Like example the estate law, it is in his GBP services but it is not on the website. There are no contents about estate law? Hi Mark. I am assuming it wasn't added by the business owner but Google instead. This would mean Google associates this business with "estate law". If your client provides this service then create matching content on the site, if not why leave it in there if it's not a service they offer?

Hi Tom. First, please ensure that your company's address qualifies for a Business Profile by reading the Guidelines. If the video verification is the only option given to you there is no other alternative. If it's a real problem for you, you might want to try this. Contact Google Business Profile support for help using this form: support.google.com/business/gethelp. Explain to them that you don’t have the technology to do video verification and ask if you can do postcard verification instead.

@@rankingacademy I have a similar issue. The business operates virtually and locally. When going through the verification process it didn't give an option for the postcard. Instead, it asked to create the video-- which is hard to do since I don't have a store front. The listing was setup without a storefront location so I don't know why its asking me to create a video. When I select "try a different verification option" it bumps me back to the home page of the Google Business Profile. Any advice?

I would go for the WordPress option. The free google website is too limiting. With wordpress you can build multiple pages and do a lot more SEO customisation.

I am at a complete loss. My content has bodies in for my massage profile, and alpacas in for my alpaca business profile. Please do you have any advice before I give up on video on my profile. Hi Kat. Not sure why this would be happening. Are you sure your videos follow the following requirements: Duration: Up to 30 seconds long File size: Up to 75 MB Resolution: 720p or higher It maybe a case where it's just a tad over 30 seconds. Try reducing it to 29 and see if it works
I found this video incredibly helpful and have since provided it to clients to help them set their profile up! I'm wondering how to add the set up appointments option on your Google Business Profile? This was the only additional thing I couldn't find in the video.

I am in the furniture assembly business and that specific category isn't included in the dropdown list. A friend of mine in a different city has this as his business, however. I have asked Google to include this category but was declined. Why in one city and not another (mine).?
Hi Jeff. Categories are not city specific. They are based on your business type and the country you live in. I checked the list of related furniture categories available in the US and couldn't find Furniture assembly. Any chance you can name the business in question so I can take a look?
Incredible resource! Can you shed light on setting up multiple profiles for a service based business trying to rank in two separate cities on maps with an address verified business? Should one do that under one Google account, or set up a separate account?

You can create multiple profile for a service area type of business under one account as long as you abide to the Google's guidelines which are: You have different staff servicing the different areas The addresses on the listings are farther than 2 hours driving distance from each other The service areas don’t overlap

If they don’t, just specify the town and post code without the exact street name. I wouldn’t recommend using the address on your google profile if you think one of your competitors can report you. You’ll avoid suspension that way

However I have been having issue regarding claiming my business, which is when I try to claim it after going thru the category and upon reaching the address it doesn’t go to the next step saying, “Invalid Input” It will be so good of you if you could walk me through this. Most likely real estate agent. If it's one individual just use their home address as a location then set a service area. You'll need to remove the address once the listing has been created.
Not sure if you can offer any advice, but we set up the BPM and it has said that the business is verified but after a couple of weeks, continues to sit in an "unpublished state". The message on the dashboard indicates, "Listings may be reviewed for quality and can take up to 3 days to be published". Any advice on what to do next to get published?
Really great video! Question here: Is it possible to change the adres of a profile and verify that with phone call? My friend has 3 villas in another country for rent. Unfortunately he already created a google my business profile in the past. His mistake was that he just created 1 profile for all 3 villas. And now he wants to split them. My suggestion is that he changes the existing one with just changing the adres to "villa 1 adres xy..." and then he needs to create another 2 Profiles 1 for each villa. So in total 3 Profiles. Problem here: Can he verify the changing of adres and creating of 2 other profiles just with phone call? --> would be to laborious and expensive to do that with other 2 options

Hi Lucy. Since you only deal with customers face to face locally I would add the address of your business location in your profile and try ranking for keywords in "the classic organic google results" to reach a national audience.

I read something somewhere once, that said be wary when you want to make changes to your profile, because when you do, google will either hide or temporary remove your listing whilst those changes are made. Is there any truth in that?

I have a couple of questions, 1) Can one have multiple business accounts using the same name and email ID?, as a person could be running multiple business or one can have individual business and also be partner with others. 2) Do we need to be physically present in the same location to specify as the 'business location'? As the on line services like coaching/consulting can be done from anywhere. 3) Do we need to have an office or registered place to mention as business location? or to even register for Google Business. 1) Yes you can run multiple businesses and create multiple accounts 2) If your business is exclusively online you're not eligible to claim a listing. You need to make in person contact with your clients to qualify 3) Yes you do Please note that Using a P.O. Box address isn’t allowed. Using a UPS Box address isn’t allowed. Using a virtual office isn’t allowed.

