Nah, near end of my last school year I thought about social benefits of a straight back and started to keep it straight nonstop until it just turned into a habit. Been difficult to keep doing it at first, now at 26 it's pretty much my normal stance. I'd argue it had multiple positive influences on my life these past years.
Those posture braces get a lot of crap, but they are one of the only things that actually gets my neck and trap muscles to relax for a while. Underrated imo
@@Dagotur every doctor criticizes these straps, that's the whole point, genius. Unless it's injury or rehabilitation (meaning emporary), they shouldn't be used. Also, go research. You don't need to be a doctor to read a scientific paper.
I didn't use to be able to even get that tall posture. I was so tight and weak that wheb after some time of practicing and training I thought I did it, I was still only halfway there. Which shocked and amused me when I checked if I really was actually upright. Now I have more strength and mobility and open upperback, but I still often find myself in slightly bent posture if not standing/walking. Which is a hilarious experience because now I can smoothly move back and forth without much effort and get confused how I felt so neutrally balanced before I noticed and tried straightening the back. Btw a mega pro tip for people who struggle with bending forwards in a chair: take your curled legs from the legs of the chair and plant the whole feet on the ground in front of you. They are surprisingly your upper body's balance weight so if you keep them curled under you, you end up leaning. I know having them solidly on the ground is exhausting and feels weird if you're used to sitting a lot and are somewhat weak, but it gets better. The desire to straighten them and lift them up on some object is another way the body/brain tries to avoid that exhausting new stressor and makes you tuck your pelvis and put all the pressure on the lower back, leaning back.
I mean this comfortable brace is well and good but problem is it'll make you too dependent on it and not correct way to fix posture as it's not strengthening the stabilising posture muscles back core tva obliques
Sure but have you tried fixing posture when it's already completely stuffed? It is astonishingly difficult. With these at least you can feel proper positioning and use it at the gym so you're not just increasing existing imbalances while working out.
@@GeneralDingo it looks comfortable but would eventually loose its shape like my old labouring lifting harness did. They do look good to get body in habit of good posture but it allone won't fix it is what I'm saying they need to be training correctly

Love that you point out the importance of moving. Many people think they can slap on these posture correctors, sit and watch TV and everything will fix itself. That is so wrong. No matter how you sit, stand or lay down, beeing in one position over a long time is not good.
Thank you so much for talking about not staying in the same position for too long. There is no perfect posture. It's all about balance and trying to equalize the load on your joints and tissues as much as possible. Also, this isn't a popular take, but weight plays a huge role. Too much weight will hurt your joints and tissues and internal organs and everything. It's impossible to attain perfection. But it's possible to strive for it!
O ideal é fortalecer os músculos e ajustar a postura naturalmente, usar esses aparelhos deixará a musculatura fraca com o tempo e vai ter que correr atrás e arrumar esse problema depois.
Honestly I can see these being great as a temporary measure to bring good posture into awareness and give breaks to strained muscles. Obviously the ideal situation is to train your muscles to be able to easily take this posture by themselves, but sometimes people need help! When I was a teenager I had horrible posture, then one day when I was around fifteen I developed a benign tumor in the skin between my shoulder blades. After it was removed, I couldn’t slump forward AT ALL without pulling at the stitches, and I felt like I was splitting my back open every time I slouched too far, because that’s essentially what I was doing, with only the stitches holding me together. Ofc I healed eventually, and I don’t have pain anymore but for those few months I had it ROUGH. And guess what? I was capable of FANSTIC posture from then on, and still am to this day!😁😁😁😁 Nothing like a little incentive! Maybe this brace can be for people like how my tumor removal surgery was for me! Except, Y’know, not nearly as painful.
Weaken muscles, lead to worse thoracic extension and increase stress on the lumbar spine, they're really just great for completely fucking yourself up even more. I've never seen a client improve by wearing these, but I've gotten heaps of clients as a result of them wearing these.
My posture has been garbage all my life. Not deliberately or consciously, I think it's because I feel self conscious about my height, (I'm 6'8), so I've always unconsciously stood and walked hunched and stooped over. The result has been terrible lower back pain.
Probably the most important part is what he said at the beginning. All postures produce stress. So having "bad posture" isn't exactly bad for you, but it becomes bad if you are in that position too much.
Love the content!! Could you make a video with recommendations for good exercises to increase ab strength? I am trying to achieve rope climbs and toes to bar, but I believe my low ab strength might be the problem.
These posture correctors are counter productive. The reason a bad posture gets developed is the result of a compensation pattern. The backpack is a perfect example of something that causes your body to compensate for the weight distribution on your body and thus encouraging rounding of the shoulders and upper back. If you want to wear something to correct your posture, loop a short band around your arms and behind your shoulders so that it's stretching across your chest. This will create a compensation pattern encouraging your body to retract your scapulars and extend your thoracic spine. Conversely, you can wear a backpack on the front but this causes you to elevate the shoulders which isn't great for the traps and neck.
So what im hearing is that my inability to sit still is already the perfect posture that i stress about achieving while im moving around so much. Thats wild
Constant us of these can decrease the muscles in the back, hence why it’s used to figure out what it should feel like with straight posture and then go in and strengthen those muscles to be able to hold a straight back without a brace
One very imortant thing you forgot to mention! These posture correctors can be helpful, but you shouldnt use them all the time. Yes your back will be straight while you wear it, but the fact that you have a device holding your back and shoulders in place, means that your muscles normally responsible for this will weaken. If you wear this every day for a while, you will have trouble holding up your back straight without it.
When I'm working on my computer or playing video games, I tend to stand because it makes you move around more. I got a sit-stand desk and it's the best investment I ever made.
I have never heard anyone confirm that it is good to be changing my posture when I am sitting like that before. I do that all the time. It feels great to move and change the load on my body.
Yeah! Healthy daily posture isn't singular, thats what I thought with the only thing wrong with any posture at all is that the stiffness you make is caused by not moving!
School councelors have an obligation to report anything if they feel like anything you're saying could implicate that you are having dangerous thoughts, symptoms of a mental issue, if you're in a bad living situation because you are a minor and under that schools care. If anything were to go wrong and it was found out that the school counselor didn't report those stuff that could be seen as dangerous, bad, but knew about it. Then that whole school could be sued and thet councelor would loose his/her job and lisence. It's not that they want to violate that trust, but it is an obligation. I knew this when I was minor, and I even went to a few therapists cause of trauma I had in my life growing up. I never told my therapist anything I wouldn't feel comfortable telling my mother because I knew my morher would get told everything I told that therapist because I was a minor and my mother had a right to know.
