The scene in DAIMAJIN with the puppet, said puppet was not motorized, it was manipulated by an off-screen puppeteer. Really impressive visual effects work, overall, by Yasuyuki Kuroda, who soon became a short-lived director in his own right. Unfortunately, he was mostly relegated to television after Daiei's bankruptcy, although he did direct the final Toho-Katsu Productions entry in the LONE WOLF & CUB film series in 1974.
I'm glad you enjoyed Daimajin. I managed to watch it for the first time just a couple years back and I was really impressed by all of it. I do think that it deserves to be more widespread than what it currently is.
Another great binge video with some pretty interesting insights I hadn't noticed before. That Daimajin shot really was effective. Great catch!

Always good stuff. It's good to see Kaiju channels with real quality content and brains behind them. You're wrong about Kong though. While treatment of the locals, and the fact that Anne being white and blonde implicitly makes her special ARE problematic, any racial subtext involving Kong himself are purely in the eye of the beholder.
