I was so happy when I found out about this gem a few months ago. Honestly, the way she transports emotions is out of this world. Such a rich tone. You should definitely listen (with reaction please) to "Bad Dreams Stripped", "You don't even know me stripped" and "Elon" (Elon was a surprise she played at the end of this concert after the credits - it's absolutely amazing.
She also writes all of her songs! All of her stripped versions are just breath taking. Apart from “Elon” “Born without a heart”, “bad dreams”( which she wrote when she was 14) “you don’t even know me”, “how it all works out”. She wrote all of them and many more! She has a Moroccan heritage, moved to Canada when she was around 1. Was gifted a really fast virbrato that makes it *_sound_* like she's using autotune but she never does. She has 11+ years of piano, guitar, violin, djembe(a drum), and many other percussion instruments! Due to this she can distinguish pitch really well. She NEVER had singing lessons. She does it her own way, all relaxed and keeps herself relaxed in her vocal cords when singing. She has a naturally large range making her a mezzo-soprano. She can switch between headvoice and chestvoice in a second, she has amazing control of her voice. She also has an engineer degree which a tiny few people pointed out she uses the physics in that to help her sing too. Hope this helps! Almost all of her recorded songs have "Stripped" versions where it's just focused on her vocals - but she sounds just as good or even better live. This concert and the more-recent Arab Heritage concert were her best performances so far (she just keeps getting better). I highly recommend reviewing more from those concerts or if you want to review some recorded material the "Stripped" versions of: "How It All Works Out", "Bad Dreams", "You Don't Even Know Me", "Born Without a Heart" or even her recent song with John Legend called "Minefields" (Live on the Today show version is the best one for me). No one wants to talk about it, but this is almost certainly pitch corrected. There is no doubt she is an extraordinary singer. She doesn’t need pitch correction. But you can hear it. He heard it. I really wish they would stop pitch correcting great singers. It sounds unnatural, because it is, literally. But I couldn’t always hear it so easily. Then I watched one too many Wings of Pegasus videos and I can’t unhear it now. It’s burned into my brain. It’s like I can hear the note snapping to the line
