I must say Miss WORLD contests in the 70s and 80s were the best, despite what people have to say, but it was a show of elegance, I liked the national costumes, the sashes, the evening dresses , the final was magnifique so nervously spectacular and emotional, I liked the crowns they used, unfortunaly today the contest has lost its charme, it is now simple, more complex and comfusing it is more like a big brother programe it does not have that beauty queen recipe anymore.

It is rather odd that we get such high quality recordings of MW while the ones for MU the same years are fuzzy and often incomplete. A case in point is MU 1971, we see Georgina Rizk at MW at high quality like it was just filmed recently. What we have of her at MU was nearly unwatchable.

La reins iba a ser mejico..pero su pesima respuesta le costo el titulo..el presentador pteguntaba con humor y broma .. I always wondered why they didn't stay in their gowns for the crowning and not the swimsuit ??? They did change it in the future but just wondering.... OMG poor girl they ran to her in the end 0_0 hope she was taken out of there asap
Wow Sasha Distel was a handsome & charming guy. Apparently he passed away in 2004. So sad. I’m glad they now crown the girls while in evening gowns and not in swimsuit.
