I grinded the entire Japanese air tech tree in 2 weeks this thing prints sl 2 bases per match and in downtiers you can just beat the shit out of everyone
Buying it tmr aswell it’s like the F4E so I know, take 24 500lb bombs drop 12 per base and after you got 2 bases either go for kills or return to base and bomb again
Between Danger Zone and Apex Predators I flown 30+ matches on the F-4EJ (got a free talisman on it about a year and a half ago) and got only ONE downtier. I guess it will get better with 12.0 but still.
@Miquel Escribano Ivars things should be easier after the br decompression. But with the new 11.0 prems filling lobbies, I doubt we'll see as many down tiers. It was nice when the average US prem at top tier was 10.3. Created a nice barrier from 10.7-11.3
Start from aim7d in war thunder, the sparrows all equip with Doppler filter. Therefore, as long as enemy not dodging properly(f pole) and you keep the lock (even on the chaff), the missile still can find the target. Early rader missiles like r3r and aim9c those don't have Doppler filter one tap of chaff is enough to defeat them.

So the radar was not guiding the missile, otherwise it should go to the chaff if you were launching a missile without Doppler filter like aim9c, the missile itself knew what and where its target was.

With chaff and flares especially against the better missiles the countermeasures really need to get between you the defender and the missile or enemy plane (for radar) to pull the attention away. In the example in your video he didn't turn so his flares were left behind and you and your missile had an unobstructed path to the plane. Had he been flying more away from you the flares chaff would have been between you both and likely have worked
Not entirely. One match I had an F1C-200 in front of my F-4J at around 2.5km (and he's pulling away) at around 300m altitude. Out of IR missiles and had 2x7F's left. Couldn't get a PD lock so flew even lower to get a lock on normal TRK mode and fired. He dumped flares and chaff, predictably my radar locked onto the chaff(being non PD lock) but unusually the missile still went for him. Really unusual since we were both so low that the radar screen was full of ground clutter fuzz yet it still somehow worked. At that point the chaff was truly between me and him, now I know it's a 7F and not a 7E so maybe the 7F just has better chaff resistance!? (if you can call it that) than a 7E.
That’s just how the Sparrows work. Any SARH missile. So long as your radar is locked onto the chaff after being locked to the aircraft the Sparrow will still go for the aircraft. It’s “Semi” Active Radar Homing. Meaning it works in tandem with your radar but can’t fully track on it’s own. So long as you don’t break the lock the Sparrow will track. Most people don’t know it can do that so as soon as they see chaff locked they break the lock to relock the enemy. It also works with every other SARH missile in the game. R23/24, Skyflash, and the goddamn R27ER that should not have been added to the game yet.

The ability for certain radar missiles to track despite the radar tracking chaff is realistic, most high performance radar missiles have a “speed gate” basically because the missile knows its tracking a moving target, it ignores slow moving returns unless the returns are similar to the plane, think of it like MTI radar, it’s not actually pulse Doppler, but it is functionally similar (in game). Against certain pulse doppler radars, chaff does in fact work, as the enemy jet approaches the notch, chaff becomes more and more effective, because of how the closing rate approaches 0.
Some missiles, like the Aim-7M, Skyflash, Aspide, and several others, have true pulse Doppler compatibly, with their inverse Mono-pulse seekers. As far as I know the seeker type differences aren’t modeled in game yet.
@@friesingcold Inverse monopulse seekers won't be modeled as of now because there is literally nothing they could add. Irl they had better accuracy but in-game all missiles have 100% accuracy and they are immune to simple jamming techniques but ECM isn't in the game.
What are your thoughts on the new br changes coming soon? I know the small decompression will be nice, but idk about the EJ Kai being 11.7. No more F-5C killing. Sure the loadout and radar is good, but a gen 3 jet is still a gen 3, and now vs all the gen 4s is gonna hurt. I hope it gets guided munitions one day so I can do more in grb.

@@Bobspineable Just aim at things without flares. Just for Japan, you got 3 different sabres (8.7-9.0), the T-2 (9.7), the F-1 (10.3) and the F-104J (10.7). All without flares you could easily kill. It’s still kinda dumb having sabres vs the Su-25. Mid-50s vs mid-80s tech is quite the gap.
2:25 F-16A is def better than the EJ Kai but I currently find the EJ Kai more fun to play. Two extra missiles and the better high-speed instantaneous turn for last-second notching feels more... interactive?
F-16 isn’t gonna be better because it doesn’t have the missile capability that the F-4EJ KAI has. This is why the F-14 is still top dog because it has more missiles and it’s a decent plane. also F-16 rn is absolutely a brick
@@specialman6004 F-16's limiter in War Thunder is unfinished and I hope Gaijin fixes it soon. It can pull 11G at the deck with min fuel but can barely pull 8 G with max fuel above 4km altitude. Not being able to pull even 9 G at +4km is painful when the EJ Kai can sustain 12 G for an entire 90° turn.
They take 1.8 seconds to start tracking at all and 4.5 to fully "wake up", once I started focusing on firing them from far enough away to give them 5 seconds I started getting a lot more kills with them.

