Bonjour Marie! This series was great, and I hope that you do more like it in the future for other holidays/events! I help my Mom care for my Step-Dad who has very bad dementia, and we don't exhange gifts, just time with each other. Since my last girlfriend passed away suddenly nearly 3 years ago, I have not been especially social other than while at work with co-workers. Other than that, I have been spending time alone trying to learn and improve French, and learn American Sign Language. Maybe next year I will feel up to trying to connect with a new girlfriend, and share our holidays, but I just haven't felt up to it. Thanx again for these Christmas in France vlogs, and for all that you do for all of us! Joyeux Noel! ~Be Blessed

A very nice and thoughtful set of videos. Congratulations! Our entire family will be together, and although we will be giving many individual gifts (pens, book, earrings, athletic equipment, toys for the youngest) the real gift of Christmas is the sharing of the companionship and love of all 19 of us - grandparents, parents, and nine grandchildren. As you said, creating memories may be the greatest gift of all.

Marie, I hope you have a merry Christmas. What I gift friends and family kind of varies on their interests. My best friends are sports fans, mainly American football, baseball and pro wrestling. So I usually get them dvds and shirts. My mother is into westerns, so I went with gifts relating to that. Usually for family out of state, I either send a gift card or packages from Georgia to them. Close to where I live, there's small businesses and family farms and I send gifts from them. I appreciate your interest in everybody's traditions worldwide, wishing you a happy 2022.
I give all my grandchildren books. So important to learn to read. Merry Christmas. Stay warm.

Thanks for the cultural video about French people at Christmas. The answers were very nice. We can't see most of our family this year due to the stupidity of covid. There will just be immediate family. We are all adults so give money and gift cards so people can buy what they need. There will be good food games and laughter.
I had my grandkids let me know what they like,and we went from there. We tried to add a surprise also. Melissa Ward here in USA.

Its a "Creole" thing, Mardi Gras. Its multiple cultures all getting together and having a good time. Its very hot down here. Humid. It would be a very strange thing for someone from another part of the world to experience. You cant walk into a store without meeting all different kinds of cultures. There is no way to explain. Most of the folks in Louisiana are Catholic. The religion has a tradition that on Ash Wednesday you go to church and confess your sins, that then have ashes put on your forehead. So down in Louisiana the residents said, "well lets have a party". Its called "FAT TUESDAY",. This is where everyone "lets the steam out". So everyone goes out and has a good time, cause you never know what you are going to confess to the good lord what you did. It is a tradition all across Louisiana. And it is based off the party in Rio. But it is son different. I would really enjoy seeing your reaction to the below video. But I will also send you a video about Mamou.

At Christmas ? Nothing, presents were bought and gifted months before. I was born on the 24th of December need I say more?
Pour ma famille pour les cadeaux de Noël, je leurs ai donné des cartes cadeaux, pour qu’ils puissent choisir quelque chose qu’ils aiment. J’ai choisi des cartes cadeaux pour les magasins qu’ils aiment, surtout Macys, un grand magasin de bonne qualité aux États-Unis. À mon avis, comme Chrétien, le meilleur cadeau jamais donné, c’était le cadeau du Fils de Dieu, né dans une crèche à Bethlehem il y’a plus que 2000 ans.
