This is emblematic of why I miss Dave nightly. Dave loves music and KNOWS music. When he loved a band or a performer he had on the show, he SHOWED it. He wasn't a cheerleader for any band who appeared, he didn't calmly say "The National, everybody." Example: When The New Pornographers performed, he walked over under the cheers and said "How are you, Neko?" He KNEW. So for him to know immediately The National's new album and its lead singer by name, it's the personal connection that I don't think anyone on late night has, or has had... I just love this.

Slade: an influence on bands from The Ramones to Nirvana, charting 17 Top 20 hits in a 6-year span in the UK, 6 of those songs reaching #1. But they weren't popular in America, so they won't be in the Hall of Fame.
The Tragically Hip had 9 #1 albums in Canada and are absolute legends north of the border. But they weren't popular in America, so they won't be in the Hall of Fame.

My personal disbelief and now resignation that he will never be acknowledged is Peter Frampton. I actually would have assumed Warren was in. It just goes to document how dishonorable the process and the responsible parties have become. I hope Frampton sees being ignored as a badge of honor considering how Warren as so many others are treated with the same shameful disregard. ☮️

I donated money to build the place. Now I will not go anywhere near it. No Warren,No Iron Maiden or Soundgarden. But George Michael and Missy Elliot were inducted? If they want a rap,hip-hop or pop hall of fame start one. That is not rock and roll period. Don't waste your time going people. Like the late great concert promoter Barry Fey from Denver told me before he died. When I asked him why he was getting out he told me. Dave it is no longer the music business it is the business of music and I can't live like that.

ELP, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, BOC .... Warren is in good company. Anyone who saw the bands in this list in the '70's knows what a joke this RRHOF stuff is.

Wow! Warren Zevon & Paul Shaffer should have been in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame because they have made great music over the years. What on Earth is wrong with some people? Dave is right!

I'm working on my final chapter and I'll be rocking to the end. If Warren turns out to be the last artist I listen to on the way out, I can live with that. Or not. F--- the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Literally the whole point of most of zevons music was to make you scared so the fact that was one of the reasons he didn’t get in combined with the fact you couldn’t apparently dance to his music shows me how screwed the rock and roll hall of fame has gotten especially if the only music they’ll let in is new pop stuff that isn’t even rock and roll

The way I see it, Warren??? Lauper??? She changed a whole generation with her music. Maybe they’re both too controversial.

Warren Zevon was a great writer and I am a fan.
With that said; Warren Zevon was never crazy popular like his peers. His album sales were historically low.
Zevon is a cult classical artist.
As painful as it is to admit; popularity always overshadows merit.
Thats why you have rap artists in the Rock Hall. Makes no sense.

Pearl Jam doesn’t deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Warren Zevon.

    • @kevstreet

This is silly. Pearl Jam’s catalog dwarfs Zevon’s.
But I will admit “Keep Me In Your Heart” is about the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
