I have loved the 'bleached plantation pine' that trended in the 1980s. Pier One, Waccamaw Linen in Charleston SC were full of things rendered like this. Now we see this no where! Guess I will have to follow your lead and do it myself! Thanks for your time and effort in sharing this! Do well! (Try this on a table and chairs! A neat beach cottage effect to accompany your walls!) ................... 😊
Great quick video & explanation, wall looks lovely. Our summer cottage interior walls need a fresh update & this is just what I've been looking for. Thanks for your help!
This vid is exactly what I'm looking for. However it is not for me this finish. I'm greatful for your point re water vs oil based for this sort of effect but I think I'm going to go the grey aged wethered look for my pine.
saved this video. My entire basement has this wood on the walls shelves etc. from 1954. but thank GOD it was never heavily stained or varnished. Yellow-yes, but not gawd awfully dark or shiny. Cant wait to try this project in a year. Thank you again. its archived in my saved list.
Denise Ingle.....Just wanted to ask how to remove the clear overspray that was on every plank when purchased? I have the same exact T&G but need to remove the clear before painting. Did yours have the overspray when you bought it? I get why the clear was sprayed on the back side for moisture. I have it on half of my large kitchen walls.....help!! TFS

how do your walls look now .did you get yellow to show through the whits around the knots
We used alcohol instead of sanding worked good too and no dust all over the house
De-Natured alcohol?
Hi Denis, did they knots show through after a while or is that why you put the clear coat on?

Is that white stain essentially just white emulsion paint?
Holy cow...this would take me an entire summer!
Nylon brush, foam brush on raw wood not best choice leaves marks as sponge breaks down, but looks OK, if you like, all that matters

how long did it take for the knots to bleed through?
So did you only use the 40 grit to sand?

very nice work
Cool video. But I would not run an orbital sander inside my house without a high-end dust extractors attached to a vacuum.
Oh boy, that is a great idea! Where were you when I was doing this???
Do you sand between coats?
I did not
Sooooo much better!!
Would it be better to whitewash the wood first before you put it together?
It would, but you would need a large working area!
Do you have a before and after picture?
Look's real good
Inglewood (TM) technique 8)))
I wonder if this video has been demonetized for using the term "whitewash"? lol
Hi
I will try to do it with Woodglut plans.
Let's go to wood prix website, if you want to learn how to build it yourself.
Scam alert!
Is their any advantage of using the minwax over 1 part water and 1 part flat paint? Just curious. Very helpful.
I tried half paint and half water and it was a lot more runny and transparent than the Minwax.
Same question. Glad you answered it. Good video only would have liked a longer last full view shot. Thanks for the helpful video.
Greetings from the UK! Great project! Thank you for sharing.
Looks nice! Can one ever revert a whitewash or paint
Oh yes, just sand away.
Thanks Denise you have helped me .
The knot on that first board painted. I thought my phone screen was cracked again. 😆
Which sheen of polycryllic? Really need to know. Beautiful job!!!!
If you pause the video you can see it is satin.
This looks great, I have some bookcases that could do with a brighten up. Thanks for the video!
How long did it take to do that one wall?
Good job! I want to do my floor. Can you post a photo after you applied the poly. Did you have to buff it before the poly was applied?
Looks great.
Looks nice
Them cracks ;) lol

That is why you have to sand, get all that lacquer off, start fresh.
