Watching the video back, at 26:00, the guardian can probably be killed quite easily without the shuriken, if you time your crouched attacks so that you're ducking while his club is down. I didn't realise before that you could avoid taking damage that way.
Tip: Instead of using the potion that shrinks your size at 46:00 in the video, save it for the final boss… You’ll use it to dodge under the lightning attacks and regain your normal size behind him. He hasn’t been programmed to turn around… Just keep hitting him continuously to defeat him. Targhan was one of my favorite game in CGA on PC. And the box only serves to weigh you down....
@@CopperPlaysRetro lmao my bad. in europe we had a total of 4 barbarian games. the 2 from psygnosis, and then we also had barbarian : ultimate warrior (deathsword in u.s.) and barbarian II the dungeon of drax (axe of rage in u.s.) from palace software. so we had 2 Barbarian and 2 Barbarian II. :P
Wow, Targhan was really lucky to go on this trip to those ornate, serpent-decorated rooms. Jealous... And it seems he did not skip any leg days, judging from the end screen.
The idea of dwarfes living high above the ground in the trees is blasphemy against J.R.R.Tolkien. Maybe somebody mixed a little 1983 Ewoks / Return of the Jedi into it? The "barbarian with a sword / D&D" fantasy genre did last surprising long: With a new generation of hardware and video game consoles, games like Legend or Battle Blaze etc were published up to the mid 1990s, and of course there were TV series like Hercules and Xena.

Beautiful pixel art. It's all about setting the mood. Need a potion to cure the nostalgia.
The art in this game is real nice. As a kid, I would have loved to get my hands on this game.
Yep. I was confined to a Spectrum so something like this would have blown me away.

@@david55200 I had no idea you could do that! I’ll have to try it out, cheers!
@@CopperPlaysRetro i think no one know :D! i do this when i was young :)
I like how the disc on the loading screen looks like pirate copy instead of an official disk. :)
someone needs to do a documentary as to WHY we had 3 different Barbarian II games.
Loved all 3 of them.
@@Toshiro_Mifune which is the third game? I’ve never managed to complete Barbarian II!

Tree dwarfs... well that's something new for sure
Great playthrough, you made the game look far less clunky than it is :D
Have you ever played the Excalibur series or Conan on the Amiga ?
Cheers! Beautiful game, awkward controls!
Not my kind of game but it was fun watching you give it a play-through.
Thank you
Art is groovy. Gameplay and sound are bloody bollocks. 🤮☠️🤮
