As you know, lighting is extremely important when it comes to shooting video. And the GVM 1000D LED light kit comes with all the accessories you'll need for a 2-point lighting setup. The GVM lights have an aluminum bracket but there's lots of plastic used the light itself including the barn doors. But I've found this to be typical of lights in the $200 to $300 price range. Everything in this kit fits into the carrying case so you can pack it with you easily.
This light kit comes with 2 RGB light panels and two light stands. It also comes with 2 softboxes with diffusion and an egg crate insert. Everything has it's own protective bag except for the power adapters. The lights themselves come with plastic barn doors which may not be the highest quality but they'll do the job. The adjustment knobs are also plastic but have a good feel to them.
There are 736 LEDs in the front panel with 45 watt output. Color temperature can be adjusted from 3200K to 5600K. And in addition to being able to adapt to indoor and outdoor light, this is also an RGB LED panel so you can add color to your setups! I really like the fact that GVM included softboxes in this kit. They do need some assembly but it's super easy with all the Velcro tabs.
Now it looks like the softbox would fit right on the light no problem, but the Velcro straps just aren't long enough to go behind the light and reach the Velcro on the edge of the softbox. That's when I realized that the barn doors added too much depth to the light. So I decided to remove them and try it again. But when it's attached, it's actually on there pretty securely.
The GVM 1000D works on AC power and you can make all the typical adjustments on the back. The knob on the right has a few more functions and can access other settings. There are also some buttons are there for additional adjustments. However, the GVM 1000D can run on battery power also which is what I prefer. The one thing that would've made this light kit even better is if GVM would've included four rechargeable batteries. To be clear, there are no batteries included in this kit.
So let's see what this looks like when it's powered on! GVM's specs say they use spotlight LEDs. I'm not completely sure what those are but they are really bright. And the default setting allows full temperature control on the fly. In addition to the rear panel, these lights can be also be controlled from a smartphone. To connect your Android or iOS device, scan the QR code on the back to download the GVM app. Then using the mode button on the back, set the light panel to app control. And now every function of the LED light can be controlled from an iPhone or Android.
This remote control is really convenient and you can even power the light on or off from a mobile device. But most of the time, I just like using the physical knobs and buttons on the back. I don't know... there's still something about doing things the analog way that I enjoy.
With everything GVM gives you, it allows a lot of control over lighting situations. Now two lights may not be enough depending on how large of an area you're shooting in. And you may need to add some specialized lights for other situations. But for a base light kit I think this is excellent. If this is your first light kit, I can tell you it includes everything you need to get started.

Informative and nicely done. The tone when discussing the softbox velcro straps was nicely balanced. You are very talented at video production. I hope you get a lot of opportunity.
My GVM 1000D 3-light kit arrived today and I found your video as a Quick Start tutorial. Appreciate the tips about the Velcro short straps (wow, they cut every corner for profit they can, right?!). I will probably remove the barn doors as you did or maybe try these I saw in another video: Kamerar Model DF-1L D-Fuse Large LED Light Panel Softbox: 12"x12" Rear Opening, Foldable Portable Light Diffuser, Carrying Bag, Strap Attachment, $39.99, Amazon ASIN B01H7A5NPM. Good tip also on the right-knob presses for additional settings. Thank you.
