I know these jobs can be really frustrating I've done this many times but in the end you'll have a really nice boat when you're using it and you win your hitting those waves you know that you have a good solid bone underneath you don't keep track of your time you'll get discouraged and you'll find out that you're never make any money so just do it for the love of the boat
It will be a great family/fishing boat when it’s all done hopefully! My boys will love it!

Have a look at frisco boater, jmink , and luke barry builds and you see there is plenty of life left in your boat. They have all tackled a gut right down in slighty different ways. Just takes time thats all.

Maybe you can rig up 3 supporting beams over the length of the flat part of the hull, one under the keel and two under the sides, to carry the weight. that will be plenty of rigidity overall to rip out everything at once and do all the work in one go! Don't forget; lots of boats are made that way, they are pulled from the mould and only after that they are cored.
That is true but my thing is the cabin is heavy to and the trailer help spread out the weight too! We shall see!

Phoenix. The best thing about fiberglass is if you need to make holes to fix the board to the hull, the screw holes can be filled after glue has set and the screws have been removed. At worst it is a great learning experience (for all of us) at best you get the boat you wanted. win win.

Good morning, sorry for my rusty English, I'm HAM (PU7KCG) and I speak more than I write. A project of this magnitude: requires: patience, a lot of dedication, the necessary tools and money. From the videos you've already made, your competence and determination is undeniable, and I really hope you get it right. About the project, it can be seen in the video, that after having cut the stringers, there was still rotten wood from the stringers attached to the hull…!!!! Mine experience with boats, it boils down to having a captain's license for sailing boats and motor launches. I'm not the ideal person to give technical advice about your work. But from what I saw, I consider you whit skills and competent. Go ahead and do your best. One of the many good lessons I've seen in your videos was the experience and teaching you gave to all viewers. Continue with determination, mentally visualize what you want and you will certainly reach a successful port. May GOD bless you and your house,

You are ambitious! I have a 1990 24ft Olympic that has a little dry rot that I wasn't sure I want to tackle. But after watching you might just have to get started. I'm seeing less and less Olympics on the water here in Washington and it warms my heart to see you going to make this one a survivor.
Olympics are my favorite boat and hate seeing one go to waste! Once you replace with good material, it will last forever! Love to see it!

Great presentation ,great work, great boat. I've own a 1989 26' Olympic since 2001. I'm in Nor Cal. Bought boat in Olympia. Still fishing Salmon, Albi's , rocks and crab. Great boat on the water. Enclosed cabin is a blessing. We get lots of compliments on our Olympic from other sport fishers. Keep up the good work.

@@LindellAdventures Hi. My boat is not the XL model. It has the longer rear deck with seats/fish boxes on either side of the cabin door aft. I did repower with a 5.7 L Merc Mpi Horizon and bravo 3 drive. Your plan of offshore bracket is a good one, freeing up deck space for your crew. My boats name is Seawolf but was formerly named Tumwater out of Olympia. Mark P.

When you started this I thought you were going overboard on what you wanted to do. I also thought about mission creep and how these projects either get out of hand or you find more issues than you thought you would. That has all come to pass and the emotional roller coaster has been intense to watch. I root for every one of your videos as you are doing what most of us would want to try but would have long since given up. Two thumbs up! YOUR DOING IT! Absolutely love watching this project!!! Can't wait to see this when it is all done. Small bites of the elephant....

Glad your moving forward with the project. Having done this myself I know the work involved. I left a little bit of the stringer fibreglass so I could used it as a mold for the new stringers location. The original steel tank from my boat had just a little bit of rust on the bottom... I went to a big plastic tank right away. I am not sure of the original fuel tank capacity for that boat, but now is an ideal time to research and find a plastic tank that will fit in the space. I live on Vancouver Island and you can never have too much fuel for fishing in remote areas. Keep up the good work. Cheers
I have been looking for my size tank or a little larger and it’s hard since mine is rectangle and not hull shaped 🙄

Your boat looking goood.. I hope although expensive you do the stringers out of coosa board ....as well............ your grandchildren wont have to worry about the stringers and transom....
Everything will be replaced with Coosa or a composite material to never have to worry about rotten materials ever again. Coosa is for sure going in the stringers place!

Olympic isn’t around anymore but it’s not their fault, it’s the previous owners neglect that cause these issue. Lots of holes under the water line not sealed up was the issue and sitting outside. Time for new life 👍

Honestly, didn’t you feel great cutting all those crappy stringers out of the boat! Sweeping up all the debris, and getting a good look at what you need to do. Good for you. Keep at it.

Are you using a flapper disc to grind glass

Balsa wood coring between fiberglass sheets seems like a bad and dumb design, I thought most boats were straight glass and gelcoat?
Balsa coring is actually a good material and can help with performance. Most people don’t like it because if it is not installed correctly (sealed) then it fails and holds water. That increases the weight of the boat and a chance for mold depending on water application and use of the boat. I will most likely use balsa coring again or closed cell foam but there is drawbacks with each way and also straight fiberglass. Just what I have learned.
As fellow ytber to another please lower the sound for the actual work footage. The saw almost killed me ears. Cheers keep going!
