Something Int3r didn't mention but I higly recommend - bind ability level ups to shift + cast button (i.e., shift +1, shift + 2 etc). Function keys for level up can be awkward.
I swear by instant cast over quick because when things get stressful I struggle to release buttons quickly so only requiring the down press is much more consistent. For keybinds I use Q E Lshift and space (putting relics on R and F) (this puts jump on N, pretty much only used for jump parties). I like auto walk on middle mouse click (clicking the scroll wheel) so you can move around 1 handed. One thing you didn't mention is having the ground targeter turned on I think it becomes more important to have it when you are playing on instant cast, that way you still have a way of lining up stuff like scylla crush on wave without the normal targeter. One of these days I would love to see every god have their ability targeters show on instant cast like you get with KA, but maybe Smite 2 will have that
I am also a huge fan of the ground ruler too and I will say as a supp main it helps you mostly determine if the enemy adc can hit you with abilities and basics because if you could hit them, they can hit you.
You can use the ruler to know if you are in range of a minion when it dies so you dont get zoned off from xp if you are getting bullied in solo
is the xp distance just max range of the ruler?

one thing I gotta say about casting is that with time you will feel which abilities should stay on normal casting and which on instant, take for example Cthu as you get more familiar with him, you will notice some abilities don't need to be manually triggered, I for example have 1,3,4 on instant because I'm accustomed to their range and the flicker needed, and the 2 on normal since I actually have to aim it, same for the ult abilities, and that small timing from normal/quick to instant casting could make the difference in a fight,
if you're new let me know if you want me to share any ability casting loadout on a specific god
btw one thing I'd like to see added is specific casting loadouts to stance switchers, eg Merlin, his 1 in Ice stance on normal, in fire stance on instant and arcane stance on normal,
right now you can't do that
I do that with kukukaln, he’s my main god and the 3 and 4 feel better on normal, especially the 3 it can be so awkward with quick cast and end up in the wrong spot. The ult just to get max range on objective steal and or secures the 1 for quick cast so you get that target for the split moment
I would recommend trying having the ground targeter turned on (a little dot that rides along the ruler). This lets me have pretty much everything on instant cast bc I can see where the center of it will be
Quick cast is just as fast if your actual inputs are fast you get every benefit from both instant and normal casting. It's legit just instant cast with the option of getting an aim targeter
I also think the option of "higlights" is an important option. it makes a red rectangular shape when a god or minion is in the range of a basic attack, i like it so you can se it clearly if i might hit something or not.
I have relics on Space and LShift. Biggest buttons and where my thumb and pinky naturally restso you are not hunting them in a fight. Beads on Spacebar is so nice when you get used to not trying to jump and wasting them. Highly recommend. (Jump is bound to Ctrl because it is still one of the most important binds in the game for trolling)
I tried unrestricted camera, but for Vulcan ult etc, I have to have my cam all the way down and can't see anything so I'm changing it back. Thanks for the tips though, moving map closer to center
Maybe its just a preference thing, but I have my relics on my mouses side buttons. Its useful since my thumb is always resting there.
I never knew I could unlock my camera man... Thx for the very useful tip since I found it annoying. The only thing that I also disabled is my health above my character. Since I have it on the bottom I don't need 2 health bars, the top one bothers me. I also from the start used thumb mouse buttons for my relics. And no I don't press them by accident, happens maybe once every couple of years 😂. Great video anyway, keep it up!
where do you see auto walk in the bind options? idk if im blind or what but i dont see it
I actually use my 2 side mouse buttons for my 1/2 abilities then e for my third with R for ult. I had issues aiming while moving because i was doing it originally all with one hand, now i split it up evenly and its much easier now that im used to it

The only 2 changes i have to key binds is relics on Q and E and changing potions from Z and C to X and C
Ive changed my UI and map on multiple occasions, but for SOME REASON!! it keeps resetting it after a few weeks or even a few days. Im not sure why this happens, but ive noticed it always does it on or around patches. I just play Default UI except changing the map opacity. I got sick of it.
When the new UI first dropped it made console lag and crash and would reset as you said, I've been using the default ever since not sure about PC
@@bloo5429 I don't know why it does it. For console I've heard it gets stuck alot. And things will stop working, And reset. PC I've not heard it happen alot. But it happens too often for me to care about my UI
Idk if it'll work but when it resets try to change to default then back to the new one
Do you spectate games? I find that when I either watch back a ranked game or I even spectate a friend's game it completely resets my HUD to default.

I use instant cast for every god and almost every ability, with a few exceptions switched to quick cast and I always start with quick cast on new gods until I learn the ability placements then switch to instant

I highly recommend binding relics to Mouse 4 and 5, much easier and faster to react (granted you have these buttons on your mouse)
I really hope for smite2 I can turn on savageplus for controllers I've gotten use to my abilities on triggers sooo much
i swear by instant cast for every god and every ability i first used it when i started getting into susano and ullr and just kept it going especially if you have ruler you can very quickly get a feel for your range/aoe on abilities even on isntant and not need the targetter i also use 1-2-shift-space for my abilities and the 2 thumb buttons on my mouse for relics for much the same reason as you use q-e-r-space my pinky is always resting on shift and my thumb on space and i use 1-2 because if i were to use q-e im sure i would accidentally hit them while trying to move around and the thumb buttons for relics so i can activate them quickly while still being able to move around and use whatever abilities i want with my keyboard
My casting buttons are Spacebar, Left Shift, C, and Left alt for 1,2,3,4 respectively. Relics are Q and E, consumables and F and R. Ive been told by many people that its cursed
How do you move the mini map though.
I personally really like having my second ability on right click. Since I never use it for anything else in game, I can have 3 of my abilities next to, without having to move my finger upwards. Especially as someone who was a really big fps/hero shooter player where right click was always used. When I didn't use it I felt like I was missing something.
Also I love quick cast, there are a few exceptions (some dash movement abilites, geb shield and charon 1 on instant, and 72 transformation, hou yi ricochet and all ultimates on normal) but it's nice to both aim and have the just let go when you see the opportunity.
right click is how you cancel a lot of abilities and dashes so it's not a good idea on some gods.
Or you are the best player alive or the worst one. No exceptions!

