      I’d say a better bet would be if this item worked how similar self revive effects work in HotS. You revive at base (usually for a cost). But even if this item didn’t have a cost, it still has the issues of the long cooldown, taking up a starter slot, and taking you out of the current team fight even if only for a short time. A revive effect can be very strong in Smite as Khepri has demonstrated, but not if it leaves you in very immediate danger often without retaliation if the enemy has the capability to time their abilities to your revive

The match that made me hate them with a passion was one where our jungler bought lono's mask. They got mad at being unable to kill Poseidon, they were Serqet, and yelled at us for not helping him and left at a 1-11. Only kill they got was a early ult because poseidon got beads instead of aegis.

  • @Mujtabaa_M
    @Mujtabaa_M Год назад +8

    Only half way through the video but I do want to say that I *highly* disagree with the Jotunn's glyphs. In fact, I may say that Cunning is actually the noob trap item. Not sure if it changed, but Cunning's effect works off of an ability's reduced cooldown rather than it's base cooldown. Basically, the more CDR you have the, worse this effect becomes.
    I.e. - An ability with a base 12s cooldown (0% cdr) would theoretically get 4s off from the Cunning's passive proc
    With 40% CDR, that ability is now 7.2s cooldown and Cunning gives only 1.8s off from its passive.
    Essentially, at 40% CDR, Cunning is actually 15% of the next damaging cooldown instantly (Every 3rd damaging ability). Pair this with the fact that Jotunns has 20% CDR by itself means that you never ever ever ever get the 25% from Cunning; that's where the noob trap comes in because no one realizes it without a closer look.
    On the other hand, as we all know, the 2 most broken stats in smite is movement speed and mitigations and 10% movement speed on Vigor is nothing to sneeze at considering it's more ms than the base stat on items with it. Not the best glyph in the game by any means but I would take some lifesteal and ms over a (pretty random) 15% cdr conditional for 600g.
    I certainly wouldn't buy Cunning over a red pot.

      More cooldown is still more cooldown. Just because the effect is diminishing means nothing. That's like saying don't build exe and titans. Because exe makes titan have less pen. So what? Exe titans is more pen than either individually. Diminishing returns doesn't devalue an item. You also aren't buying glyth over a red pot. You buy both. Idiotic take there.

I still appreciate your take in those videos though - always ASAP and despite reading most of them word for word, somehow manage to make it both interesting AND insightful.
    That said these kinds of videos show that not only are you up to date with all of the meta and such as most creators are, but you actually possess a genuine understanding of the community across ALL levels and videos like this are a great example of that. It's this understanding and the resulting ability to really tailor your videos to suit the kinds of things the community can really use and will really help them which makes you IMHO the beat smite content creator on RUclips - to the point where I ac4uallt unsubbed other creators I was following because I donr need them anymore and just follow you for all my Smiting needs. One thing to consider is Diminishing Returns. If you poke them without doing much damage, they'll get a stack of DR, meaning when you engage fully they will actually be hard CC'd for less.
      Abilities like Cabrakans Tremble are a good example of where it does work though, because DR does not apply to Trembles.
      However if it was a Cthulhu, an enemy could just touch the edge of his pool which also applies a slow and walk away with 2 DR stacks, which is effectively 40% CCR for the next 15 seconds.

    I do agree that most of these magical items aren't good on most Mages, there are some that really do make good use of them but that is something to learn. Gem of Isolation is better on a Guardian one like Artio where she wants to get up close and stay on people while having the tools already in her kit to make that happen, this just pushes a little bit further. It does need buffs to make it better but it isn't horrible if you know how to use it. I do like Alternative Timeline over the other one but I play Arena where you basically get only one use of it and it don't go over the CDR cap with my usual build, which I would if I built the other one. I do agree it is mixed bag and not probably worth building in Conquest. It hasn't saved me as often as I would like but it has saved me a few times as well as saved other teammates who had to stay to focus me instead of going after them, won a few games where the Timeline gave a few extra seconds for us to clean up.
    Maybe doing a split for Physical, Magical, and Defensive 'Noob' trap items would have been a little more informative since this list is basically 'items you really shouldn't be building on Mages'.

    So I've played the game since it came out some things I can agree to disagree but alot of this is quite right, however gem of isolation I will be honest it isn't idea for many mages if not most but I've found it idea to use on hera, Poseidon, and Anubis and a few others, for Bancroft's talon specifically the attack speed glyph it's great on Freya, chronos and Poseidon, you get some sustain but you can also get the attack speed and power needed especially if your not the greatest at building specific characters, jotuns vigor I don't have much to say on and I only really use on tyr, Fenrir and Lancelot it's a great item but it's used for all the wrong reasons amongst the noobs, then there is the resurrection it's great for team fights and it's only if you have someone to protect you but other than that it's not great, I can say that there have been many times where all alts were aimed at me when having this item, so people can and will tend to save alts until you resurrect, and sphinx bauble I don't use anymore apart from on The Morgan

    • @Inters3ct

      I think Pendant is a bit overbought but it's actually a solid item. Main reason it doesn't get built right now is because Pendulum is the go-to starter and gives 20% itself so it messes with your CDR options to get Pendant and you run into overcapping issues.

