17:35 They have a grill inside. Was broke down there last year. You walk in to the Baskins Robbins and they have a menu on the counter that you order off of. Lady hooked me up with a darn good burger and onion rings!
👍 We should all support the small businesses like mom and pops truck stops, because all O/O are part of that small business and the community. Good video 👍
Nice video Dan! Your a professional. I think there is big percentage of truckers that turn these truck stops to crap. Eventually ownership can't keep up with wear and tear + the damages.
Just so you know there’s a lot of the small truck stops if you buy 50 gallons or more sometimes they’ll give you free food you’ll just have to ask if they do anything for a certain fuel amount.
I absolutely refuse to shop at Walmart, sheets and other big stores. I'm very very loyal to my small mom and pops stores. They deserve to be remembered... after all they are what built America.
Never been to Joplin, MO, or the Mafia Chrome Shop, but have been to many parts of the Show-Me State. You travel in the STL / Metro East Area in Granite City.
Dan I remember the old truck stops where they had real restaurants and service departments. Most were of the ones I used running Midwest to California and the Northwest were small independently own.
You are so right about the chain truck stops, they need some maintenance. Just the smell in the parking areas is horrendous! Some drivers need to get some manners about themselves.
Love Mom and Pop truck stops. You will find some good food at many of them in the right area. Yea, many truck stop maintenance programs are not doing their job. Everything is busted or don't work right. Kiosk, DEF handles will not work right, no squeegee or broke, no window cleaner in buckets. Pitiful.
I love stopping at that fuel station there in Oklahoma. I seen you and Bailey sitting there today as I was heading to OKC. You are the first driver RUclipsr that I follow out on the road. Safe travels to you and your little girl!
The name of the town is Muldrow Ok. My mother lives there and my trucking business is registered there. That truck stop is brand new ... only been open about a year. That was a big deal around town when that opened!!
I couldn't agree with you more Dan regarding truck stops. I was running a flat bed about a year ago, did it for a few months, trying to find a clean servicable truck stop to refresh yourself anymore is becoming a job in itself. People just have no appreciation or pride in their work, If an employer would praise their employees with a pat on the back, a hand shake and a big thank you daily, thinkgs would be alot different, I chock it up to Corporations and bean counters are only concerned with their own gain, just my two cents, what do I know?!?...lol😏👍
Living on the east coast we had a small chain of trucks tops called WilcoHess. They were small truck stops with souniver shops called Stuckey's. Stuckey's sold candy, salt water taffey, pecan log rolls, etc. Each WilcoHess had a small parking lot which was never full and a fast food restaurant located on site. I could always find parking late at night. When Pilot Flying J bought WilcoHess the truck stops immediately began filling up early every night. Too bad.
i use to keep a log of every place i stopped, shipper, receiver, fuel stops, rest areas, and left little comments for each, good, bad, whatever. think i had like 5 or 6 of them. wish id kept them, wanted to put up a map of the US and put pins for every stop. something to do in my retirement, lol
Love your video's oh ya when u unloaded there was a man on a fork lift that got some beside your truck off the ground on driver side it was big a square an put in his back pocket did you miss anything funny how he came up an got it have a great safe day
I saw your truck at the Petro in Joplin, MO. I took some pics of your truck, I was hoping to meet you, but I saw soapy water coming out from under your truck, I assumed you were taking a shower. Hopefully, we'll meet one day, and thanks for being an inspiration for me and other drivers. God bless you.
The comments on here about two log books reminds me of the MASH episode where Frank Burns is dictating his will to Father Mulcahy. Frank is suffering from a fever and talks about his financial ledger books. The Red one, and the Blue one he says he shows the government. Lol.
I remember how we filled them out, because I kept two logbooks going at all times. One of them of course was a special one to show the DOT guy when I got stopped LOL. Couldn’t get away with that now I suppose. BTW I love your outside cameras, because I can hear that CAT purring. Sounds beautiful.