May I ask you a question? When I wanted to type the business category in the first step of "Create profile", whatever I typed, the suggestion list did not show up. Even though I typed the business category "moving company" and "dentist" as you did in the video, the suggestion list also did not appear. Maybe you know how to deal with this problem? Thanks a lot.
Not sure why this is happening. It should show up by default since google won't let you enter whatever you want in there. Did you manage to pass the step? Have you tried from another computer?
First of all, thank you for a very informative video. However the part about live video verification is really knee jerking.. I'm running a small marketing firm and my biggest lead generation is setting up GMB profiles for small businesses with no digital footprints. Now I have to convice the potential customer to let me into their shop and record their entire company? Jeez, that's a real hazzle to say the least. Are google hell bent on one verification or can they be swayed to accept another one? cheers
I'm afraid the default option you are given to verify listings is the one you have to use. Google has implemented new ways to fight against spam. Can you not ask your clients to shoot a video themselves?

Same as you normally would. The only problem your clients might face is if the businesses in the building have the same activity and primary category. Your client's listing is likely to be filtered out in search results in favour of those already established businesses

I hope my following question makes sense....I would like to do this for clients....setting up and optimizing their profile....I would, however, like to initially try out a fake business to make sure I understand everything fully before offering it to others. I understand you made up a business to use in this example but once asked for your phone # or to verify and you are asked for your address to send postcard, etc isn't it then checked out by google to make sure a legitimate business? Once it's verified isn't it then listed in google? In other words, how can I fully try out a fake business privately, so to speak, and all the details without actually posting it on google or trying to actually verify it? Or do I do all the steps and then delete it later as its not an actual business?
The only way execute your plan is to create a legitimate listing and verify it without being detected by google. To do this I also suggest you make sure you have a unique phone number for the listing.

Yes you can edit your review. Just login to your google account then go back to the listing and retrieve the review. You should see an edit link

@@zainulabaidin9343 Hi zain. When it comes to citations for service area businesses use the most important directories. Some of them will allow you to hide your address. If they don’t, just specify the town and post code without the exact street name. I wouldn’t recommend using the address on your google profile if you think one of your competitors can report you. You’ll avoid suspension that way

Most likely real estate agent. If it's one individual just use their home address as a location then set a service area. You'll need to remove the address once the listing has been created.

Not sure if you can offer any advice, but we set up the BPM and it has said that the business is verified but after a couple of weeks, continues to sit in an "unpublished state". The message on the dashboard indicates, "Listings may be reviewed for quality and can take up to 3 days to be published". Any advice on what to do next to get published?

My friend has 3 villas in another country for rent. Unfortunately he already created a google my business profile in the past.
His mistake was that he just created 1 profile for all 3 villas. And now he wants to split them.
My suggestion is that he changes the existing one with just changing the adres to "villa 1 adres xy..." and then he needs to create another 2 Profiles 1 for each villa.
So in total 3 Profiles.
Problem here: Can he verify the changing of adres and creating of 2 other profiles just with phone call? --> would be to laborious and expensive to do that with other 2 options

Hi Lucy. Since you only deal with customers face to face locally I would add the address of your business location in your profile and try ranking for keywords in "the classic organic google results" to reach a national audience.

I read something somewhere once, that said be wary when you want to make changes to your profile, because when you do, google will either hide or temporary remove your listing whilst those changes are made. Is there any truth in that?
Absolutely not! The only case instance when this may happen is when you change your address as you will be likely asked to reverify your listing.

1) Can one have multiple business accounts using the same name and email ID?, as a person could be running multiple business or one can have individual business and also be partner with others.
2) Do we need to be physically present in the same location to specify as the 'business location'? As the on line services like coaching/consulting can be done from anywhere.
3) Do we need to have an office or registered place to mention as business location? or to even register for Google Business.

1) Yes you can run multiple businesses and create multiple accounts
2) If your business is exclusively online you're not eligible to claim a listing. You need to make in person contact with your clients to qualify

Not sure why this is happening. It should show up by default since google won't let you enter whatever you want in there. Did you manage to pass the step? Have you tried from another computer?
First of all, thank you for a very informative video. However the part about live video verification is really knee jerking.. I'm running a small marketing firm and my biggest lead generation is setting up GMB profiles for small businesses with no digital footprints. Now I have to convice the potential customer to let me into their shop and record their entire company? Jeez, that's a real hazzle to say the least. Are google hell bent on one verification or can they be swayed to accept another one?

I'm afraid the default option you are given to verify listings is the one you have to use. Google has implemented new ways to fight against spam. Can you not ask your clients to shoot a video themselves?

Same as you normally would. The only problem your clients might face is if the businesses in the building have the same activity and primary category. Your client's listing is likely to be filtered out in search results in favour of those already established businesses

I hope my following question makes sense....I would like to do this for clients....setting up and optimizing their profile....I would, however, like to initially try out a fake business to make sure I understand everything fully before offering it to others. I understand you made up a business to use in this example but once asked for your phone # or to verify and you are asked for your address to send postcard, etc isn't it then checked out by google to make sure a legitimate business? Once it's verified isn't it then listed in google? In other words, how can I fully try out a fake business privately, so to speak, and all the details without actually posting it on google or trying to actually verify it? Or do I do all the steps and then delete it later as its not an actual business?
The only way execute your plan is to create a legitimate listing and verify it without being detected by google. To do this I also suggest you make sure you have a unique phone number for the listing.