Have still only lost single digit games with kumba and Athena thanks to bobble. They deal no dmg anyways and because of their high CDRS it’s best to apply CC and loop out of the fight so the 50% on them allows you to setup dmg non stop and not to mention the pressure it puts on enemy

  • @calebowens693
    @calebowens693 Год назад

    Gem of isolation was decent on DoT mages. With the internal cooldown being added, it probably won't be something I get on any character.
    Jotunn's cunning is such a useful glyph, that I can hardly believe how often I see people buy jotunn's vigor instead.
    Bancroft's talon I think can be good, but only situationally. When the claw glyph was first introduced it was very strong, but it was nerfed to the point of near-uselessness. Tankier mages, like Hades or Zhong Kui, seem to make better use of it than most others do.
    Alternate timeline... yeah, I can't think of anything to say to defend it without blatantly lying. It's one of the biggest baits in the game. Admittedly, I enjoy killing a player right after it revives them more than I should. There's just something magical about that.
    Sphinx's baubles might occasionally have some use. The only thing which comes to mind is with Nu Wa, for more frequent ults. Still, most of the "item proc damage" build is getting nerfed soon, so it probably won't even be good for that soon. Before it switched from reducing damage to reducing protections, it was good for tanks to let them spam cc more. Maybe a good Janus player could make worthwhile use of it, but I certainly couldn't.
    My personal nomination for this list is only for a first item on a tank: stone of gaia. I see lots of tanks who choose gaia over prophetic cloak, gauntlet of Thebes, sovereignty, heartward amulet, or other supportive auras. I would agree that it helps their personal survivability, but that the opportunity cost is prohibitively high. Now, that's just as a first item. If a tank has a stacked Thebes, an emperor's armor, and shogun's kusari; then would be the time to pick up stone of gaia.

    The top 1 for me is Fail-not
    The passive reading makes sounds funny, but by far it is really awkward in its usage
    It's a hunter's only item, that gives you some mixed stats that actually doesn't work well for both types of hunters: Skill based and Auto based
    The skill one wants to have more pen and cdr, yes, however, crit isn't a thing, and even if so, only 20% is simply not enough, and depending on your ultimate to have an extra 20% is not worth... if you want CDR + Pen for your skill based hunter, simply go for Jotunn's + Hydras, for auto reset, or maybe Jotunn's + Soul Eater, for lifesteal, or simply Transcendence and Jotunn's, which is way more common and useful
    If you're an auto-based hunter, and you're building crit chance, you definitely don't have CDR and don't want to depend on your ultimate to get some kills, you want to use your basics... and there are some better items to it
    Btw it's not even close to showing how bad this item is: After you ult (which is not good to depend on), you and your allies have a +20% crit chance, like, if you want to have a good usage, you must be in a call and tell everyone you're about to ult and even so, they must be using a god with powerful basics... but there's more: it's not +20% crit chance for you and everybody, simple and easy, no, no, no.... it marks a specific god and you and your allies have 20% extra chance against that specific god... I mean, if your allie is a mage or an assassin, he definitely doesn't need a 20% crit chance (which is low) to kill a squishy god (if he even uses any basic instead of a skill combo w/no basics in between), and if your allie is a tank, even with 20% crit chance against a squishy (again, which is low), the damage probably won't be that high, it's not his function to build basic damage.. and if the enemy is not a squishy, then crit is not the thing, %pen and dmg by %hp is. In any case, is simply not worth...
    Fail-not is so specific that makes it useless... I guess this could be barely useful in gods like Artemis or Cupid, with low CDs and high CC ult, however, still would be better to use any other item instead this one

  • @xubious
    @xubious Год назад

    • @withered6770

      No it doesn't. Dominance's passive only applies the 20% pen on basic/auto attacks, where as titans bane applies a universal 20% pen with a 20% extra on abilities as it's passive. Essentially, for ability-based characters go titans bane, for basic/auto-attackers go dominance. As an extra tip for item building, keep in mind when you need to hit the %penetration cap as most of the time, core items such as Heartseeker, Crusher, hydras already give u 30%- meaning serrated is a good option for hitting cap. In another example if u don't go Crusher, titans bane would be solid because 20%-from hydras, Heartseeker+20%-from titans bane. Regarding hunters u can pretty much go exe, dominance and be ok on pen.