To confirm for you Dan, Arkansas still has a ton of dry counties! So you were right in the money about the liquor stores! Be safe out there! If you get a minute check us out in here!
I agree Dan, the Blackwell TS was nice when it opened...and yes you are near a dry county. I live in Conway, and its dry, no stores but they do allow alcohol at some restaurants if you jump the hoops. Stay safe!!
I'm a new driver doing OTR in the eastern 37 and a lot of the Pilots are in just as bad a shape as a lot of the little gas 'n' sips out there. Really goes to show how difficult it is to maintain these facilities. What's even more sad is the prevailing feeling among the staff at a lot of these mom-and-pop shops that their days are numbered. I try to stop at them often and I always spend money when I do. They're invaluable.
Appreciate the video! Have you ever thought about taking the pass seat out and making Bailey a more comfortable seating arrangement? As good as you are with that kind of stuff she’d be sitting like a Princess. And yes I live in a “dry county”. Lol.
It always cracked me up how New Hampshire does it. I guess in NH only the state sells liquor, and at the border crossing theres this big rest area and NH State liquor store. I'd see people in there with shopping carts full of liquor
I pay extra at the smaller places just to avoid the chains. As long as they take comdata I'm good. And often they aren't biodiesel. So you kinda get your extra money back with a better quality of life, time, fuel economy, and fewer filter changes.
Good video dan. The truck stop guide is a great tool. Always has been. But....I used to be able to read it easier. Is the print smaller or are my eyes getting worse? Nah, can't be that. I think the elog regs helped kill the small truck stops. If every little stop didn't eat up my time, I'd definitely stop for a real sit down meal at cafes, restaurants instead of the chains more often. It's a big reason there isn't the camaraderie anymore. No time to sit, chat and make a friend. Go go go
I moved to the country years ago and they built a loves of the expressway. Soon after it opened I moved back to the suburbs couldn’t take country living and when I left the loves had pretty much put the two locally owned stations out of business. Last week I drove through that town for work and one of the local stations is closed and the other looks like it isn’t far behind. But be Ouse it was lunch time I had to stop at the loves and get some McDonald’s and I was shocked to see what a 8 years old loves looks like. The place was so dirty and run down I decided Chips and a coke was a safer bet than anything prepared anywhere near there
Build Bailey a little plywood platform that goes over the front seat and has legs that reach to the floor up to the dashboard. Cover it and and put a cushion up there!
Enjoyed this video Dan. I used to run 40 a lot and funny Blackwell was one of quiet spots I'd park at. Running Midwest Regional now from home in Wisconsin last couple of years so was nice to see some places on 40 I used to travel That Loves at Webbers Falls is always a mess. I'm a lot like you I try and avoid big chain truck stops Never park in them, in and out for fuel and a shower and gone Safe travels
Dan is a super honest guy and Bailey is so cute 🥰 You want to try the truck stops in the uk as they’re the pits 😮Stay safe buddy and God bless you 🏴
Ten there were state run 'Package stores' for the hard stuff (Grocery sold Beer & Wine) when I was Stationed in Norfolk VA. A place I went into had this gorgeous bar with no one at it. When I asked, 'You can only have/sit a bar, if you sold just beer or wine. Also you can't carry your own drink if you join another table, the staff has to carry it.
South in general is still riddled with dry counties, even blue laws. Oh well all the counties around them thank them for the extra tax revenue. I remember working in a grocery store in the 90's, we had a younger couple trying to buy beer on Sunday. They were shocked to find out we couldn't sell it to them.
Dan, in your travels, which state(s) generally has the best roads in terms of upkeep and condition? I’ve always assumed roads in southern states would be in better condition because they wouldn’t have to apply as much salt as northern states in the winter, but perhaps that has little to no impact?😊
UK roads are suffering the same as yours. Our diesel is around $6.0 a US.gallon. All the M&P stops wer taken by big business who charge you to park (If they allow trucks in at all).
Hi Dan you have awesome video footage one of the best footage why because of the footage driving down the interstates and in though the woods have a great day and a great week ahead 👍👍👍
