  • You’ve never seen scroll sawing like this! I need a new Halloween themed scroll saw project. When I saw this picture, I knew it was perfect. It’s four jack-o-lanterns, all with creepy faces. There isn’t a lot of materials needed. I used pretty exotic woods, but it was all tiny offcuts. The pumpkins are osage hedge apple. The interior colors are tigerwood. I used lignum vitae for the pumpkin stems. All the pieces are glued to a piece of MDF with wenge veneer. Links to where you can buy some of the woods are listed below.
    The artwork licensed from: stock.adobe.com

What a fun project, I like it. I'm looking forward to getting into my shop and making something awesome however, I have to sell my house 1st and buy a new 1. To do that I have to paint. I hate painting! But it has to be done and the faster I get it done the faster I can get into a new house. Time to get back to work. Be safe, keep making, and stay awesome.

It took three months to get the latest one out. I started on Nov 7th, so basically right after this one! They others won't be this long.

Beautiful, Billy. Another intricate project. Hedge apple is also known as osage orange.

I just love the natural colors from the variety of species rather than pine stained which brings each piece over the top! Ik you’ve said in the past how you get some of these rarer finds but can you explain that again or go through your process of milling down, etc. I’d love to make something like the comic book characters you’ve done, my nephews are growing up but they’d go bananas for one

    Really beautiful work, Billy! 😃
Which made me remember... I have a kind of scroll saw... But it's from Dremel, I believe. I need to find it and find a good place for it!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Billy m8 that is awesome. Love the contrast with the Tiger wood. My opinion id of went with a darker wood for round the eyes and mouth but just my preference stil looks amazing 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I went back and forth on it. It's hard to tell the exact final color without applying finish.
