    When the removed historical matchmaking, the meta changed purely because you can face anybody now, this surely was a shock to the Germans when Japanese and Italians were no longer with them.

      Which is crazy because when US props (especially 5.7-6.3) are flown right, they absolutely dominate everyone. More specifically planes like the P51H, and F2G.
      The problem is, people don’t fly them right which is why the matchmaking changed.

      @@kingcamilo the meta is low altitude fighting so really it favors Russians the most. British and Japanese can hold their own due to maneuverability but high altitude fighters are the ones to struggle

    This was the first high end Bf-109 I ever played and boy was it rought at the start going from the G.55 to the BF-109, but over time I gained massive respect for it, shame to see it be on the low end of performence at its BR nowadays.

      In my experience, it is still one of the best 4.3s. I always do well with the G-2, so I really don’t know what the problem is. I mainly play USSR, so it probably helps that I both know how to deal with Yaks, and also use the G-2’s strengths to emulate what the high-end Yaks can do.

      @@martijn9568 Yeah, I’m usually above everyone or maintaining my speed well enough to be able to burst up if I need to dodge or engage something, and then dive out to safety, and depending on what I’m fighting, I’ll take them to about 500kmh to begin a rolling-scissors or vertical corkscrew reversal attempt. There’s only some aircraft that I don’t attempt to reverse or force to bleed energy in that way, and it’s basically just Japanese ones. Against Spitfires that strategy works better than one would think because of the Spitfire’s poor roll rate, and once we’re matching speed, I can use a vertical spiral to gain the advantage. Yaks also struggle against the vertical spiral depending on the altitude, and can be forced into bleeding too much energy off in rolling-scissors. P-47s are very good in rolling-scissors, but can be exploited other ways, and almost all the other American aircraft around 4.3, especially the XP-50, get dogged on in a high-speed rolling scissors.

      Although, I will say that planes like the G.55, Ki-61, and Pyorremyrsky are planes that take the better aspects of the Bf-109 and add onto them, ultimately being better and more flexible fighters overall.
      They're capable of the boom-n-zoom tactics the 109 excels at, but can perform higher maneuverability tactics if needed. Not to mention each plane has an armament that's either roughly equal to or superior to the 109 without sacrificing performance by having them in gun pods.

      A P-47 with a burning wing did keep with a 109 in a turning fight around a slag pile during Operation Boddenplatte. Hits to the engine seems a bit excessive but Gaijin needs to completely redo damage in air anyways.

      @@WatchMysh i would however i would have to give an entire lesson on finnish language because the word Pyörremyrsky has so many sounds english doesnt have. Itd be easier to just go to google translate or something and make the TTS pronounce it. Or ask chatgpt

    I'm a relatively new player and I thought I was crazy, all the old videos from content creators were talking about how good the G2 is and I was just constantly getting dicked on. G6 is much better imo plus the BR change is negligible. Everything 5.0 and above gets sucked into the ju288 spam at 6.0, so at 4.7 you always get downtiers

      yeah, the G6 has been my favorite bf109 varient for performance, besides the F2. the G6 just feels better in every way than the G2, and honestly every time i get in the G2 i get dicked on. But in the G6 i do relatively well, not to mention the 13mms match the velocity of the 20mms nicely, and the 13mms are way more useful than the 7.92s at that tier anyways. Sadly they did remove the tracer for the IAI belts, which really sucks, and is honestly kinda killing that plane for me now.

    The 20MM cannon change really hurt the G2, previously you could rely on just the one cannon and also engage planes from 700m+ with some degree of consistency. That was important when facing faster or more maneuverable planes to force overshoots and have longer firing windows.

      @@JPduclerc cannons got pretty much universally nerfed across several trees. I used to fold people in half with planes like the 109K4, F4U-4B, and R2Y2. Now I cannot guarantee a kill in a single pass with the same confidence as before because cannon damage basically got put into the dirt. Machine guns are unaffected for the most part. Some cannons you can get to feel okay-ish again by adjusting the belts but I haven't had any games where I felt confident in my damage output since the nerf.

