I do a lot of cooking with lard from my pigs these days. Make soap with it too. A coworker of mine gave me some TN bear lard (grease) and it’s amazing. I sure would like to get to hunting some TN bear.

  • @Shaw.77

That oldest boy of yours is getting big. Great video.

I rendered lard and tallow for the first time myself this year; after learning how bad processed seed oils (commonly known as vegetable oil) are for you. I was told it needed to be pressure canned, but I’m going to flip my jars next time. That’s how they did it growing up. Definitely would be easier and save me a lot of time. 👍🏽

I remember mother rendering lard when a pig was butchered. It has quite a strong smell rendering down if I remember correctly.

  • @jackkeeble9272

Nice son , you are a very talented man 👍

  • @nicholassaples8192

There ain't nothing better than a great family dinner enjoying a roasted critter, no doubt Mr Mcgie. You need that salad to wash down and clean out your system. God bless yawl. Always love watching the whole family and Frankie at the table. 😂❤😊

  • @lindatipton2390

I've rendered lard all my life but always did it in very large iron skillets never seen it in a big pot

  • @lastdayshomesteading6288

Sure make that possum look good. Love the old wood stove. Reminds me staying with my mamaw. Enjoyed video take care

  • @wranther

By golly Micah, is that Matt the Bridge Builder hard at work this morning? Looking like he is well on his way to a winning design! Just that much hint, nothing more, why all your bridge builder buddies now know they need kick it up a notch to try and catch up!! Sure would like to know what all you have done to poor Frank to turn him so shy. Always so good to see your eating table filled with good food while surrounded by family and a Celebrity Baconator! Truth be told, just ask your boys for when the horseplay erupts in the garden space, all it takes is one side eye glare, and let me tell you what, Mary has her brothers all lined out! Even better, with all the kidding and joking around, a Good meal was had and Shared, making this a Great Day! =Bob...

We render lard and also beef tallow. Always use lard for pastry. Beef is great for frying. Never problems when I use my cast iron. Have a great day and God bless 💞

Great video. I noticed one of your sons working on a popsicle bridge? I sure hope so. I so enjoyed the previous bridge videos. Hope to see a new one this year. I can remember my high school shop teacher building them and then adding weights until they broke. If if was good luck.