I always did like independently owned truck stops, when I drove some had good restaurants, also I no longer drive trucks anymore am retired but even on family’s vacations etc I always had one and still do, best five bucks you can spend. Stay safe out there.
My truck was darker blue and I didn’t like anyplace with all that dust, also didn’t like the huge truck stops. Sometimes it got difficult to land at a decent place. It caused a problem from time to time because I found myself really tired and no place to park. As you remember, we were kinda “Loose” with our logbook entries. I don’t think I could conform to the rigid rules today, or maybe I should say “Rules enforcement “ today. Enjoy riding with you!
Hi Dan, I live in Pottsville, which is about 13 miles west of Blackwell. Pottsville is in Pope County, which is dry. There are some ways around that though. Several of the restaurants in Russellville serve alcohol by the drink. I first thought you were talking about stopping at the stop in Ozark. I don't drive a truck, but stop there frequently. I hope it doesn't go down hill like the one in Blackwell has.
Dan your right near Crowford County it's a dry County it's known from back in the day as Moon shine County up in the mountains, there's a big story of that I don't doubt if they still don't make it there the Hillbillies.
Bailey really pays attention when you talk. I think she understands what you are saying! Sorry Dan, Bailey is the star of your videos.
A true best friend.
@@ericrohani199 Yup, every dog has to have one.
Damn, that’s awesome. Supporting local businesses that are struggling to stay alive. I wish more people thought like you did.
Bailey has to be the sweetest trucker dog ever. I think she likes the Ma & Pa places too.
You always feel more welcome at truck stops like that, they appreciate the business.
I saw you going east on 40 Tuesday morning around Morrilton Ark
17:35 They have a grill inside. Was broke down there last year. You walk in to the Baskins Robbins and they have a menu on the counter that you order off of. Lady hooked me up with a darn good burger and onion rings!
Yes, support the truck stops you like before they can't make it and are gone.
👍 We should all support the small businesses like mom and pops truck stops, because all O/O are part of that small business and the community. Good video 👍
Thank you all!
I used to enjoy the Mom & Pop businesses, now there is so much disconnect with folks, it is like we are all strangers.
Nice video Dan! Your a professional. I think there is big percentage of truckers that turn these truck stops to crap. Eventually ownership can't keep up with wear and tear + the damages.
Thanks Dan. Always grateful for you taking us along for the ride. Safe travels.
Haha, 2 log books back in the day. 1 for my dispatch and 1 for the cops.
Dorsey trailers for all your trailer needs Dorsey trailers
Would love to see more mom and pop truckstops😎
The small truck stops has the best food compared to the regular smegular food you get at the Chain truck stops . And people always friendly.
I like your idea of supporting the smaller truck stops.
Love ❤Miss Bailey. Give her a hug, smooches, & scratches behind both ears. Sabbear recognizes the word ‘Treat’ &’Lets Eat’ pretty good.
I agree.,....I couldn't do paper now if I tried. Pretty sad cause I use to always have 2 books. Times sure have changed. Safe travels.
Oak Grove is no longer with I80 truckstop chain.
Never been to Joplin, MO, or the Mafia Chrome Shop, but have been to many parts of the Show-Me State. You travel in the STL / Metro East Area in Granite City.
Great vlog...Great to help the little companies out!
Back in the bad old days we used to call our paper logs
Swindle Sheets.
!
First time I watched your videos but gotta say any trucker with a dog gets my thumbs up👍.
I really like the safety bucket hat.
Thanks Dan for what you guys do. Without you guys , this country would come to a halt. Always follow your program 😊
Dan I would say that is finesse at its finest. You and Bailey be safe out there on the road keeps the big girl between the dishes.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Dan I remember the old truck stops where they had real restaurants and service departments. Most were of the ones I used running Midwest to California and the Northwest were small independently own.
Thanks for replyig to my previous comment Dan.!!
n
Arkansas does as alot of dry County I was born and raised in Arkansas and live in Arkansas for 21 years
Support the Little Guy Truck Stop----You gain in Well-Maintained Equipment and Cleanliness ---Compared to your dollar or so more in fuel 👍
Another good one Dan KEEP ON TRUCKIN 👍 🇺🇲 🚛 🐘 👌

