What a fantastic tutorial! I'm not new to RUclips 'how to' videos but it's so good to watch a short video like this and then 2 minutes later I'm searching my bookshelves for a suitable trial book; that's how confident your guide has made me.
From a 76yo scroll saw newbe: Had to come back and thank you for the intro to the "Double Reverse blades"!!! Used them on a name sign and it made all the difference ................. THANKS SO MUCH
So very clever. This would make a good home for a home protection item! Thank you for sharing good job and to the point. Steve Good sent me and I am glad he did.
What a great idea. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Do you ever find it necessary to glue/bind the inside of the pages after the safe hole os cut out?
I just bought a scroll saw to do this project. I’m not sure how to get started after making the pilot hole. The blade runs up and down so you can only start on the side.
Thank you so much for the reply! I’ve never used the scroll saw before, and it doesn’t seem like it lifts up like that. It seems like the blade is fixed, but I’ll try again. Thank you.
Hi! My 5th grade daughter has been working hard to try to make these, and we keep encountering a situation where we start the cut, and the blade pops out of the holder. It really doesn't seem to like cutting the paper! Any suggestions? It holds a blade just fine when we cut wood.
Hi, Karen! You might try a stronger blade? I’ve since had the best luck with Pegas super skip…try a higher number too and take it slow without pushing hard. Hope that helps!
@@WendellWoodworks Thank you! I'm using Pegas blades too. I've tried skip, reverse skip, and modified geometry, but I couldn't find super skip in the store. When you use the glue in the first step on the pages, does it just soak in at the edges or does it soak in further than that? I'm having a touch more success when I use shims to hold down the pages right next to the blade, but it's still super frustrating.

That’s great! So glad it worked out for ya!
Great project tutorial, quick, concise and clear. Kudos!

Very cool idea.. I'll have to try this one. 😊
So cool. I love it and you do an amazing job of explaining every detail :)
Thanks for watching! 😊

Thanks! Never needed to glue the inside :)
Thanks! Have you tried to sell book safes on Etsy? If so how did they sell?
Yup! That’s where I sold them. Went really well for me. It normally takes some time to get your first sales and then it picks up 🙂

The blade goes through the pilot hole. Then you can move/cut the book :). It should show in the video!

@ the blade comes out! There should be a top screw and a bottom one. And you can replace them as needed :).

I just subscribed!!
Woohoo! Thanks for watching, Ron!
Any new videos coming out?
Hopefully in the New Year! I had good intentions for more this year, but…mom life ;). Thanks for watching!
Nice video! I made one yesterday and it came out nice. Would you say that the # 12 blade should be trashed after one book?
That’s great! Thanks for watching! It probably depends on how thick the book is…but thick books will definitely burn through blades fast :).
Can you use mod podge to bind the pages? Thanks for sharing!
Hmm I’ve never tried, but probably so! :)
@@WendellWoodworks I'll give it a try. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your talents!
I just subscribed and am really enjoying your videos. (Via, Steve Good's link to your site)
