    • @OldReddingFarm

      for us it is ANY structure outside needs a permit from zoning but only structures over 200 square feet need a permit from building. Always learning !!

    Permits, we don't need no stinking permits! Yeah anytime you sink things in the ground you have to be carry about it being considered a "permanent structure". Roof looks good and some nice editing tricks in this one

    • @OldReddingFarm
      @OldReddingFarm  4 года назад

      Yeah they sure played us with that one. But apparently in our town we need a permit from zoning even for a floating temporary structure. Good news is we are all squared away and legal now ! Thanks on the editing, that was a fun one to do :) super happy with how it came out.

What did work for me was bring them inside my house, with living temperature control house I just set them by and glass doors. that got 6 hours of full sun, and rest of the day. The sun rays bounced off the patio,. i just wish i add another room to the house . Cheers Buddy

    Nice build. Cloning yourself probably made the build go a lot faster! Are you going to put vertical supports in for the ridge beam? I would think it would make your roof structure a lot stronger, especially necessary if it were to get a snow load on it.

    • @OldReddingFarm
      @OldReddingFarm  4 года назад +1

      We're going to add vertical supports on the gable ends once we get there. Hopefully the pitch is steep enough that the snowload won't be too much. We got some ice and snow the other day and it slid right down. Thanks!

      for the past 4 years we have been living in a 330 square foot studio apartment ! we recently expanded and our living space is now around 700 square feet but, even with that expansion, there isn't enough space to grow ALL the seeds we need to start indoors. We do a spring seedling sale and we sold THOUSANDS of seedlings . if we were to put all that money towards the greenhouse and have another good seedling sale this spring (which we plan to!) then the greenhouse will be paid for!

    That greenhouse is amazing! Dang zoning permits, luckily where we live they are really relaxed about stuff like that. As long as we report it on our taxes they are happy! Is the roofing material made to stand up to hail ?
    Oh, and liked your videography with your twin 😉!

    • @OldReddingFarm
      @OldReddingFarm  4 года назад +1

      they want you to report stuff like a greenhouse on your taxes? Whats that for? So they raise your property taxes? or something else? And We think so hopefully, it is a roof material so it should be strong enough for weather but I guess we will find out. We don't get a ton of hail more likely to have freezing rain. And thank you so much !!!

    • @EventheSparrowHomestead
      @EventheSparrowHomestead 4 года назад

      Yep! Basically depends on the size of the structure so if we built a greenhouse like yours, probably wouldn't get taxed on it. If we did a big one like Living Traditions, possibly get taxed on that! Still learning all that fun stuff since moving from Colorado. Guess after you have so much livestock, they tax you on that too (100+ birds etc...)... Government don't see a tax they don't like 😢
      That's what we get here mostly too is the freezing rain, which makes for my commute to work a challenge and we did move to Tornado alley 😬. Good thing we are getting a storm shelter in a couple weeks which I'm sure we will make a video of. Out in Colorado, mostly hail storms , snow which melted in a day or two.
      Looking forward to seeing how that greenhouse does for y'all!!

    Working on our own greenhouse - I’m wondering, for the roof rafters and beam did you use 2x4s or 2x6s? In the video it looks like the rafters are 2x4, but it’s hard to tell for sure.

      cut one of the plastic roof panels long ways (hot dog!) and used that as a ridge cap. There are most likely better ways to do it but that's what we did.

    • @OldReddingFarm
      @OldReddingFarm  2 года назад

      The ridges should line up exactly with the ridges on the panels. May be tough to add after all the roofing panels are in place though. What we did was install one roofing panel, screwing in the outer edge, then put the ridge cap on. We could then slide the other roofing panel under the ridgecap and screw it from there.