      @@xSupra no disrespect here but mk108s have always been very bad in terms of velocity. Never ever enjoyed using them if I knew I couldn't entirely dictate the fight to hand myself a good firing solution on a silver platter. 500m/s out the barrel is just awful.

    I have extensively tested the G-2 and looked at its flightmodel files, it's the same as the G-2/trop despite the different statcard. It's fucking unbelievable how Gaijin gets away with selling shit like this.

      Don't bother using the stat cards for aircraft. Top speed is wrong on at least 25% of the planes while turn and climb is wrong on all of them. The G-2 has a very slight climb and turn improvement that is imperceptible without WTRTI and the G-2 has around a 10mph top speed difference. The performance differences are fairly minor. Still the G-2 is better than the G-2 trop.

      @@rainsilent If you go into the files, the only difference between the two planes is the fuselage minimum Cd of 0.0108 instead of 0.0121. It SHOULD also have more engine power - like the F-4 has over the F-4/trop, and that's what the stat card would lead you to believe, but it doesn't. If the fuselage minimum Cd makes a difference, it's utterly imperceptible, in my test both planes reached a straight line speed of 586km/h at 6km altitude with radiators open.

      @@The_Seeker The stat card? Why are you talking about the stat card? Don't bother looking at it. It is absolutely wrong on 2 of 3 metrics it highlights on every aircraft. The 3rd is wrong on at least 25% of them too.
      The F-4 and F-4 trop should have the same engine. The G-2 and G-2 trop should also have the same engine. The only reason for a power difference is because the air filter takes away some performance from the engine as it restricts airflow to the engine. Also the only aero difference should be the Cd of the fuselage because it is the exact same plane sans the air filter. This means that the only noticeable performance difference should be a top speed difference if you are aware of or educated in how aircraft work.
      Sure, the G-2 trop has more power than it technically should but it is still slower than the G-2 like it should be. The fact that the G-2 trop has the same power is largely inconsequential given that its performance relative to the G-2 is worse like it should be.

      ​@The Seeker You shouldn't be running BF-109s on open radiators as it causes insane amounts of drag. It is able to fly much faster, but only if you close the radiator.
      Gaijoob messed up 3D modeling the later BF-109s radiator cowlings. The rear cowlings should also open up (both the upper and the lower).

      I think too many people are stuck in the mentality that you have to grind for higher ranking planes to play the game 'right'.

    Man I really miss old AF AAA where it was still risky to approach it, but you weren't literally guaranteed to die if you got within 5km and could get away with a quick strafe if someone was camping the AF lmao.
    IIRC at first they just gigabuffed the main airfield AAA and you could still approach the forward airfield, but after coming back to the game after taking a break for a few years it looks like you can't even approach that, which cuts off a pretty significant portion of the map for maps with 2 airfields.

      But yeah, if you carry any rockets or bombs at all base AAA will shred you. Which really sucks in something like the T-2 which needs to take rockets to act as flares.

    The b109 g2 is in my top 3 planes of all time, really appreciate the upload. I think the finnish g2 might be slower than the premiums, the stat card shows 14kmh less faster than the premius but it climbs great.

      To expand on above the stat cards for aircraft are as useless as something could possibly get. Top speed is wrong on around 25% of the aircraft while turn and climb are wrong on 100% of them.

      ​@@rainsilent To be fair to Gaijin. The climb rates aren't always wrong, but they do require very specific conditions to replicate.
      The top speed is usually correct, but on some statcards it is indeed very wrong.

    you can use mec, leave the prop pitch and mixture on auto (cos the 109's have it) and just set the radiator to 30%, that allows me to basically have unlimited wep.

    Nice prop video, I find a lot of mistakes I make are not realizing a certain plane compresses hard above xspeed or just doing a slightly wrong maneuver. About how many hours in warthunder have you got?

      I suppose it doesn't hurt to test fly an airplane if you're unfamiliar with it. That way you can figure out things like compressions and max speeds before diving into the hangar during a match.

