Of course Alcaraz would be a heavy favourite. But one set, on a fast indoor court, assuming Federer had been practicing and was injury free, Federer could still give Alcaraz a run for his money. I definitely wouldn't predict 6-0.
No way Federer can play a match. The level of fitness you have to be at to play a match, holding serving, rallies, time between shots. That was probably just a 15-20 minute session between them.
I'm more interested in why Fed did it. Training with Carlos would have had to be at 100% or close to it, as it was during the tournament (unless these two minutes was all that really happened that day). And if he did indeed had a full practice session with Carlos means that Roger is now sufficiently injury-free. Which raises some questions. Was it a test drive of his fitness level and readiness to return to the tour? 🤔🧐
@@halflink He’s’ definitely not coming back mate. Rogers body couldn’t hold this level for that long now days. Trust me it’ll be dream to see him play again.. but it’s not realistic
I guess it's only with a camera on court level, that you can see the effectiveness of that slice backhand. It is so low that's almost impossible to hit the ball with a two handed backhand. Maybe it's the same with the kick-serve, when the ball is bouncing very high and you have to hit a two handed backhand at the height of your head. When the camera is placed very high, you can't see how high or low the ball is bouncing.
He probably can't even afford it. He still has many lucrative sponsorship endorsements, making high profile public appearances and advertisements, he's still a "fashion icon" (see for example the glasses collection he promotes, he's wearing it everywhere now), so he has to take care of himself, he has to look good.
great insight. Fed 2.0 as brand ambassador (Lindt, Rolex, Uniqlo, On, freakin 🇨🇭 Switzerland, etc) necessitates he maintains his looks as well as his persona
@@J.-M. you're probably right but he doesn't strike me as somebody who would let himself go even without these endorsements etc. I think he has too much self respect
Agreed if he had miraculously restored knees, his only ATP form fitness area which couldn’t quite recover despite all surgical efforts near end of his career. It was said his upper body always looks fluid and relaxed, but his legs actually had to do a lot of supporting work for his style.
@@ShahzodAbduqodirov-gi2dq Federer looks more effortless, but Carlos hits the ball just as hard if not harder and he also has amazing touch. No one makes it look as good as Roger though.
It's why he never needed the backhand drive of a Wawrinka , he could use it to keep the ball low on his backhand side , set up inside out forehands, keep the ball at a manageable height for his top spin backhand . As well as keep the ball low for big hitters and those who like the ball around shoulder height

No he could not. The body isn't there anymore. Even though his skill is impressive as ever, when you lose even a small percentage of your strength, ATP tour is unforgiving.
