Spade roasting celebrities on the Hollywood Mintue during Weekend Update was an absolute highlight of SNL. I always looked forward to it as a teenager. It's David Spade's best material as a comic, making fun of those in the entertainment industry with his sarcastic wit. As things got more and more PC he could do less and less of it.
Not really. Pc had nothing to do with it it was Eddie Murphy and before him other thin skin celebrities that wouldn't do the show if they were mocked. Political correctness that everyone loves to blame for everything wasn't even a thing back then for quite some time. It was lame asses in the industry that couldn't take spade. It's sort of in his book. Mostly Eddie tho lol.
I remember seeing all of these when they first aired. A+ nostalgia - I waited countless years for NBC to post them on the net! Makes sense to post them all for free, to remind people that the show used to own the comedy world.
There is NO ONE I'd rather have a beer with when I was in my 20's than Spade...he just seems like if you were hanging at a bar with him and he was a buddy, he'd make you vomit you'd laugh so much...he's got SERIOUS comedy chops. Love it.
@@samanthab1923 I agree, if you read the book about Saturday night live Chevy said some awful things to a cast member when he hosted during the 85-86 season and apparently when he hosted in 1997 he was a total asshole because will Ferrell can’t stand him and there was the fight he had with bill Murray
STP amazing band, but their first album felt a touch derivative, and I’m speaking as a person who was in high school in the 90s. Fortunately, they found their unique sound. Unfortunately, Scott Weiland found heroin.
It blows my mind that Meteor Man (a movie I really liked) cost about $60m to make. Absolutely no one would watch and think "This definitely cost $60m to make".
David was right about Stone Temple Pilots, they were the first of the "Copycat Grunge Bands" that were signed by major labels to capitalize on the new cool hip Seattle sound. Soon after Bush, Silverchair, Days Of The New, Nickelback followed.
STP were a lot better than those bands. Their first album sounds a bit like some of the Seattle bands, but it's still great. They developed a more individual sound after that, though.
@@DPMusicStudio haha you said it. Once a year Adam Sandler rouses you to get up and go to Hawaii and shoot a movie for a couple of months. What could be better
“Robin Hood: Men In Tights” and “Weekend at Berries” were/are great movies. They were so great, that I took the time to put in the correct grammar marks to display my appreciation for them.
My fav from this is: a graphic of Whitney n Michael n Spade exclaims: Houston We Have a Problem..I k I k bad taste after losing her..she just wanted to dance with somebody..and she'd always love u..dolly too👍🤔🎾
Everyone made fun of Kate Moss for being skinny. Little did they know that decades later you’d be swimming in morbidly obese people, and you’re not allowed to make fun of them.
loved these segments, and no, we did not all love "white wedding", the racist connotations aside. a favorite of white nationalists, then there's "great white", wtf is THAT all about?!
This is the 4th one of these I’ve seen today. On a binge
Yup me 2
Me 3 haha. Never watched any of these when they aired. I missed out🥺
Me 4

They did post them close to 8 years ago, though lol
Dude exactly!

Youd meet hotties too as his wingman.
then Farley comes in the room, does a cartwheel, and slow dances with the waitress
I thought for sure you were going to say,if you were hanging out in a bar with him, you were gonna get your ass kicked.
Spade was a beast back then🤣
Still great! Watch the clip from Fallon. He talks to Questlove about secret Black Apps!
I never knew David Spade was borderline cute
labanya datta omg I thought I was the only one
Borderline ??? Girl he’s fine even now he’s still fine 😫😂
borderline??? girl...
What’s on the other side of that border?
He always dated cute girls. His daughters mom was a Playboy bunny.
Skipper to Homer to Depp to Shaggy was a thing of beauty
“Deeerp....Dohhhhh....Deeeeerp.......Depp.....Zoikes!”.
I remember laughing my ass off at the Homer/Skipper bit when I was a kid. My friend and I would always recite that bit in school.
Gotta give him credit spade doing a Chevy chase joke on snl takes some guts
Yeah, and it didn't result in an Eddie Murphy type situation.
@@mattgelfer i’d run that by Dan Harmon
@@TheChupacabra hahahaha true that
I don't think there is any love loss between SNL & Chevy. He left after one year.

STP rocks
@Steve Joens agreed. A joke made into more by idiot critics. Great band...as is pearl jam.
I like Stone Temple Pilots too. I also find they sound different than Pearl Jam.
It's not so much the band but the frontman. I always got the feeling he tried to hard to be a "rock star". Sometimes Bowie, other times Morrison.

@@thearchivist250 Core is still great, though.
And Katie Couric still has not stopped smiling.
Spade is the best at these monologues
David Spade was dead wrong about "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". That movie has aged really well.
Just heard Margot Robbie mention it during an interview. 😂
Love that movie!
It blows my mind that Meteor Man (a movie I really liked) cost about $60m to make. Absolutely no one would watch and think "This definitely cost $60m to make".
"Ooh, tha Couric lein...."
“I’ll give you $1000 if you stop smiling for five seconds.”😂
Ha, I used that Iggy Pop joke just a few years ago.
Ha, David does a perfect Michael J. Fox AND Shaggy:):)
Anybody know where we can get the one with Steve Martin? That's the best one
Crap, I almost choked on a cookie🤣🤣🤣🤣
"I'll take Billy Idol to block"...OOF lmao
The billy idol joke killed me
Listen to Spade stand up it is so much better than scripted stuff or acting he does. He's got the delivery that few do.
I have fond memories of, Meteor Man.
It was, before its time?
David Spade is Dynamite.

I was 9 days old when this aired. Glad I still grew up on this kind of humor.
Wow, took a crack at Chevy - this had to be before his Eddie Murphy mishap
Yeah, this was 1993. The Eddie Murphy incident didn't happen for two more years.
So babyfaced. Spade is one of those actors they hire to play a college student when they are actually 32. Now at 63 he plays... with college girls
It's a good retirement gig, if you can get it. All that you need? Be an international superstar with tons of cash.

Geez, I think he's still on fifty-seven.
@@steveconn spade is that you? Are you reading RUclips comments and defending yourself with your burner account again
He's not 63 yet. He's like 57 or 58 by now.

But not great enough to spell "Bernie's" correctly ...lol just goofing
But not 2!
Still holds up.
"00:40 Wilbur....!"
I like him
Watching anything from the 90s shows me why I don’t like anything today
Absolutely zero love on that Burt Reynolds vs. him wiggin' it joke right out of the gate there. Shame.
That was Spade's worst Hollywood minute. He was right it did get worse.
First joke audience silence. A la his buddy Norm...
Kate moss was crazy hot in the 90's.
Dated Johnny Depp too
No, but she did have a pretty face with a really skinny body. She was about 10 large cheeseburgers away from being hot. So, close.
Love ❤️ David!

Why is the Hollywood Minute 2 1/2 min long?
I agree about Robin Hood. Lame jokes and bad acting
Snl was still ok then
Glazed over bloodshot eyes. Must have been hanging with Farley before the segment...busted!
If they did this now all the unfunny cast would have their heads asplode
1:00 Weekend at Bernie's II? I have been calling it "The Biden Administration."
Cruz he's like, old and slow, right? Hi-larious.
Lmfao 😂
Oooof. These aren't great.
Painfully unfunny.
