Great video, thank you so much for your hard work on this !!. I've used a backing track app called "OneTrack" for years but this stopped being developed years ago and now i need to replace my ipad and was researching a replacement app and came across your video. I've never been a big fan of having lyrics on stage, i thought it unprofessional, however as i get older im finding it harder to learn new songs and retain the lyrics, (we've all had that panic when a verse is coming up and your mind goes totally blank !!),.. so having the lyrics as a reference/memory kick is great.

Hello again. I am enjoying ST3 so much! It took me a bit of time to let the "simplicity" of this program sink in. Sounds crazy, doesn't it. Some people make this so complicated when it's not necessary. I guess I fall into that category. It's working for me and it's working very well. Yesterday, I spent nearly two hours in a "zoom meeting, with a fellow gospel artist" demonstrating this new treasure I've added to my "kit". He brought up a question about "encours". I don't do them but he has a lot of his Gospel tracks where he and his singing trio use them often. My solution was to make a trax for the portion of the song and then attach it to the original track. In the software we've used, Emcee Pro", for nearly 20 years, it was very easy to just put a marker in the trax for the inclusion of the encour. Have you ever done this? Or, have you ever put this question to the developer? Thank you so much for your help and guidance.

I'm sorry if I'm taking up some of your valuable time, but I do fully appreciate your help here,
so to understand all this a little bit more and from what I'm Being told,
was to buy the iO Dock so that because the headphone socket of an ipad is not a balanced signal I could connect it to this IO dock and take my cables from it to the mixing desk,
So your saying all I need is just the ipad and nothing else 🤔
hense why I could not easily find the iO dock 2, it's ancient tech, I just want my backtracks to sound best they can from the ipad Sheron, which I'm still looking for 🤔

    • @sheronmusician
      @sheronmusician  Год назад

Theres many ways to connect the iPad to a mixer/sound system. The iPad doesn’t need to be “balanced”.
I’m sorry you’ve been misled. The only time you “may” need balanced lines is if and when you are needing very very long cables and perhaps if your mixers input is too weak (hardly ever happens). And for that there are DI boxes, they come very cheap if that’s even necessary.
I would advertise to sell that IO dock. Completely unnecessary for your needs.
*you are definitely not taking any valuable time, and while I am very busy, part of this channel and these vids are meant to help, and so I’m gladly assisting you.

I was talkng to a producer and he told me buy the Alesis iO Dock and a lightning adapter from 30pin, which I did, and now I must look for an ipad, but as you said no less than Gen6, will anything ftom gen 6 up work on the old Alesis iO Dock Station, I was also told go and get an ipad Pro
this is all new to me as I have never used ipads previously, and now tonight I'm looking at a RUclips clip telling me to make sure all is up to date latest version and also newer apple software apps may not work with the old Alesis iO Dock, so now I ha e already spend nearly €200 between the Alesis iO dock, power adapter and lightning adapter, but still no ipad Pro,

Thank you so much Sheron for sharing your knowledge with us, Hi Sheron, I absolutely love your tutorials on backing tracks and it's a gift to record your own, which of course makes you sound different from the rest of us,
Right now im playing to backing tracks which came from Hittrax and loaded onto the M-live merish plus player, sounds ok, I won't say outstanding but you know what I mean, you could say!! outstanding Sheron,
now I'm being told buy an ipad and use a software to run my
Backing tracks, stage trax 3 looks amazing with all that it can do and for a small fee,
So I also have the Reaper studio latest version, but I really do not have the time nor patience to record my own backing tracks, patience is a virtue lol, I just want to upgrade from old technology from the merish plus player
And buy an Ipad first and foremost, Sheron what would you recommend I buy here,
I have never before dealt with ipads, and then we come to playback will the sound be as good if not much better than the merish plus, I know the merish 5 is out now but man crazy crazy price, I'm your new fan, please if you have time point me on the right track here, thanks

    • @sheronmusician

Hi Martin thank you for watching and for you comment.
iPad and StageTraxx3 is the way to go in my opinion. To be able to run into the future I’d look into a rather recent enough iPad, maybe Gen8 if you can, but not less than Gen6. Better even newer but please note that from Gen9 and the newer iPad Air they have removed the headphone jack output and you’ll need an adapter to be able to both charge and play audio if you intend using a headphone type output.
The other option is a digital output using a sound card of sorts, that’s a different thing that most people would fine less than ideal.
On the app itself Theres much new and I intend to make at least one or two more videos to show the new features.
The app does run on older iPads but as with everything these days rather buy the most recent iPad you can to be able to get the most recent updates etc.
iPad storage is one of the most important if you’re going to load a lot of songs on it. I’d say nothing less than 128GB to make sure you don’t run out of space for the foreseeable future. More would be better. At the worst case scenario I’d avoid buying anything less than 64GB.
You don’t have to record your own, there are good sites like karaoke version dot com, you can buy custom tracks there for $3 or so and customize them to your needs. Or convert your existing tracks to work on ST3. It’ll be some work but when it’s done you won’t need to worry about that further 🤟

