were able to match them at a young age. Saying their lines and choreography in front of an audience.

Does Dame Petula Clark only go on stage for The birds woman or does she play others Ensemble characters through the show ? She's so beautiful and Amazing 😍
I'm not sure about this production specifically, but I know the production my high school did several years ago had the Bird Woman doubled with Mrs. Andrews, and given that it's Disney, I think it's reasonable to assume that was Disney's idea & therefore the way all the productions are supposed to do it.

I LOVE theatre BUT I just have Julie Andrews in my head being so natural for Mary Poppins same with Sound of Music that when you see the technically trained over exaggeration of the pronunciations it can be a bit off putting.....(obvs from the crowd you wouldnt see this) jst when watching these vids. Argh, imagine seeing Julie Andrews play one of those roles in person 😳 i think id actually cry.
She really hasn't. I watched the show in London a few weeks ago and she was brilliant! I think being on the stage outside plays a part in poor sound. And she's probably shattered from doing every show!
Petula plays the part beautifully with meaning to every word..she has been acting for 75 years since her early childhood films and is singing in a lower register of course but still with her trademark inflections and magic

come back to watch this as my favourite show leaves the west end today :'( I hope one day they bring it back with the same cast, they're all so good and the joy this show brings me is just indescribable. I'm gutted I couldn't see the show once more before it left prince Edward theatre. I suppose at last, the wind has changed..

I saw Charlie Stemp a few years ago in half a sixpence and I said to my daughter he's the one to watch in the future. So far I haven't been wrong

Went to London to watch this a couple nights ago It was fantastic. The children are all so talented for there age as are the adults. Best night ever.