For console play savage plus especially if you play an auto attack god or a god with skill shots. You never have to take your thumb off the analog.
I've met so many ppl who hated the game until I told them abt camera pitch. Insane that's the default.
I have my binds set to Shift, CTRL, \, and SPACE for ult. only cast with my pinky the entire game
I put my relics on my mouse side buttons :)
I really like games where you can customize your settings, I'm a 90's kid so having options is really nice. I'm on console and actually had a huge problem trying to customize the HUD at the start of this year. Anyone know if that was fixed? I haven't thought about try to try again, it would be nice to able to set the HUD how I like. I personally can't do Instant Cast. I tend to play a wide variety of gods and find it extremely difficult to keep track of how my abilities are shaped. I had a rough time getting King Arthur to diamond because he is only Instant Cast and it was difficult for me to hit some of his extended reach abilities like his 2 or Ult, it is really annoying not having a targeter to make sure you'll actually hit someone. I've been wanting to use Quick Cast but I'm too comfortable with Normal Cast, I'm also very casual so its not really that important to me.
I feel you on instant. Even with my 4k+ hours on smite I still like to be able to see my targeters and aim. Would highly recommend quick cast if you can get past the growing pains though!

Try to change your abilities to zxcv instead of qer-space. As you said, its easier to keep your fingers at wasd and use abilities.
That sounds good but you would mess up one of the key features in smite … the VGS system

The Adapting keybindings are simply better.
Similar to your thumb always resting on the Spacebar, your pinky is always on Left Shift. So 1: Left Shift, 2: Q, 3: E and 4: Space. Then you can use R instead of G for a relic.
for me, most comfortable abilities binds are zxcv, so your thumb is dedicaded to all of them
Idk my man my pinky is close to the caps lock. 1-2-3-4 with wasd is pretty alright imo, relics to the E and F then you are golden

You should make the open shop secondary button middle mouse click it will change your life.
Colorblind mode + making the game a bit darker help a bit with those annoying skin's skills where you cant see anything (like kuku t5 or hel t5)
You have got to have that god icon right in the middle of everything for when you are too high to remember what god your playing.
How do you Turn off SHORTCUTS on PC Num Lock pad, it's so fcking stuped when you try to type like "1994" and then you get Redirected to the main menu or the store....

Vote to change cursed UI still stands :) it's more about skill/actives location than map
instant cast is actually a lot faster than quick. instant is when your keyboard registers you pressed the key, quick is when your keyboard registers as the key retracts to the actuation point again, if you either have a slower keyboard or a bad habit of holding a key for milliseconds too long, its that much slower than instant cast.
No it's not lol, if you quickly press the keys you cast exactly as fast with quick cast *and* you have more precision
Instant cast is a noob trap, it's just bad.
If you seriously think the 0.003 second difference in activation between the two is what's killing you killed: you're coping *hard* somewhere down the line
@@teejay1646 the average keyboard latency is 3 to 20 ms, i used to play fortnite on a 130 dollar keyboard with a 6ms response time and then i switched to a corsair platinum k100 at 1.3 ms latency, the difference is literally incalculable. I went from being the most mid, average, dookie player to playing and placing good in cash cups shortly after upgrading my keyboard.
Please - PLEASE do research before trying to say someone is wrong. The difference in instant and quick cast is very big, even if you instantly retract your finger.

@@teejay1646 its a 20ms delay every ability, I use instant cast so there's no cope since I'm not the one at a deficit. get educated on the things you want to argue about and come back

Why is higher sensitivity generally better? What I've heard from other Streamers/RUclipsrs is the opposite, lower sensitivity is better. (5:53 Timestamp)
Allows more quick 'snap' movements for aiming and juking. Medusa ult is the most obvious example but there are many.
Don't listen to anyone. Find your own sensitivity where you can perform well. I used different sensitivity but when I found my perfect one(high mouse dpi + like 9 ig sensitivity) I started aiming much better even with hunters

Instant cast is bad and the people who use it are actively gimping their aim for the illusion of faster casting, a quick button press is exactly as quick as instant casting
Y'all are like one of those ridiculously high sens players who think being able to do a full 360 with an inch of movement is practical, it doesn't matter how quickly you can turn if you miss everything anyways

I have always felt changing casting modes is cheating and the option should not exist. If a God ability requires Instant Cast, than the ability should be set to do that by Hi-Rez.

I get what u mean, but they literally would not care about what u do with the god, so casting modes are simply for your own comfort and hopefully your own improvement
Personally not a fan of 'instant' cast but even then I do use it for abilities with 2 or more phases so I can do the 'auto-cancels' which gives quite a lot of damage burst (like Susano, Nemesis, Achilles and Lancelot)
