M/S of Southdown Leyland Tiger bus. It looks like real thing until small toddler walks up and we realise it is a scale model. The builder of bus, Ernest Johnstone, lifts the toddler into the bus through the roof. He sits behind the toddler with his head sticking out. Wonderful to see this film. My Dad made the bodywork for several of these miniatures when he was an apprentice at Harringtons in Hove. I've never seen Mr Johnstone before, and so lovely to see the little coach in action.
I remember these so clearly, 70+ years ago, at Brighton at what I think was called Peter Pan's Playground. There was a circuit for them there and I'm sure that the earliest ones were modelled after Southdown's pre-war Leyland Tigers, TS7 or 8. Then came PS1 Tigers like the one shown, followed by models of either Royal Tigers or Tiger Cubs, neither of which I liked so much as they didn't have a proper "face". I remember seeing one at a Cobham Bus Museum open day years ago and of course, my daughters rode in it.

There's no record of HUF16 on the DVLA website so it's either been scrapped or was placed into a collection and has been off road since the late 1970s.
