If I don't know quotes am I cooked.😖😖 (I know a few quotes my teacher just doesn't think it's enough)
June 2017 exam report: ‘ ‘It is worthwhile pointing out that examiners are looking for references, which covers a number of things; references to details of the text (incidents, characters, settings); paraphrasing; quotations.’
Hi, how many paragraphs should I write for each Paper 1 question (AQA), subsequently, how many points do you recommend I make in each paragraph, and may you recommend what points to use. I have previously been writing six paragraphs, with 4/5 points (point, quote, language, effect on reader) per paragraph, and have been getting high 6’s/7’s and would like to get a grade 7-9. Any advice is appreciated 🙌
EDIT: was brutally aired
I've always been taught to write 1 introduction and then 3 detailed paragraphs, 4 if you have time (I get grade 8s and 9s btw, so I don't think its about how much you write, but what it is you're writing) x
Daniel mills is cooked

I might be cooked but I’m also the king of yapping, so I might be fine.

hi for paper 1 for literature aqa what will actually be on it? is it macbeth, a christmas carol and the anthology poems (power and conflict) because i am really confused as to what i am supposed to be revising.
For AQA paper 1 is Macbeth and A Christmas Carol.

Do you have to write about structure and form to get a high grade and whats the best structure?
No. I go through that when talking about ao2 here AQA English Literature Paper 1 Section A: 2024 Update (with 'Macbeth' Example)
ruclips.net/video/4YJIfbm-3vs/видео.html

exams in a few hours and im hoping for a 9, thank you mr bruff i love you
im so stressed
Thanks for all the videos! I have always disliked English but I need to get a good grade so that I can pursue medicine and these videos are perfect!
Should the first main body paragraph always be the extract, or is it fine to do it whenever as long as you talk about the extract at some point
No, you do not need to begin with the extract. AQA have mentioned this a couple of times in exam reports now. Basically, you should write about the extract when it's relevant to your answer. So in the Macbeth example in this video, you might start with how the witches are presented in A1S1 before moving on to explore the extract. The main thing is you MUST write about both the extract and the wider text. When you do that will vary depending on your idea.
@@mrbruff Even if the question says "starting with the extract?"
@@mrbruff Does the ratio between the paragraphs you write for the extract and paragraphs you write from the wider text matter? Can you do 1 from the extract and 2 or 3 from with wider text
The question is always worded this way, and that’s what AQA have clarified: start with whatever is best for your line of argument.
The ratio doesn’t matter, as long as you write about both extract and wider text.
im literally cooked i was watching the eng language playlist. this is my last resort💔💔
My exam is in 1hr I'm praying
If you are using quotations from the wider text, do you need to refer to the exact act or scene it is taken from, or can you just talk about the plot-point?, e.g. 'take my milk for gall' is from Lady Macbeth's soliloquy after reading Macbeth's letter.
Talking about the plot-point in relation to the extract is absolutely fine, I don't think memorising the act and scene for each of your quotes is necessary.
@@fatsushi22 Thanks!
No, you don't need to refer to the exact act/scene x
@@Pen_Pom Thanks!
My fingers hurt from writing all the wisdom this man has provided me.
You guys the questions were actually really good, Macbeth was on lady Macbeth and A christmas carol was on scrooge changing/redemption