Hello from Brisbane, Australia. Another quality video. Take care. You and Bailey stay safe.
Love your video's oh ya when u unloaded there was a man on a fork lift that got some beside your truck off the ground on driver side it was big a square an put in his back pocket did you miss anything funny how he came up an got it have a great safe day
I was wondering the same thing
Limestone county here in Alabama is dry. When I first moved here you couldn't even buy alcohol on Sundays.
Like the book too.
Teresa must be tracking your phone. Knows you puled into a truck stop, eh? lol
Smooth Operator.
Hi, you should come drive a truck here in Australia 🇦🇺 and compare the roads to America. There rough here.
I used to love stopping at mom and pop truck stops. I always had paper back up for maps and finding truck stops.
The comments on here about two log books reminds me of the MASH episode where Frank Burns is dictating his will to Father Mulcahy. Frank is suffering from a fever and talks about his financial ledger books. The Red one, and the Blue one he says he shows the government. Lol.

My father always said the old 76 trucks stops used to be the. 💩
Yes they were nice.
To confirm for you Dan, Arkansas still has a ton of dry counties! So you were right in the money about the liquor stores!

If you get a minute check us out in here!
i wonder if the little truck stops are not biodiesel, sure like bailey.
I agree Dan, the Blackwell TS was nice when it opened...and yes you are near a dry county. I live in Conway, and its dry, no stores but they do allow alcohol at some restaurants if you jump the hoops. Stay safe!!
Yes Pope County Ark. is a dry county, you were just across the line in Conway County at the small truck stop.
I'm a new driver doing OTR in the eastern 37 and a lot of the Pilots are in just as bad a shape as a lot of the little gas 'n' sips out there. A dry county is wetter than most wet counties
Appreciate the video! Have you ever thought about taking the pass seat out and making Bailey a more comfortable seating arrangement? As good as you are with that kind of stuff she’d be sitting like a Princess. And yes I live in a “dry county”. Lol.
the two guys standing in the load dock were both wondering if super Dan could back up😮
Talking about dry counties, I find it interesting that Jack Daniels is produced in a dry county in Tennessee
It always cracked me up how New Hampshire does it. I guess in NH only the state sells liquor, and at the border crossing theres this big rest area and NH State liquor store. I'd see people in there with shopping carts full of liquor
New Hampshire is one of seven states without a state income tax so they make up for revenue somehow by selling alcohol and fireworks
Last time I drove NH I was surprised about the direct exits to liquor stores off the tollway .
Bailey is the Boss...Great companion... I had a corgi mix... smartest dog I have ever had
I pay extra at the smaller places just to avoid the chains. As long as they take comdata I'm good. And often they aren't biodiesel. So you kinda get your extra money back with a better quality of life, time, fuel economy, and fewer filter changes.

That Love’s has always been a pain even back in the 90’s and then in the early 2000’s when the barge knocked the 40 bridge out
Travel safe, Dan!!!
Stay safe out there Super Trucker Dan
Gr8 Vid Mr DAN!!!!!!!!
Nice video!
Build Bailey a little plywood platform that goes over the front seat and has legs that reach to the floor up to the dashboard. Cover it and and put a cushion up there!
Yes, that's a county line between a dry and a wet county.
Thanks Dan
The town next to mine is dry , there are liquor stores right over the line on all sides.
A mono rail Crane. Those are always fun to unload heavy oiled up stuff
HELLO DAN GREAT VIDEO ! BEAUTIFUL RIDE TO DAY ! BAILEY IS SO CUTE ! BE BLESSED STAY SAFE ! ✊👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Enjoyed this video Dan. I used to run 40 a lot and funny Blackwell was one of quiet spots I'd park at.

So what did the guy on the forklift grab that was sitting next to your truck and put in his pocket?
I seen that too
Dan is a super honest guy and Bailey is so cute 🥰 You want to try the truck stops in the uk as they’re the pits 😮Stay safe buddy and God bless you 🏴
his dog watches him keep talking to somebody? But there is no one there?
great idea support the mom and pop that is where I like to park Pot Holes and all
I wonder what that tubing is used for.

Yep, Arkansas does indeed have wet/dry counties. Just as you said, there are typically many liquor stores at the county line.

You wore a hard hat! Great! Hard to believe the lift operation wasn’t wearing a hard hat
Welcome to Murica, safety in general is laughed at.
Ha I just loaded out of Tulsa!

Dislike getting gravel all over the tarps while folding up & back in storage .
Thanks for the reply