    Flying out the Bf-109s with the gondolas was often considered a noob move in the past. Sorry, but even before the 20mm got turned into a cotton ball launcher, I couldn't make it work well, 1 20mm simply doesn't have enough damage output. I get significantly better results with gondolas. I see that even the pros agree.

    I find that with MEC, the overheating problems go away super easily, it's a must on the 109s

      I'll admit I'm not familiar with the G-2 specifically but, while MEC isn't some silver bullet that'll magically solve all your performance issues, if it can make a Spitfire Mk I/II run cold with minimum performance loss it's absolutely something worth taking the time to learn, even if it's only for climbing purposes.

      MEC is really effective in the P47s making them able to perma WEP but ive never been able to have some semblence of cool temps in early Spits.

      Martijin is right you gotta lower your prop speed more and, another thing, you have to set your radiator to 0. Unless you're leaking or being very aggressive with your WEP (basically any moment you're not running hot you have it turned on) 9 out of 10 times you water will not be the issue but your oil which is only affected by throttle/prop pitch on the I and II, not radiator. Which means you can confidently set the radiator to 0 because the cooling on it is just that potent when combined with the lowered prop pitch.
      75 is not the number though, you want a 69 pitch (nice and no I'm not making that up 70 runs hot) on moderate temperature and cold maps, adjusting it upwards as your altitude increases like a pseudo supercharger starting at 5000m. I recommend "Air RB - Performance Guide - Master Thread” by MOBB on the forums which is basically a climbing cheat sheet of which some will carry over to dogfight MEC.

    Fact is early 109 are prone to roast itself in WEP even full open radiator.
    New airframe like G6 and beyond don't suffer this issue.

      This is the Hungarian Bf 109 G-2, a 4.3 plane, I think you're talking about the Hungarian Bf 109 F-4 in the battle pass which is 4.0

    Btw if you have or can get access to the J6K some time, it has been triple buffed and is now back to the acceleration / climbrate it had on introduction while keeping the insane agility.
    Absolute beast since the prop efficiency was finally fixed 3 weeks ago.

      He shells just explode most the time on the plane doing 0 damage, armoured belts I have found to be the most reliable
      Just look at the belts and see whatever has the least HE in the full belt changes by plane but almost any round is better than explosive shells at the momemt

    Hey man, I know you don't like bombers, but if you want some change of pace in gameplay you could take the bv 138. It has 2 mg151's at 1.7 it's kinda nuts you can hunt everything with its airspawn

    That P-47 at the end really lived up to those durability claims. But really it's that overheating that makes me not want to fly the 109s for the most part anymore. It just becomes unmanageable after a certain point unless you land. Sure later ones get better with that but there are so many less stressful aircraft to fly than the 109s, like the Yaks for instance.

      p47 durability doesn't necessarily mean it also has to keep it's performance. Gaijin interprets p47 as an empty body, when in real life it's body was the whole turbo. Being hit in the body reduced your horsepower drastically.

      @@kingghidorah8106 You would be surprised to know that the power loss at low altitude is negligible. That turbo is only efficient at high altitude, or at very least more than 7000 feet. Below that you really can't run it to it's max rating as the denser air would create higher manifold pressures and you would blow the engine. Yes it should be modelled, but in this fight it wouldn't have been a difference. Fun fact, the P-47 still had an integrated single speed supercharger. The turbo was there for high alt work. This means that any damage to the turbo system at low altitude would just mean you can't go up high anymore but you would practically be just as fast as you were without the damage at low altitude.

      @@kingghidorah8106 Id say they do a decent job considering the sheer number of vehicles they put into the game. Sure they arent 100% accurate but most I'd say are around 90%, and that is really good enough to have decent gameplay damage wise. If you want greater realism, you go to things like IL-2 or DCS where they model things to a much higher level of detail and accuracy, as well as function. Oh and absolutely no cockpit placeholders. XD

    I thought the G2 was more manouverable than the F4. I only played a couple of dozen games in the G2 so it may be just luck or skill difference vs newer players, but the agility seemed noticeably better vs the F4

      @@kommandantkillcode If we take into account WT not real life. In WT G2 turns a little bit worse in both rate and radius.
      Im belive you can outrate F4 in RB because guys WEP all the time and your G2 have still relative cooled engine vs their overheated. And if they not use manual engine probably have full open radiators when you have closed = better acceleration = better turn performance.