also about the missiles, i dont know which have this feature and which dont, but basically if a missile loses radar lock it just flies to the last calculated position, therefore if you keep moving forward you will fly right into its path
Thing i loved when i was using the f4e,hell 2 years ago when it was the f4e and the mig21 smt the f4e was king but even now in a down tier is slams,radar isnt great but my god everytime i loose lock the missile would 9-10 times still hit the target,in the f4j ir f14 they just turn hard in a different direction almost like its making it impossible for it to get anywhere near the enemy after it looses lock
I have buy the machine too grind my last top tier jets on Japan and i like the Phantom. The Plane is a Missle and Bomb Truck i kill many Basis with the Bombs and i make a loot of Money. For the Air VS Air Cpmbat i use my EJ Kai Phantom =D. The ADTW my first focus is Bomb the Base and then i try to make Air to Air Combat. And i like the EJ Kai so much i know is not agiel like an F-16 but i think is a good Plane.

I think its a decent way to grind the Japanese tree, vs the JASDF sabre There is still upgrade potential with the EJ Kai, and while the future additions are limited its worth grinding out if you do like China etc If you main USA or Russia then grinding Japan is less important
maybe buying the premium japanese sabre might make more sense for a slower, cheaper and slightly less painful grind that will buy you time until Japan gets the F-2 or something idk I'm talking out my ass rn i don't know how much it will take for the F-2 to be added or how much advanced it is to the F-16s right now
I played the tech tree variant when top tier was 11.3 and this thing was/is atrocious to play. The 9Ps are mid as mid and the 7Es dont really work. The radar is in fact, very mid and flight oerformance wise it is terrifyingly mid.
whats the keybind to make my radar do a little search circle that nabs the target in the scope like that? My only radar bind i know that locks a target is "Lock Radar/IRST on Target" and 99% of the time i hit it, it does nothing let alone lock on to the correct target
Oh you're talking about radar missiles. I deleted my other comment as I misunderstood and thought you meant lock on missiles in general. Your radar ones don't lock cause you need to use like 3 different keybinds for that. There's one that allows you to switch the radar modes. And one that let's you cycle through the targets displayed on your radar. You gotta cycle to the target you wanna fire at once they've shown on your radar and it will put that little green box around them. Then you still have to "lock air to air missile" on top of that and keep them locked on until the missile hits.
Um almost tempted to by this cause I love f4s, but considering my experience trying to spade the f4e I don't think I would want to buy this thing, I would rather wait for the f4e in dcs

The techtree version of this plane made me an even worst person then what the stock top tier MBT with heat fs did. So I bought the premium version of the plane since I want to grind the F-4EJ Kai faster and when another top tier plane gets added for Japan. Even the premium version makes me a worst person but it didn't break my SL. Only my ewallet. Now all I do is bomb 2 bases, insult Mig 29s that can't shoot down F-16s leaving it all to me in which I usually die. A Mig 29 and American F-16 attempted to bomb a base I was going for and I was infrount of both of them. They both tried to TK me but it didn't worked. So I sent two AIM-9Ps and tked both of them and now I am chat banned for 15 days since they both reported me because I was saying things about their mother's, insulting which country the both came from, spoke in Chinese, Bahasa and English all in one chat in there DM. I'm a very sane player due to top tier (:
This plane is bad. It always get uptiered against other much more capable jets. The Tornado IDS (German prem) is just superior in almost every way. No PD radar means the sparrows suck, and it doesn't have a front aspect IR to compensate for it. Essentially you're forced to kiss the ground, hope no one turns toward you (missiles track engines well), release your bombs, shoot some ground targets and in the unlikely event of you making it through all this, you can manage kill some unsuspecting targets

F-4J(UK) isn't moving, its the German F4F moving down which is fair since it doesn't have any sparrows and only 4 AIM-9Js

This is Japan, they have a F-104 without countermeasures and wing pylon AIM-9's (so x4 AIM-9P max) at that br.

This plane is bad. It always get uptiered against other much more capable jets. The Tornado IDS (German prem) is just superior in almost every way. No PD radar means the sparrows suck, and it doesn't have a front aspect IR to compensate for it.
Essentially you're forced to kiss the ground, hope no one turns toward you (missiles track engines well), release your bombs, shoot some ground targets and in the unlikely event of you making it through all this, you can manage kill some unsuspecting targets
I feel like the phantom is such a repetitive copy paste aircraft at this point.
