That Matt Tait tackle will always be the greatest of all time for me. Was bang in front of me - I couldn't believe the ground he covered.
We were right there too. Amazing
Plus there was that Jerome Kaino tackle that basically wrestled back an opponent that was diving over the line.
And that George Gregan tackle on Jeff Wilson is a boogeyman moment in NZ Rugby. It added to the mythical nature of the player we all loved to hate.

that Josh Lewsey tackle was really unbelievable. He must have weight 15 kilos less than JdV but still smashed him
Lewsey was a proper hard bastard though. Easily one of the toughest players of his era, no one messed with him. There is some footage of him on RUclips doing a similar tackle on Tuigamala who must have been 19 stone at the time and Josh is a kid but still fells him.

I still remember that Matthew Tait try saving tackle as if it was yesterday. No one at Welford Road could believe the pace of his covering run at the time and then his ability to tackle the player beautifully in to touch. It is one of, if not the best try saving tackle I have witnessed in person👍👏❤️❤️

The biggest ever was no doubt the tackle Joost van der Westhuizen took on Jonah Lomu during the 95 World Cup, that in my opinion was what took the wind out of the All Blacks on the day, they would have won if it was not for that tackle and the subsequent drop goal of Joel Strandsky in the dying seconds of the match. Both of them lost the fight for life and departed as friends RIP. lala kahle.

Robbie Fruean what a beast, so unlucky his health condition kept him out. He would've been a great centre, the all blacks would have developed him so well.

That’s what you want in your defence is a player who never gives up to deny a try. Matt Seers (North Sydney Bears) against Brett Mullins (Canberra Raiders) chase was awesome. Even though it was Rugby League.
Another great save was Pietersen in SA vs Fiji 2007 rugby World Cup.

3:02 - Sharks # 13 off his feet, cleaning out a prone chiefs player that is already "out of the play" - leading with head & shoulder, no arm wrap and makes direct, forceful contact to the head with head / should... penalty TO the sharks... what a difference a few years makes in the game

Rassie is just high lighting a greater problem, I have seen hundreds of pod casts by international rugby players saying Rassie is 100% correct but he must follow the right channels....

We all knw in 5 years time some English, Irish or Ozzie officials will come forward and say it was Terri the way the boks were officiated during that period, just like the brice Lawrence, the paddy o brien game, the Romain poite game , the world thinks is funny because the boks are just just losing to top teams with the help of officials and band calls but they must remember dishonesty and corruption wil affect them as well , it's not limited to one country and for now the calls are going against the boks but the tide will turn , the current management will change and then the world will be up in arms ....
Let's fix the problem, in any business when a department is failing, you remove the under performing exec , Joel jutge should be fired....
Blatant match fixing, and always at a critical part in a game where the host nation broadcasters don't replay the correct image or they just blame it on technical issues, you will never find a SA broadcasting company not showing a call 100 times even if the boks are at fault....

I love football. Still do. But all the flopping, rolling, play acting, cheating, etc is off putting. Staring to watch more rugby now. These guys are built like tanks but run like they can fly
