I am very late in this comment, but still wanted to share my thoughts. Such a wonderful guitarist. I am his fan from India and have watched all his videos on you tube. He style and technique was excellent and loved him play with The Ventures. He used to freak out in the song " house of raising sun". RIP Gerry McGee.
Sad loss.....truly one of the greatest guitarplayers EVER...I just love his style and have listened (and will be listening) for 1000's of hours to his recording with the Ventures. He wrote some nice tunes too...one of his last "Santa Cruz" with the Ventures is one of my alltime favorites . R.I.P. Gerry thanks for everything you gave us !
He went out doing what he loved and was so good at doing.
Really sorry to hear about his passing. My sincere condolences to you, Norm, to his family and friends from all over the world of music. And, if I hope, if there is a paradise exists, imagine the hell ROCK band waiting for us in heaven. RIP Gerry McGee.
Being a very close friend of Gerry's for the past 7 years here in Louisiana, he gifted me a 57 Reissue Strat last year by surprize! Something that will be cherished the rest of my life but most of all, it still won't be as cherished as the great friendship that I had with him! His passing hits hard.

What a shock! Just heard if this now and such a huge loss, not just his amazing playing but his wonderful personality. In the past I have met Don, Nokie and Mel but unfortunately never ever got to meet Gerry and Bob. Only Don is now left from all of the original members. So sad!! So sad!!
So sad, was my guitar hero since I was a teenager. Only one more original Venture left, Don Wilson.

Thanks for the video Norm! I got to know Gerry over the past fer years here in Louisiana. I did some guitar deals with him too. He always had great story's and a learned a good bit from him as well. He always had kind words when mentioning you. We will all miss him, but at least he went out doing what he loved in front of his biggest fans.