      @@mateuszpanasiuk9301 I actually don’t WEP all the time because it destroys the BF-109’s engines and heavily limits their power output even if I make sure to throttle down after the engine temps go to orange or red. I’ve learned that mechanic exists after flying the Yaks which overheat and noticed that the longer the match went, even at 98% throttle, the worse and worse the planes would get despite the lower fuel levels. Then I tried similar things in other planes, and watched other people fly them, and am confident that the majority of piston aircraft in the game all have that issue, to varying degrees. The Bearcats are some of the worst in that regard, and the I-185s and Las seem to be some of the best.

      ​@@kommandantkillcode Yeah, Gaijin has modeled timers for each power setting. Flying at max continuous power setting should help you regain those timers, but that's often a power setting below 100%.
      As for the Bearcat I don't know if Gaijin has actually specified those timers, but if you look at an F8F's performance manual you will see that it is rather limited in continuous power output.

    This plane used to be an absolute legend. Now it's as defyn said, mid. The overheating is atrocious. And you'll most likely need gun pods to kill quicker. Still a plane forever remembered

    The J2M2 outclimbs everything in its B.R but not faster than the germans (at 4k+ alt.) and US (all alt.), u can always force the brits or italians to turnfight u bcs u have the same speed and if not slightly faster than them. As for the G2s now, I do think the F4s does anything better than G2s at all alt. except the cooling system 😂.

    Big problem I think is just the He nerfs affecting single cannon bf-109 balance very very badly.Sure yaks too had terrible gun performance but that was a plane was able to keep up a sustained dogfight. But 109's are a bit of a pickle in 2-3 turns without energy. And their only getting a shot off opportunity was the Mine shell single 20-30mm to do some damage. Now with that nerfed all you have now is a worse hispano+2 7.92 mg's. Against P-51's,Yaks P-47's or even bombers that is Tier-1 Level of firepower. Compared to He-112's, Buffalos and Laggs :D. Or better F-4 ,Or even better Emiil Series 109's with 2 20mm MG/FF's. They can still climb as a gunpod g2, Have high alt boost. And they are much more nimble with much lower BR. So why bother with G-2 or even G-6?

      well considering J2M2s can cancel out XP-50s at altitude if flown right, I think they just don't belong in this BR bracket. having a climbrate that rivals the K-4 at 4.3 while being 3 times more nimble is just bullshit

      The only trick in the book against a J2M is going fast since they compress hard . Usually I've had better experience with the A5/U2 before the elevator got turned into a steaming pile of garbage in the recent patch . In the 109 or a 190 the fight against a J2M requires massive brain play

      Well flown XP-50s are easier to deal with than well flown J2M2s. XP-50s are only a pain in the ass because they have an air spawn. Remove the air spawn and they are above average performers for the BR. The J2M2 is at least a 5.0 plane.

      Exactly, there aren't even Italian 109 G-2s... the only Italian 109 is the G-14 AS with... massive Italian flags on them. This is obviously a Hungarian 109.

    sr. i do enjoy your vids, mainly the editting, you are a solid player, most youtubbers have trillions of silver lions and a nice handfull of eagles, they show us a 10 min vid with 30 matches until they show whats about to pilot some veichle, you simply dont do it. my respect to you, in the 8 years i play this game i've meet some real big youtubers old school youtubers, i killed every single one of those fkers some i rammed just for fun...if i ever dogfiht you. i will fight back, but knwing that i have to show some respect. hope to never see you around the match but if so...i hope you'll be on my team. my respect to the one i think is the best of the best wt youtubers out there. see you in the skies. god bless you!
