Jonny had his tele’s stolen out of Denver in the early 90’s. My brother unknowingly bought one of them. He had it for 20+ years until another brother figured it out. It was the brown one or Tele II. We were able to return it to Jonny. He was extremely happy. I loved playing that guitar
If I could post a picture of me playing it on RUclips I would. The big chunk taken off of the edge above the pick guard was the clue that proved it was Jonny’s. Plank offered my brother $1500 for it and he accepted.
@@keatonm100 Just 1500? Man, what a lowball. Returning the stolen guitar of one of the most revered and successul musicians of the past 25 years should be rewarded better. Regular Tele Plus fetch more than that!

Do you have an exceptional sound with the modern player? Or it's better made Mexico? Thanks in advance for the suggestion spark
looks really cool but it doesnt sound quit like jonnys, theres a dude playing radioheads songs on youtube using a jazzmaster and he got the tone really spot on. maybe less treble and more bass will help. the guitar is amazing tho
Jonny doesn’t play a Jazzmaster though. But he does play this exact Telecaster setup. Also keep in mind the sound in person is a bit different than the sound recorded from my iPhone speaker.
Looks like he used the Fender Modern Player Tele Plus but just left the middle pickup out when putting on a new pickguard. Couple years back I really wanted to do the same thing.
@@aabattery45 On the Greenwood / fenders, he pickup rings is pretty much snug with the indentation in the scratchplate. You will get a fatter and more punchy tone as you get away from the bridge. On your tele, the forward (to the neck) coil will sound like the back coil on a Plus dually. The bad news is: You will have a little cavity visable from the original route. An "all in one" HB tele bridge would cover it. But I don't know if any have the nice rounded holes for duallys. www.guitarfetish.***com/Black-Humbucker-bridge-for-Telereg-Guitars_p_115.html [remove the "***" to use] Or maybe you could find a veneer or plate that matches the wood to cover it, if you did move it? Otherwise - a finished ash plug would be the pro luthier rout.
Magnum Farce the pickup itself is in the right spot. The pick guard isn’t an exact match for the guitar so it looks slightly off. Sounds amazing in person though.
Yes look at the pic, bridge pickup needs to be further toward neck, leaving space between bridge and dually. That space will have a hole if it was a regular tele pickup there. Pickguard needs more routing to go around dually ring. (And also to fit larger neck pickup, but that's already done.)

This looks like it was built up on a modern player. I built one too, it’s an awesome guitar.
A modern player plus telecaster made in China HoneyBurst. Nice I made one myself too but included the silver lace middle.
Pretty good dude!!
i like that killswitch on the bottom
I have two questions, did you install the TBX tone pot? And what suboctave pedal did you use? Nice Tele!
James Is In Rainbows Nope no TBX. Does he actually use one? And I use an EHX Pitch Fork.

Hello! Thanks for this.
I intend to build one. Do you know where can I find the pickguard / kill switch / stickers?
Thanks!
did you ever find the pickguard and plate
How did you get this, and how can I get one too?
Micah Buzan I custom made this. I have another one I made at the same time. Same exact thing. Would be willing to sell. Let me know.
Matt Lynch id be interested, still have it ?
Hi Matt, what guitar series is this? I'm interested in buying yours if i can know how's the spec. Sounds excellent and I'm lloking for it. Thanks!
Omar it’s a Telecaster plus. Fender. Fantastic neck
Omar it’s newer than his exact model. The model he used costs $2,000 before doing any of the modification work.
Matt Lynch Oh I see, but i think i see the gap between bridge pickup and the pickup guard which meant it was costumized, wasn’t it?
Omar yes the whole guitar was customized to replicate Greenwood’s guitar. A lot of work went into it.
nice project.. what telecaster did it start as? and how exactly did you get it done?
Looks like he used the Fender Modern Player Tele Plus but just left the middle pickup out when putting on a new pickguard. Couple years back I really wanted to do the same thing.
Yes was the Modern Player. Removing all the pickups was step 1.
That’s really beautiful, how much did the total come out to?
Sungjoo Hwang cost to make?
Yeah
Sungjoo Hwang I don’t remember exactly. Made two of them. Sold one. Wasn’t cheap but was worth it. Would make more if there was interest.
Matt Lynch how much would you sell a new one for?
Pick 0.60 mm nylon Jim Dunlop ????
what that button you press where like the sound goes out
It's called a kill switch and they don't cost to much
one thing that you missed was actually the sticker on the back of the headstock of his guitar
ok
it's a modern player teleplus made in China