So your saying I can indeed go directly from the ipad headphone socket to my
Mackie Pro 16 FX V3 desk
So finally you'll be glad to know Sheron, the ipad, do I have to buy an ipad PRO 6th gen, or can I just buy an ipad that's 6th to 9th generation
The Pro's are not cheap even 2nd hand 🤔

Firstly see if you can return the Dock, don’t open it maybe? Ask if you can return it for a refund.
You don’t need the iPad Pro, you can definitely just get the normal iPad.
You can get a later iPad than the normal 6 just get the “lightning to headphone - and Charger” converter.
      Something like this
      www.google.co.za/shopping/product/1207430109767757001?q=lightning+to+headphone+jack+adapter&client=safari&hl=en-za&biw=390&bih=664&tbs=vw:l&sxsrf=ALiCzsbXGigEcmzuNM7n29Ha0iUD2CiJ9g:1667918953592&prds=eto:3422191987950721318_0,cdl:1,prmr:1,pid:8399434204816087372,cs:1
Then you can get any iPad without the headphone jack, whatever suits your price as long as you have enough space, 128gb preferably 🤟

HI again Sheron, just letting you know the Ipad gen 9 has been ordered and its the one with the headphone 3.5mm, just before apple took it out, also yes I got it with 256GB of storage, should have it within the next few days, and then I suppose Stagetraxx 3 is first to be loaded up onto it, and also I meant to ask you stagetraxx 3 only plays MP3 backing tracks and not midi, as I also have many midi tracks also but a lot of which lacks in quality to be good enough for a live show , that's the thing with midi, that's exactly what it is no matter what editing you do with it, so let the whole new learning curve being, what is the latest Stagetraxx now thats on offer

    • @sheronmusician

      Awesome, you'll enjoy your iPad

Sheron I'm back hoping you can bring an ease to my mind once again, I lose sleep over the slightest thing,
I turned on my ipad today and up pops a message reading I have not backed up my Ipad in 4 weeks, 🤔 I have so much work and hours put into St3 and I would hate for anything to go wrong now,
I have not backed up my Ipad,
what do this mean and why is my gen 9 asking me,
what would you consider the best way of doing this and how, I was looking at RUclips just now and it's to do with backing up to iCloud or iTunes
no idea here on which way to go, I told you it's my first time ever going down the road with Apple 🤔

    • @sheronmusician
      @sheronmusician  Год назад +1

Backing up your iPad is always a good idea, same goes for anything that contains data you need :)
iCloud backup is fine, but I would also do a full ST3 backup separately and upload that to your google drive or dropbox, whichever you have.
Backup St3 EVERY TIME you make changes, add anything etc.

Quite interresting. I use a similar App on the PC which is called StageTraker. But an Ipad is more convenient.
Now let me ask some Questions:
How do you connect to the PA? Bluetooth?
Second Question: Do you have experience with a guitar FX-Pedal controlled by midi commands, like the TC-Helicon Voicelive 3 X? I read in the manual, that one can use inline midi commands.

    • @sheronmusician
      @sheronmusician  3 года назад +1

Very interesting, a long time ago I also bought Stage traker 3 and been hoping for a iPad version of it. Now discontinued, I contacted the developer and with all cheek didn’t want to give any new serials (you’d think after you pay 100 dollars at least you get a serial that would work as long as your Pc or mac works) and offered me to pay another 100 dollars version 4!
To connect to PA you can use the headphones output, AirPlay or camera kit if you have a digital mixer or natively supported audio interface. With AirPlay I find that the lyrics highlight a little ahead of the audio due to latency in sending the audio to the Apple router.
Thank you for watching and commenting 😊
I have in the past used midi to change patches to my vocal and guitar units. I have learnt recently that this app can do this very easily and will upload a quick video for this as well.

No Sheron, I'll go on your advice, you have it all tried and tested and the IO Dock is here beside me looks well but if I don't need it why use it and its only more cables, Less the better, with regards to good quality 3.5mm stereo jack to XLR 🤔 or maybe twin mono quarter inch Jack plugs, what would you recommend here I go with 🤔 yes the IO Dock is going back up for sale that's for sure, I have read a few horror reviews on it and anyway it will not work with my Gen 9 full stop...

Looks great. Question though, we are a three-piece act, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar and vocals. Presently using a looper for drum tracks which is mediocre at best. Looking for something like this with the ability to remove the bass, and guitars as so we can play to it. Would like the drums, maybe some keyboards etc. when required. If this app could do that it would be perfect. Please advise.

This app can allow you to play multi track files so if you have your tracks with separate bass, guitars etc then you should be fine.
