Bagua Fighting Origins - Dragon in the Field 微電影《現龍在田》

Story Background 故事背景：
In the late Qing Dynasty, the imperial court corruption and incompetence, with internal trouble and outside aggression, people struggled in hardship, with difficulties to get by. Dong Haichuan and a number of loyal people with the heart of saving the people as their duty, joined the Taiping Heavenly Kingdome to overthrow the Qing court, to save all nations, to save the people from the hardships. Regretfully, the Taiping army failed in actions. Honorable Dong was hidden in the Prince Shu Mansion and taught kung Fu later in life. Many of his disciples were well known individuals such as very famous in wrestling - Cheng Ting Hua, the Kung Fu coach of Emperor Guangxu - Yinfu, and so on.
晚清年間，朝廷腐敗無能，外憂內患，民不聊生，積重難返。董海川等一批忠義之士心懷救國救民之志加入太平天國，以推翻清廷，救萬民於水火為己任。可惜後來太平軍失敗，董公便隱跡於肅王府，晚年以授拳度日。門下弟子多是當時響噹噹人物，如京城摔跤名手程庭華，光緒帝拳師尹福等等。
Story Outline 故事梗概：
The story is mainly about during the time when Dong Haichuan was hidden in Prince Shu Mansion working as helper, when his skill of Kung Fu was discovered, by the command of King of Hung, he vanquished and accepted the Kung Fu coach Sha Hui Hui as his disciple.
主要講述董海川當時混入肅王府做雜役，其身手被發現後，受洪天王吩咐，趁此收王府教頭沙回回為徒的故事。

Created by Dong Haichuan, belongs to the study of internal Kung Fu, equally famous as Taiji and Xing Yi. Baguazhang is an excellent Kung Fu system combines Taoism Tianzun Qigong and martial arts. Its characteristic is walking in circles, with lots of body twisting to different directions, circle in a circle, probe high hit low, full of changes, has great health fitness and self-defense function.
Most of Honorable Dong’s disciples had different Kung Fu background before they became his follower, thus there were different styles of Baguazhang set up later such as Cheng’s style, Yin’s style, Si’s style...Leafy and spread widely.

At this point in time, Master Wu focuses on the internal style of Kung Fu, which includes research, training, and instructing.
Currently, Doctor Wu is:
* A 4th generation successor of Shang style Xingyi
* A 4th generation successor of Cheng style Bagua
* An 11th generation successor of Chen style Tai Chi
* A 2nd generation successor of Hunyuan Tai Chi
Doctor Wu contributes to the art of Kung Fu through his ability in combining classical Chinese philosophy with modern training and education. He has extracted the essence of traditional Chinese Kung Fu by blending scientific training methods to re-capture the hidden secret powers of traditional Chinese martial arts.
Doctor Wu has a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Zhongshan University China. He has also studied the The Book of Changes, known as ‘I Ching’. As Doctor Wu’s father is also a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, he taught him how to appreciate the healthiness of the body, mind and spirit. These are the same principles Doctor Wu uses as a Qigong instructor.

Dong Hai Chuan's bagua probably looked a lot more like Yin Fu''s bagua... as they had similar backgrounds in Lohan...

Also Yin Fu was his main student for decades. According to record, after they had a falling out, most of the students were actually taught by Cheng Tinghua with Dong Haichuan overseeing the training. Dong Haichuan was too old to teach.
