Can you take a 6-8 track mix where you have the original tracks and test the split against the original tracks? (If you haven’t already) I’d love to hear how the original drums or vocals sound vs the splitters. That’s the A/B I’d love to hear. PS, thanks for the solo AB tip!
You should do a comparison between Stem Splitter (Logic Pro) and RipX DAW AI. The advantage of RipX is that it gives you more instruments but how pure they are would need a review comparison by you my friend 😉
Stem Splitter is a no-brainer for existing LP silicon owners. Like you, I was most taken with the bass separation but even drums can then be dragged easily into Sampler/DMD etc to use further. Very useful tool IMO.
Apple’s stem splitter will likely release better algorithms and more stems in future dot upgrades. This is typical for Apple: get in a little late with a solid first attempt, and refine soon with a major update. They did the same with Flex Pitch, sampler instruments, etc.
I'd like to see what happens if you get the best rip of each instrument (using whatever tool, or combination of tools, work best), and then re-combining them into a full mix to see what happens. (I suspect a bunch of phasiness.) When using just one tool, we know that no information is lost when splitting. But what happens with mixing / matching tools.
I prefer SpectraLayers Pro. Being able to Split 6 Stems instead of 4 (Vocals, Bass, Guitar, Drums, Piano, Other) is too useful. Also, the whole "Sensitivity" knob just tells me that RX is basically using EQ Curves to filter around known instrument ranges and the Sensitivity basically adjusts the Q of those curves, which is why it starts bringing in other instruments. It's not very AI. They just used AI to go through tons of tracks/stems and see where common instruments sit in mixes. It's using a model installed with the software, not really doing anything on the fly. I think this is why it takes longer than the others (and Apple's is the fastest).
I wonder exactly the same as j0pj0p. All those stem spitters tools do quite the same in terms of splitting: voice-bass-drums-others. In your example, the voice part contains the lead one and the back singers. How could you remix both of them if you cannot separate them? I am dreaming of a stem splitter which could show you the score of the ninth symphony of Beethoven. Please, wake me up as soon as it exists.

Actually my Mac outdated so it will cost less from getting a new cps
I punched RipX for stem separation about 6 months ago. I haven't compared it to Logic yet.

Always a great presentation Josh.... Great explanations & A pleasure always to watch & Learn.... Thank you !!!
Spectralayers is Stem Split king. Highly recommend as Audio Restauration Tool too.

yes! Spectralayers is THE weapon for Stem Splitting and Audio Restauration tasks too.
You should check out RIP-X DAW. It’s leagues better than both imo. It’s incredible.
RX 11 costs more than Logic Pro itself. If you need it only for stem splitting it will be better invest the money in a new Mac with Apple Silicon. 🤔
lol what?
so glad we paid 50k for that 7,1 . just 3 years ago.. not
Why are both limited to just four stems?
How much memory are you running on your computer?
Hello, excellent video, I would love to see a comparison of these two processes with the Moisés app
I would try Moises too

Could you do this vs spectralayers?
make screen recording bigger and you smaller plz
So many artifacts, dropped bits and micros. Honestly.
for which one? Logic's stem splitter or Izotope RX-11?
@@yadude101 both … and every other similar tech I have tried.
Apart from the Vocals, both stems are absolutely horrendous in both
RX 11 vs RipX DAW
i am good with stem splitter, rx is way too expensive anyways
many artefacts in Logic, I must say. Don´t like.
