so this could only done by Current Affairs or separate books
Yeah that's true but for only polity I think it's sufficient and very good reliable source otherwise if you keep looking on many sources, you will be mugged up .

And complete such syllabus of upsc..if u can self study it's take time as well but you will be much more ahead of those toppers.. Read out ncert.. Purchase materials of any coaching and enjoy your journey

Guys stop doing this.. They're toppers for a reason. Only listen to the them when you have confidence in your knowledge. Follow your own style of studying. Build a good base and then improve.

No she's true. I am a civil service aspirant so i know. Laxmikanth gives the idea about articles and provisions in Constitution. But mains are quite different, they are mostly related to critical thinking. For ex- qns on constitutional morality, judicial activism etc. To solve these qns you need a high level of critical and ethical knowledge of linking topics. Laxmikanth doesn't provide these.
I have completed laxmikanth 7-8 times and 80% of the book is on top of my head. I score good in prelims type mcqs. But gs 2 paper doesn't come out good. I am working on it now, something beyond laxmikanth.
I think Ncert 6th to 12th nd some standards book.... For Art ND cuture - Nitin singhania.....Ancient history - R. s sharma... Medival india -Satish Chandra 's nd spectrum...... Polity - laxmikant...... Geo - Majid Husain.........
Geography ke liye NCERT bhi ok

But I think laxmikant is more than sufficient for pre + mains as well

This is not true at all even though she has cleared upsc.....bcoz many toppers who have also cleared upsc n other civil services have solely dependent only on laxmikanth for polity......toppers are mostly related to some or the other coaching institute n hence they never disclose wat actually thy did......so please know yrself n study the best way which suits you and laxmikanth is a legendary book to master polity

Why so people interview toppers anyway? What's the point..? Only a few set of people are anyways gonna be in Top 10.. And everyone knows that everyone can't top. Instead of interviewong toppers, they should interview candidates who qualified just by the neck.. Or people who couldn't qualify or people who qualified after several attempts. That's the kind of motivation that could actually help.

There's a difference in approach for prelims and mains. Prelims k hisabh se MCQs solve ho jaenge laxmikant se par proper GS2 mains k liye nakaafi rahegi.
