    We are spoiled people. We should all be prepared for a day without power.
    We are screwed if power goes out for long. People will be dangerous.

    I find it rather interesting and so strange that here in Kona and lots of other places inter islands ... the huge push to install Smart Meters has been happening ... yet the electrical grids that feed them all are dying. Yet no one is questioning it.

    Affordable petrol-based backup generators can be purchased in many places in the state of HI at Costco, Home Depot, Lowes to garage sales, online market posts etc. Solar generators can be adapted to run off wind as well as solar panels and are available at Costco and Home Depot but they are expensive. Take responsibility

    heco should be libel for any loss customers have during an extended power outage. All those in that community should look into filing a suit to recover losses.
    heco expects everyone to pay on time, we should expect to have service on time.

      Even when you go on vacation or minimal used electricity, you get the same bill, sometimes even higher than normal, next time I go off grid , pole broke ,lines down, i like go 100% solar power and independent, pass my house and take off the grid forever!

    Thats what happens when they depend heavily on wind and solar
    And they got rid of coal tore the plant down and now HECO burns oil cahrge us a hefty bill and lack the repairs on our aging power grid

    • @gregh7457
      @gregh7457 2 дня назад

      that sounds like something they'de do in calif. they're shutting down oil refineries and building out AI data centers and charging electric cars with no plans to increase capacity. Thats what happens when we let eco nuts run our energy policy

    • @808lublabs4
      @808lublabs4 2 дня назад

      Report said the outage was caused by an arc flash which could happen regardless of the dependency on solar, wind, cables being underground or overhead. Typically an arc flash is caused by damage to the cables either through wear and tear or it being physically damaged by a foreign object.

      Thank you, was looking for this comment. Even at 10 hours without power, your food will still stay good unless you were opening the fridge constantly. It also takes at least a few hours over 50 degrees for most food to even start to go bad.

      @@joephillips7612 heco runs the power generation on the military bases. but the military built combustion turbines and built ways to isolate themselves from the rest of the states grid. so if there is an island wide black out they disconnect from the state and heco run massive diesel generators to power the base. no blaCK out those generators add power to the states grid all ran by heco still
